Watch Out For Those Nazi Na-Nas
And the goose stepping grannies

WARNING! Harsh language alert!

I've always suspected DingleBarry to be less of He-Man kinda guy. Have you seen him attempt a fast ball? Imagine a cross between a poorly executed shot put and an epileptic seizure.

Anyhoo... check out some of this article from WND; (Emphasis mine)
Riot police shield Obama from tea-party grandmas
Rooftop snipers eye patriots singing 'God Bless America'

When hundreds of tea-party protesters – including many elderly women – gathered outside a civic center where President Obama was giving a public speech Wednesday, they were surprised to be greeted by police dispatched in full riot gear.

Obama spoke in Quincy, Ill., at the Oakley Lindsay Civic Center. The event was open to the public, and about 2,000 tickets were distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

About 200 protesters peacefully rallied outside the civic center, carrying signs that read "Give Us Liberty Not Debt" and yellow "Don't Tread On Me" flags, the Quincy Herald-Whig reported. Protesters waved U.S. flags and shouted "Remember in November" and "You work for us."

After Obama's motorcade arrived, a Secret Service agent instructed protesters to move across the street. The crowd began singing "God Bless, America" and the National Anthem. Quincy Deputy Police Chief Ron Dreyer ordered police in full riot gear to march up the street and stand between the tea partiers and the civic center.

Snipers were also spotted on the rooftop of the building.

The tea partiers complied when they were told to move across the street, behind a sidewalk and into a parking lot. The riot police did not come into contact with the crowd, and the tea partiers sang patriotic songs while obeying the orders.

"Thanks for protecting our president," one tea partier can be heard saying on a video of the event. "He's the anointed One, the Messiah."

Another man said, "Illegals are rioting, and we're as peaceful as you can believe."

NBC affiliate WGEM described the crowd as "rowdy," though they could be heard singing "God Bless America" in the background during the report.

Inside, Obama told the crowd, "[W]hen I travel now, it kind of causes a ruckus."

The photos and videos sparked a wave of blogger reactions, including the following comments:

I hope the riot police have full auto assault weapons with armor-piercing rounds. I hear false teeth can deflect normal NATO rounds.

Those poor police have to be embarrassed.

These guys and gals look like my mom or the people in my church. Wake up America!

Why can't these racist, violent tea parties be civil like the peaceful pro-illegal immigration rallies we saw in Phoenix!?

The cops really have to worry since protesters are shown on tape throwing bottles at them. Oh wait …

SWAT was there because it looked like the ladies were going to break out in a bingo game. Those daubers have ink, ya know.

Oh my G-d. How beyond ridiculous. This country's "leaders" have gone stark raving insane.

Yeah, they look like real hoodlums. Next they'll be going after the elementary school kids singing those crazy patriotic songs!

When will the AARP condemn this threatening behavior by team Obama?

Anyone who reads this blog with regularity knows that I'm a VERY pro-cop individual. But what these cops did was bullshit. If there was a question of a pay-raise, and union negotiations were breaking down, you could bet your ass that a wave of "Blue Flu" would sweep through the PD.

But gearing-up to do street battle with a bunch of pensioners? I reiterate -- bullshit.

Those cops should be absolutely and totally ashamed of themselves.

The Fruits Of The Novus Ordo
When are Catholics going to say "ENOUGH!"?

WARNING! This post may be inappropriate for younger readers.

What a sad little story from CatholicCulture.org. Here's some of it; (Emphasis mine)

Retired Australian bishop calls for ecumenical to change teachings on sexuality

A retired Australian bishop has said that the sex-abuse scandal cannot be resolved unless the Church holds an ecumenical council and amends traditional Christian moral teaching.
Bishop Geoffrey Robinson told The Australian that the Church should reconsider teachings on sexuality and on the ordination of women. He also suggested that some of the priests who molested boys were not aware that they were violating their commitment to chastity.
Unaware? You mean they didn't realize something was wrong when the little boys were screaming from being anally raped? Ohhhhh.... I get it now.

Folks, there are some evil, evil little men who have polluted our Church. And besides these children being violated... our Holy Mother the Church is being raped on a daily basis by men exactly like Geoffrey Robinson.

And we don't have to take it anymore.

Find a Traditional Latin Mass parish (even one that offers a TLM only occasionally, if that's all there is), and attend there exclusively.

The Novus Ordo Misssae is a bad tree that produces bad fruit. I've tried for decades to "find the beauty" of the Novus Ordo. Sorry. No can do.

By it's very nature, it's ambiguous, changeable and watered down. Oh... and it begets individuals like Geoffrey Robinson.
American Bishops -

It is becoming more and more apparent that the American Bishops, as a group, constitute a major constituency of the Godless Democrat Party. Other than feigning limited vocal outrage about certain life issues all the while never taking any action whatsoever to go on the offensive regarding those life issues, is there any issue with which the American Bishops are not lock step with the American Communist Party (formerly known as the American Democrat Party)?

We all know that the bishops for the most part supported the communist takeover of American medicine. We all know that the bishops as a group haven't got a clue about micro or macro economics and are easily influenced by the sophistry of populist politicians. We all know that the bishops are for the most part silent about what is the most corrupt presidency in American history and I for one view this silence as tacit approval. I would not be surprised at all to learn that the vast majority of American bishops actually voted for "Obama The Terrible." But even if we were to assume that the bishops were not giving their tacit approval through their silence and that they were just respectfully declining to comment on national political matters, how does one explain the support for something like ObamaCare (remember, the bishops as a group said the bill was just fine as long as the Dems banned federally funded abortion) and now the vocal condemnation of Arizona's rightful attempt to defend it's state border?

What amazes me is that if anyone of these bishop's jurisdictions were violated by the SSPX or some other traditional group they would have an aneurism. We know this because we have witnessed many examples of this over the years. For instance, can you imagine the reaction of a bishop if a group of lay persons decided that their spiritual needs were suffering and that in order to provide the best chance for their families to receive the graces necessary to persevere with God unto death they formed an independent chapel, or better yet took over one of the diocesan churches, and invited an independent priest to serve as pastor? Can you imagine the reaction from the bishop?! Oh wait a minute, we could imagine the reaction. We have seen the reaction. In some instances, immediate excommunication for all involved. Which by the way means you go to Hell. The bishop would go out of his way to suppress (or repress) the disobedience all the while screaming about canon law!

And yet, Arizona is not allowed to protect its geographic area and Arizona is not allowed to protect its citizens from the ill effects of what is no less than a hostile invasion of people. Now my understanding of the Catholic faith is that we as Catholics view the spiritual realm as much more important in the long run to every individual than the temporal realm. Hence, salvation is more important than being able to freely migrate to another country at a whim to find a job without first following the target country's laws of entry. That being the case, and using the bishop's own logic, how in the world is it "just" for a bishop to suppress a rebel traditionalist priest and excommunicate all involved for their involement in violating that bishop's jurisdiciton but at the same time unjust for Arizona to have its police officers ask for proof of legal residency when conducting an interview of a person who is ALEADY stopped or ALREADY in custody for violating some other law?

Its just a question I have. Why is the bishop's jurisdiction sacrosanct and Arizona's so easily dismissed as irrelevant. Is the USCCB going to empty out all of the diocesan coffers to help Arizonans pay for the social services that are bankrupting that state as a result of the illegal immigration problem? Is the USCCB going to start selling off all the church property in the country in order to provide unemployment benefits to the Americans who lose their jobs as a result of illegal immigration and/or is the USCCB going to start supplementing American's wages as they become more and more depressed as a result of illegal immigration?

I am just asking. If the bishops feel it is within their competency to chastize Arizona over this issue, will the Bishops step up and help Arizona pay for all of the people the bishos apparently think the Arizona welfare state should pick up?

I am going to answer my own question. Of course the bishops are not going to do this. And for good reason! Church property does not belong to the bishop it belongs to Church and it is to be used for the salvation of souls. If the bishops squander all of the Church's property for a single generation then how will the Church serve future generations? After all, this is why Christ gave us successors to the apostles. Christ did not just come for that first generation of Christians, he came for every generation. No bishop has the right to squander the properties acquired by the Church over hundreds of years. And it is this fact that has all of us so darn angry at bishops like Mahoney who so freely waste 600 million dollars in diocesan funds on hush money. It is this fact that has us so angry when we see wreckovations! Bishops have no right to destroy a beautiful church built on the backs, sweat and tears of our peasant ancesters. But I digress . . .

In the same token, the politicians of today have absolutely no moral right to squander the wealth of this nation on the current generation of citizens or the current generation of illegal residents. They have no right to impoverish future generations of Americans. In fact, quite the opposite, they have an obligation to preserve it. The wealth of this nation does not belong to any president or bishop or individual. The wealth of this nation belongs to America and is to be preserved for future generations of Americans as well as future generations of immigrants coming to America to seek a better life. It is also to be preserved for future generations around the world so that America may continue to be the "bread basket of the world."

Doesn't Anyone At The USCCB Ever Read The CCC?
And the answer seems to be 'NO'

I just read that "US bishops oppose 'draconian' Arizona immigration law". Interesting. Here's a blast from the past.

Why Being An Illegal Alien Is A Mortal Sin
This isn't exactly deep theological stuff here

Anyone remember the 10 Commandments? OK, I see a buncha hands being raised... good. Now, how many of you remember what constitutes mortal sin? Ohhhh, even more hands up, great! For those who forget, the conditions are as follows;

1- the matter itself is serious or grave
2- sufficient reflection
3- full consent of the will

Alrighty then... now I'm gonna focus on the 7th and 8th Commandment.

7. Thou shalt not steal. Few will doubt that at least a slim majority of illegals are paid under the table. Hence, no federal tax, no state tax, no FICA... nuttin'. Isn't purposeful tax evasion considered stealing? Sure is.

Should I even bring up job stealing? And don't give me that garbage that 'the illegals are doing the jobs that Americans won't do'. Someone did those jobs before the 12 million strong silent invasion took place, right? And there are plenty of high paying jobs that are being stolen by illegals; plumbers, electricians, framers, etc. And yes, those that knowingly hired illegals and subsequently fired hardworking American citizens are just as wrong.

8. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. The Church has always taught that lying falls under the 8th Commandment. Ummm, being in this county, any country, illegally is lying, right? No amount of liberal verbal gymnastics can get around this simple, irrefutable fact.

Now with all that said, let's look again at the conditions that constitute mortal sin.

1. Breaking the immigration and taxation laws of this country pretty much constitute grave, wouldn't you say?

2. I doubt if many of the illegals were just taking a lovely stroll along the border one day and on a lark, decided to jump the fence. I also doubt that many of the illegals jumped the fence on a dare after a rough night of drinking at the Frat House.

3. I also seriously doubt if even a large minority of the illegals were forced to come here. It's a pretty safe bet that the overwhelming majority gave their full consent to illegally enter this nation.

OK, I'm ready for all the comments telling me what a racist I am. BRING IT ON, BABY!

And then here's something else I posted long ago and far away;
According the the USCCB website, the accolades for this gal include the following;

Her understanding of Catholic social teaching has informed her position on immigration reform. “I am passionate about insuring that there is a way for undocumented people to become lawful residents and citizens,” she says. “There are 12 million-plus people living in the shadows. As Catholics, we have a responsibility to help them feel welcome and find their place.”
Anyone mind if I inject the official teaching of The Catholic Church?

#2241 - Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants' duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.
Gee... in other words, the official teaching of The Church is that a sovereign nation actually CAN control their own borders?? And that the same sovereign nation actually CAN expect those who came to that nation legally to actually expected to obey the law??!! What a concept!

Thoughts On Cops...
And cop stuff

Yes, they're rioting in the streets of Phoenix. Is this the latest in the series Tea Partiers Gone Wild? No, I think not.

Anyhoo, liberals everywhere are stroking-out at the mere mention that local cops could be making arrests on federal charges.

But don't city, county and state law enforcement already do that? Yep... they sure do. Or could, as the case may be.

Here's what I'm getting at -- one of the very few murder on the federal level would be for assassinating the POTUS. OK, the Prez visits Anytown, USA and manages to get himself whacked by some malcontent.

What do you think local law enforcement is going to do? Just sit on their hands while the Secret Service and the US Marshalls are turning Anytown upside down? Noooo.... they're going to be doing everything in their power to catch that nasty guy who just violated a federal law.

Federal murder rap or a federal illegal immigration rap... breaking the law is breaking the law, period.

Today, Miami... Tomorrow, San Jose?
We can only hope

I've posted about the antics of Presider Jon Pedigo in the past. Someone needs to remind this guy what The Lord nuked Sodom and Gomorrah.

But in the meantime, know that his not only non-Catholic, but anti-Catholic views are celebrated and encouraged in the Diocese of San Jose.

Here's some of the article from The California Catholic Daily; (Emphasis mine)
“Well-established and time honored”
San Jose diocese touts secular award to ‘gay-friendly priest’ who questions tradition

Father Jon Pedigo, the ‘gay-friendly’ pastor of St. Julie Billiart Parish in San Jose who openly opposed Proposition 8 and says the current hierarchical structure of the Church is irrelevant, was given the Director’s Award by the Santa Clara County Office of Human Relations on Thursday, April 22, in ceremonies at the Wyndham Hotel in San Jose.

Fr. Pedigo’s award was promoted on the San Jose diocesan website, which said he “has been selected to receive the prestigious Directors' Award from the Santa Clara County Office of Human Relations. Father Pedigo will be honored for his efforts in promoting positive human relations and civil rights in Santa Clara County. Father Pedigo is the Director of the Catholic Campaign for Immigration Reform for the Diocese of San Jose.”

That the diocese would promote Fr. Pedigo and the award comes as no surprise since, according to a cover story in the Silicon Valley alternative weekly MetroActive published in November 2009, “Secretly, San Jose is the most gay-friendly diocese in the nation.”

In a lengthy interview that was part of the MetroActive story, Fr. Pedigo said, “I believe that as the upper echelons of ecclesial power worry themselves with the window dressings of Christian tradition and thus fade into irrelevance, there will be a renaissance of a more 'radical' or 'root' Christian faith."

*Sigh* I Don't Think This Is What St. Ignatius Had In Mind
But Satan does

Why can't Catholic schools just be Catholic? This is so depressing.

Here's the entire article from The California Catholic;
Pro-abortion, favor same-sex marriage
Loyola Marymount University announces 2010 commencement speakers

The Democratic governor of Massachusetts and a former member of the LA Unified School District board of trustees have been selected as this year’s commencement speakers at Loyola Marymount University, a Jesuit institution in Los Angeles.

“According to Kathleen Flanagan, vice president for communications and government relations, Deval Patrick, governor of Massachusetts, and Marlene Canter, a former member of the L.A. Unified School District (LAUSD) board, will address the undergraduates and graduates, respectively,” the LMU student newspaper Los Angeles Loyolan reported on April 23.

“Patrick is the first black governor of Massachusetts and the second elected black governor in U.S. history,” said the Loyolan. “He also served as assistant attorney general under former President Bill Clinton.”

The student newspaper described Canter this way: “Canter served two terms on the LAUSD board and, according to the Los Angeles Times, is best known for her efforts to "ban sodas and junk food, while also improving the nutrition, taste and accessibility of school breakfasts and lunches.’"

What the Loyolan did not report is that both Patrick and Canter are pro-abortion and favor same-sex marriage.

Patrick was active with the Massachusetts legislature in its successful effort to prevent an initiative going before voters that would have eliminated same-sex marriages in the state following a ruling by the state’s supreme court declaring a ban on such ‘marriages’ unconstitutional.

Patrick also signed into law a measure later upheld by a federal appellate court that creates a 35-foot buffer zone around abortion clinics. The law – aimed at pro-lifers – makes it illegal for anyone who is not entering or leaving an abortion clinic to come within 35 feet of any clinic’s sidewalks or driveways.

In 2006, the Boston Globe reported that, when quizzed about his support for abortion and same-sex marriage by a constituent, Patrick said abortion decisions should be left to women and that the law regards everyone as equals, regardless of sexual orientation.

Patrick also supports stem cell research. In a 2005 policy document entitled “Moving Massachusetts Forward,” the governor said, “We will issue bonds to invest in expansion and development of stem cell research. Proceeds from the bonds will be invested in research facilities and faculty development in the public universities to stimulate their expansion.”

While serving as a Los Angeles school trustee, Canter joined a unanimous board in adopting a resolution opposing Proposition 8 before the November 2008 election, when California voters approved the measure. "This is an issue of simple fairness and basic human rights," said Canter in a statement following the school board vote. "We have an obligation to educate every student and support every family in this District -- we can not stand by while the right to marry for all is threatened."

A few weeks later, on Sept. 23, 2008, Canter again joined a unanimous LA Unified School Board in expressing opposition to Proposition 4, which would have required a family member be notified before a minor girl undergoes an abortion. The resolution mentioned Planned Parenthood by name, and, in fact, the resolution reads as though it had been written by Planned Parenthood, which spent millions to defeat the initiative.
Among other things, the resolution for which Canter voted said of Prop 4, “no law can mandate that families communicate,” “Not all children live in homes where honest communication is possible,” “Proposition 4 puts these young women in a potentially dangerous situation,” and “Parental notification laws in other states have resulted in teens delaying critical care; choosing illegal, unsafe procedures; going across borders to receive medical care; or worse options” – all talking points used by Planned Parenthood in its campaign against the initiative.

This year’s selection of commencement speakers at Loyola Marymount continues a trend by Jesuit institutions in California of inviting dissidents to speak at graduation ceremonies. For many years running, the Jesuit-run University of San Francisco has featured such speakers. (To read an article published earlier this month by California Catholic Daily about USF’s commencement speakers, Click Here.

Loyola Marymount, USF and other Catholic schools seem to be ignoring the spirit if not the letter of a statement issued in June 2004 by the bishops of the United States, “Catholics in Political Life.” Among other things, the statement said, “The Catholic community and Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles. They should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.” (Emphasis in original.)

The following quote from St. Ignatius himself is rather pertinent, wouldn't you say?
“The picture. A great plain, comprising the entire Jerusalem district, where is the supreme Commander-in-Chief of the forces of good, Christ our Lord: another plain near Babylon, where Lucifer is, at the head of the enemy.”

- Saint Ignatius of Loyola

Bad Priests?
We've ALWAYS had bad priests

Yeah, that fresh breeze of Vatican II just don't stop a-blowin', do it? But like was recently pointed out to me... we've always had bad priests.

Ever since Day One. Namely, this guy to the right, who by the way was also the first guy ever to duck outta Mass early.

Hey, and let's not forget that worthless ex-Augustinian monk a few centuries back.

Should I even get into the Smoke of Satan crowd present day who are hell-bent-for-leather to send souls to hell under the banner of tolerance and acceptance? They're the same ones who scream about hate speech the moment anyone castigates or critisizes their heresy, scandal and error.

THIS Is Who's Propping Up Our Economy
Goodbye Uncle Sam, Hello Uncle Mao

I've been following this for years. Now it's coming to fruition... a blue water Communist Chinese fleet. And a powerful one, at that.

This is dangerous. Very dangerous. I suggest we keep this tucked in the back of your brain housing group whenever we read that we are becoming more and more beholden to these heathen Communists. Oh, and that we've WILLFULLY shipped so much of our industrial might directly to Communist China.

Here's some of the article from the New York Times; (Emphasis mine)

Chinese Military Seeks to Extend Its Naval Power
The strategy reflects China’s growing sense of self-confidence and increasing willingness to assert its interests abroad.

YALONG BAY, China — The Chinese military is seeking to project naval power well beyond the Chinese coast, from the oil ports of the Middle East to the shipping lanes of the Pacific, where the United States Navy has long reigned as the dominant force, military officials and analysts say.

China calls the new strategy “far sea defense,” and the speed with which it is building long-range capabilities has surprised foreign military officials.

The strategy is a sharp break from the traditional, narrower doctrine of preparing for war over the self-governing island of Taiwan or defending the Chinese coast. Now, Chinese admirals say they want warships to escort commercial vessels that are crucial to the country’s economy, from as far as the Persian Gulf to the Strait of Malacca, in Southeast Asia, and to help secure Chinese interests in the resource-rich South and East China Seas.

In late March, two Chinese warships docked in Abu Dhabi, the first time the modern Chinese Navy made a port visit in the Middle East.

The overall plan reflects China’s growing sense of self-confidence and increasing willingness to assert its interests abroad. China’s naval ambitions are being felt, too, in recent muscle flexing with the United States: in March, Chinese officials told senior American officials privately that China would brook no foreign interference in its territorial issues in the South China Sea, said a senior American official involved in China policy.

The naval expansion will not make China a serious rival to American naval hegemony in the near future, and there are few indications that China has aggressive intentions toward the United States or other countries.

But China, now the world’s leading exporter and a giant buyer of oil and other natural resources, is also no longer content to trust the security of sea lanes to the Americans, and its definition of its own core interests has expanded along with its economic clout.

In late March, Adm. Robert F. Willard, the leader of the United States Pacific Command, said in Congressional testimony that recent Chinese military developments were “pretty dramatic.” China has tested long-range ballistic missiles that could be used against aircraft carriers, he said. After years of denials, Chinese officials have confirmed that they intend to deploy an aircraft carrier group within a few years.

China is also developing a sophisticated submarine fleet that could try to prevent foreign naval vessels from entering its strategic waters if a conflict erupted in the region, said Admiral Willard and military analysts.

"The Suffering Of Benedict"
Yet another stunnner from Michael Voris

Just How Barbaric We've Become
This is just sad and pathetic

It's my sad duty to pass on to you this bit of news on just how badly we as a nation and a civilization have sunk. When a ban such as this is seen as a "victory", you know things are pretty damn low.

Here's some of the article from LifeSiteNews.com;

North Dakota Approves Petition for Abortion Decapitation, Skull Crushing Ban

DICKINSON, North Dakota, April 23, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A North Dakota grassroots pro-life organization is announcing the official beginning of an effort to circulate petitions for an initiated measure that would prohibit physicians from decapitating and crushing the skulls of living unborn children.

‘The Baby Decapitation and Skull Crushing Ban’ was approved for circulation by the North Dakota Secretary of State and Attorney General on Thursday. Daniel Woodard, head of the state-wide Stop Decapitation Network, aims to collect 12,844 signatures in order to place the measure on the 2010 or 2012 ballot. The ban would become law if a majority of North Dakotans vote for it.

The Petition Title reads: “This initiated measure would create a new chapter to the North Dakota Century Code making it a crime for a physician to knowingly decapitate or crush the skull of a living unborn child or to incidentally cause serious bodily injury to the mother due to a resulting skull fragment; medical treatment could be used to save the life of the mother if the death of the child is incidental to the treatment.”

“It says a lot about how far we’ve sunk as a godly nation that we would need to pass a law banning the decapitation and skull crushing of babies waiting to be born," said Woodard. "The barbarians of old were not even as savage as some abortion 'doctors.' It’s supremely ironic that we accuse Islamic governments of savagely decapitating their own people, yet they accuse Western governments of savagely decapitating their own children.

"This insane slaughter of others must stop now. None of it is justified.”

It's About Time
I guess rattling cages DOES work!

Oh yes... I've posted about the uber-homo-friendly Archbishop of Miami. And now he's about to be gone. Thank God.

Here's a bit of the article from Renew America; (No emphasis on my part)
Orthodoxy vindicated: the real reason Archbishop Favalora of Miami was made to resign

By Eric Giunta

Today is a glorious day, one for which Catholics should rightly be proud. The Bishop of Rome has responded to years of documented moral and financial mismanagement of the Miami Archdiocese by Archbishop John Favalora. On April 20, the Holy See compelled Favalora to tender his resignation "in accordance with canon 401 para. 2 of the Code of Canon Law," in the words of the official Vatican press release.

There is certainly far more to this decision than the archbishop himself has let on:

''I think it's time to move on . . . At age 74, I should know when I can do more and when I can't do more,'' Favalora said, later adding that he's ready for a quieter life and no longer wants ''to be a public figure.''
Whatever else might be said of Favalora's putative justifications, none of them comprise what a reasonable observer would call "grave cause." Rome is not spilling the beans on the reasons for Favalora's removal, and neither will the Miami Archdiocese.

But I think I have a good idea why. For the benefit of my newer readers, I will recapitulate what I wrote in these pages several months ago:

In 2004, a group of concerned lay Catholics of the Miami Archdiocese constituted themselves a lay "watchdog" organization, under the name Christifidelis. They were moved to do so by what they have alleged is a gay superculture running the archdiocese.

Attorney Sharon Bourassa, a member of Christifidelis, was counsel for The Rev. Andrew Dowgiert in a lawsuit filed against the Archdiocese in May of 2005. Fr. Dowgiert, on loan from a Polish archdiocese and soon to be incardinated in Miami, alleged that he was "fired" from active ministry in the Miami Archdiocese after whistle-blowing on homosexual activity by several pastors of the Archdiocese (particularly that of Fr. Anibal Morales of All Saints Parish [in Sunrise]).

In 2005 and 2006, RenewAmerica.com columnist Matt Abbott published several articles tracing developments in what became known as the "Miami Vice" scandal. Bourassa claimed that several "straight" priests were feeding her information on a culture of sodomy and theological heterodoxy on the part of priests of the Miami Archdiocese. Among the allegations: 70 to 90 percent of the Archdiocese's priests are sexually active gays; Archbishop Favalora and Catholic Charities of Miami owned several thousand shares in stock for a liquid aphrodisiac popularly sold in gay clubs and strip joints; at least 70 percent of the United States bishops are sexually active gays; many priests were misappropriating parish funds to live exorbitant lifestyles, and Archbishop Favalora and vicar-general Msgr. William J. Hennessey are in some way implicated in this superculture.

The lawsuit was eventually dismissed, on the grounds that it involved "separation of church and state" issues. The court refused to determine whether a religious employer wrongfully terminated the ministerial employment of an ordained cleric. In dismissing the case, the court made no determination on the veracity of the above allegations.

This writer [i.e., Eric Giunta] can personally testify to the truth of at least one of the above allegations, namely, that the vast majority of the Archdiocese's pastors are homosexuals. Yours truly applied to the seminary formation program of the Miami Archdiocese in the Spring of 2005. I was immediately blacklisted as an ultraconservative "traditionalist" for my regular assistance at the Latin Mass Community at Miami's St Robert Bellarmine parish.

During my course of interviews with priests from the Archdiocese's vocations admissions board, one priest volunteered to me (with absolutely no prompting on my part) the fact that "if the new Holy Father [i.e., Pope Benedict XVI] were to get rid of every gay priest, this Archdiocese could run maybe . . . ten parishes." The Archdiocese, at the time, operated at least 121 parishes and/or missions.

At the end of the day, I was refused admission to the Miami seminary, and advised to seek out a more "conservative" diocese or religious order. I applied, and was accepted, to the formation program of another Diocese, a "conservative" (read: orthodox) one in the Midwest. This Midwestern Diocese used to send its Hispanic men to the seminaries in Florida, but stopped doing so owing to the rampant homosexuality tolerated and inculcated, particularly at St John Vianney in Miami.

[In the summer of 2006,] I and several other Catholics sent to Rome an exhaustive report (hundreds of pages of text, documentation, and eye witness accounts) detailing and documenting all these allegations and more. Rome responded to the report.

Bad Jesuit, Worse Jesuit
When will Rome do something?

Yet another sad, sad article from The California Catholic Daily. Here's some of it; (Emphasis mine.)
“Very active in pastoral ministry to LGBTQ Catholics”
Homosexual-friendly priest named rector at Santa Clara University, will be religious superior of 40 fellow Jesuits on campus

On March 22, Santa Clara University announced that Fr. Michael Zampelli, S.J., had been named the new rector to the Jesuit community of Santa Clara University. Zampelli was appointed by Fr. General Adolfo Nicolás, S.J., the superior general of the Society of Jesus in Rome.
This in and of itself, is really no big deal. Until we look a little deeper into the theological and ecclesiastical attitudes of Presider Zampelli. Tolerance of homosexuality in the priesthood, said Fr. Zampelli, “must be a temporary state of affairs that includes an acknowledgement that we are ‘on the road,’ that understanding more and becoming more understanding takes time.”

Fr. Zampelli also suggested that homosexuality must be celebrated, not just tolerated. “In this case, tolerance is unacceptable,” he said. “Why? Because, I believe deeply (along with Paul in Corinthians) that ‘I am what I am by the grace of God.’ And I believe that I have particular gifts deriving precisely from this blessed but marginalized way of being in the world. What I see clearly now is my own desire: I want to be a subject sought out and valued.”

In addition to his work at the university, Fr. Zampelli also serves on the board of directors of CALGM, the Catholic Association of Gay and Lesbian Ministries. He is the organization’s treasurer. His CALGM biography states: “Michael has been very active in pastoral ministry to LGBTQ Catholics in the Diocese of San José (SCU and the Emmaus Community) and with Dignity/San Francisco.” Dignity/San Francisco is not recognized by the Archdiocese of San Francisco, and is not allowed to meet on Church property.

The appointment of homosexual-friendly priests into positions of religious authority is a developing trend in the Jesuit California Province. Fr. Zampelli’s appointment follows that of Fr. Donal Godfrey, who in 2007 was named executive director of university ministry at the Jesuit University of San Francisco. Like Fr. Zampelli, Fr. Godfrey is active with “Dignity.” Last year, Fr. Godfrey led a workshop at the July 2009 Dignity USA convention in San Francisco. Fr. Godfrey also has been a fixture at San Francisco’s Most Holy Redeemer, a parish deeply involved in homosexual activism, including participation in the city’s yearly Gay Pride parade. In October 2007, Fr. Godfrey presided at a prayer service (later broadcast by the BBC) celebrating homosexuality.

Flap flies in Haiti over U.S. flag absence

The many nations helping Haiti recover from the devastating earthquake that struck there have set up their own military compounds and fly their flags at the entrances.

France's tricolor, Britain's Union Jack and even Croatia's coat of arms flap in the breeze.

But the country whose contributions dwarf the rest of the world's — the United States — has no flag at its main installation near the Port-au-Prince airport.

The Obama administration says flying the flag could give Haiti the wrong idea.

"We are not here as an occupation force, but as an international partner committed to supporting the government of Haiti on the road to recovery," the U.S. government's Haiti Joint Information Center said in response to a query about the flag.

Roger Mahony -
Drama queen

Give me a break already. Looks as if the Thanks-Be-To-God soon to be EX-Archbishop of La-La-Land will be going out with more than a touch of crazy.

Case in point. Here's some of the article from The California Catholic Daily; (Emphasis and comments mine) “German Nazi and Russian Communist techniques”
Cardinal Roger Mahony blasts recently adopted Arizona immigration law

Los Angeles Cardinal Roger Mahony has come down hard a law passed by the Arizona legislature that has been described in the press as “one of the toughest illegal immigration laws in the United States.” The bill would make it a crime in Arizona to be in the state illegally and give local police the power to enforce federal immigration laws. (And this is a bad thing?)

Writing on Sunday, April 18, on “Cardinal Roger Mahony Blogs L.A.,” the Archbishop of Los Angeles called the Arizona law “the country's most retrogressive, mean-spirited, and useless anti-immigrant law… The tragedy of the law is its totally flawed reasoning: that immigrants come to our country to rob, plunder, and consume public resources. That is not only false, the premise is nonsense.” (The good Cardinal is lying, and he knows it. Illegal aliens cost the taxpayers of this nations billions and billions of taxdolllars every year. And Mahony knows it.)

Cardinal Mahony raised an alarming scenario in his commentary on the new Arizona law: “I can't imagine Arizonans now reverting to German Nazi and Russian Communist techniques whereby people are required to turn one another in to the authorities on any suspicion of documentation,” he wrote.
(This is patently pathetic. The law enforcement officials of this nation have just been compared to Nazis and Communist thugs. Shame on Roger Mahony.... SHAME!)

What Are Your Priests Reading?
That is, if your priests are within the Diocese of Raleigh

The other day I posted a reference to the Diocese of Raleigh's continuing series of highlighting various priests throughout the Diocese. Here's the link itself.

When it came to the question of Favorite author and/or book?, there was a mixed bag of answers. And quite telling as well.

The range went from the sound; Gerard Manley Hopkins, Michael O'Brien, C. S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, George Orwell, etc, to the highly questionable; Father Henri J. M. Nouwen - He preached Universal Salvation; "Every one will be saved" and "Anyone can find his own way to God". In his final book Sabbatical Journey : The Diary of His Final Year there is an ostensible endorsement of "gay" marriage. He was also a avid reader of Matthew Fox, the renegade Dominican.

Thomas Merton - The very same Thomas Merton who advocated melding Zen Buddhism and Islamic Sufiism with Catholicism, as well as being a big proponent of praying to the God within yourself.
Interesting. Of those interviewed, roughly 20% openly touted that they consider those who are in direct contradiction to Catholic dogma as their favorite(s).

Cardinal George Is Accountable For This Idiot
The silence is deafening

And let's remember that Cardinal George just awarded this defacto heretic with something called "The Office for Racial Justice Lifetime Achievement Award".

Wow.

Just remember gang, the same guy that His Eminence bestowed an award upon, also just said "I don't need the Pope".

An Especially Poignant Mass
Welcome home, Dominic

I've made no secret how I feel about 98% of the world being sheep, 1% being wolves, and 1% being sheepdogs... or in the case today, either sheepdogs or shepherds.

Today at Mass in Camp Lejeune, Father welcomed home a young Marine who literally got off the plane this morning from a combat tour in Afghanistan.

Today's reading from The Holy Gospel of St. John, from the Douay-Rheims Bible - John 10: 11-16. Keep these two images in your mind as you read today's Gospel.

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep. But the hireling, and he that is not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and flieth: and the wolf catcheth, and scattereth the sheep: And the hireling flieth, because he is a hireling: and he hath no care for the sheep. I am the good shepherd; and I know mine, and mine know me. As the Father knoweth me, and I know the Father: and I lay down my life for my sheep.

And other sheep I have, that are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold and one shepherd.

U.S. Church Has Only 17 "Commandos"
What are the bishops waiting for?

(My co-conspirator, Former Altar Boy, is having computer issues, so I'm posting this under my name. This is his posting. AND A GOOD ONE, AT THAT!)

A few issues back, Father Thomas Euteneuer, a trained exorcist, began penning a monthly column for New Oxford Review on demonic possession and exorcism. (NOTE: Fr. Euteneuer is also president of the major pro-life organization, Human Life International, and a frequent guest on radio and television. He’s the one, you may recall, you took on that CINO Sean Hannity and debated him into defeat.) A few statistics in Father’s March 2010 column were particularly shocking.

“The book Generation Hex notes that this generation of American kids is the first ever to grow up in a society in which Christianity has been stigmatized and the occult normalized. The authors also note that Wicca is the fastest growing ‘religion’ in the U.S., and it’s not hard to figure why – there are no fewer than 700,000 Internet sites for ‘teenage witches.’ Meanwhile, the Pew Forum’s ‘U.S. Religious Landscape Survey’ found that ‘former Catholics’ outnumber converts four to one. Ten percent of the U.S. population now consists of ‘ex-Catholics.’”

Father Euteneuer points out that any diocesan bishop may appoint priests with “piety, prudence, and integrity of life” to conduct solemn exorcisms. It is clear from the following excerpt from his column that bishops are about as serious on that subject as they are on cracking down on the Lavender Mafia, liturgical abuses, or even child abuse.

“Fr. Jeff Grob, the exorcist in the Archdiocese of Chicago, has said that there are only some seventeen officially appointed exorcists in the entire country. (My emphasis.) This is hardly an army arrayed against the organized forces of Hell."

Every baptized Catholic here on earth is a member of the Church Militant. Every confirmed Catholic is a soldier for Christ. But exorcists are like the Church’s Delta Force, or SEALs, or other specially-trained, elite fighting force. Whiskey tango foxtrot! The bishops have only designated 17 exorcists for the entire United States!! I know one-twelfth of them are direct successors of Judas Iscariot but what’s up with the rest of them? Do they want souls to be lost for eternity to Satan? Is this another “fruit” of Vatican II? Sin no longer exists so we don’t need exorcists?

St. Michael the Archangel, pray for us!

I really like Lt Col West. He's currently running for Congress in Florida's 22d District. He's the same guy that was asked a few days ago if he might know what's up with DingleBarry's incessant bowing. The Colonel's response was words to the effect of "if you have no backbone, it's easy to flail forward".

If you're unfamiliar with Lt Col Allen West, US Army (Ret), I strongly suggest you watch this video. You won't be disappointed.

Only one thing I wish the good Colonel would have said -- all three victories he cited were Catholic victories.

For those who aren't aware, here's some of the background on the individual the good Father listed as his favorite author -

~ Küng rejected the dogma of Papal infallibility.
~ Küng was stripped of his licence to teach as a Catholic theologian.
~ Küng endorsed the heresy of Mohammedanism in the following quote;
"The same church must, in my opinion, also respect that the one whose name is absent from the same declaration out of embarrassment, although he and he alone led Muslims to pray to this one God, so that once again through him, Muhammad, the prophet, this God 'has spoken to mankind."Ummm.... nooooooo. Mohammed is a FALSE-prophet. And while I'm at it, since when to Catholic priests get their doctorates from institutions that deny the Real Presence, most of the other Sacraments, Papal supremacy, etc?

Gee, I can't figure out why the Catholic Church is self-destructing, can you?

"Dear Catholic Church, Go To Hell"
- Rev Michael Pfleger, Archdiocese of Chicago

Here's some of the article from LifeSiteNews.com; (Emphasis mine) Fr. Pfleger on Apology: They Made Me Do it, But I Didn't Mean it

CHICAGO, Illinois, April 16, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – In the latest episode in an ongoing controversy, Fr. Michael Pfleger has again publicly voiced his support for women's ordination, this time in a comment posted to his Facebook fan page. In that comment, he also notes that the archdiocese made him issue the apology he put out on Wednesday.

“Sunday, I mentioned in my Sermon that I believe in married Priests and Woman Priests,” the Facebook comment reads. “I was then told that I had to apologize for saying it durning [sic] a Sermon because that is not allowed, even though that is my opinion.

“I have received much hate from the right-winged who want my removal,” he added. “Amazing... Nobody Blogged me or youtubed me about helping Save our children or Stopping the Violence...”

His comment follows a Wednesday statement published on the Archdiocese of Chicago's website, which has since been removed. In the statement he admits that he advocated for women priests and bishops in his homily, but then says that, “While this is my personal opinion, I do respect and follow the Catholic Church teachings and I am sorry I failed to do this.”

Pfleger’s Sunday homily had been posted to the website of his parish, Saint Sabina's Catholic Church, and the 30-second clip in which he made the controversial remarks quickly made it onto Youtube. The homily and Fr. Pfleger's call for women's ordination remained posted on the parish website as of press time.

There were 3 good arguments that Jesus was Black:

1. He called everyone brother .

2. He liked Gospel.

3. He couldn't get a fair trial.

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was Jewish:

1. He went into His Father's business.

2. He lived at home until he was 33.

3. He was sure his Mother was a virgin and his Mother was sure He was God.

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was Italian:

1. He talked with His hands.

2. He had wine with His meals.

3. He used olive oil.

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was a Californian:

1. He never cut His hair.

2. He walked around barefoot all the time.

3. He started a new religion.

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was a Native American:

1. He was at peace with nature.

2. He ate a lot of fish.

3. He talked about the Great Spirit.

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was Irish:

1. He never got married.

2. He was always telling stories.

3. He loved green pastures.

But the most compelling evidence of all - 3 good arguments that Jesus had the beautiful spirit of a WOMAN:

1. He fed a crowd at a moment's notice when there was no food.

2. He kept trying to get a message across to a bunch of men who just didn't get it.

3. And even when He was dead, He had to get up because there was work to do.

New Cathedral for the Diocese of Raleigh?

I just have one question, what are the odds the diocese will actually build something beautiful? Considering the fact that the diocese has built one hideous church after another for the last fifty years (not to mention perpetrate various wreckovations including that which was done years ago to the current Cathedral) my guess is that we can at best look forward to a very mundane/modern uninspiring building of some sort with a sign in the yard that says Cathedral.

I wonder if the bishop will build something in line with our Catholic identity or will he build another monument to the New Catholic Church.

I am pessimistic, but I am willing to hear from people why I should expect otherwise. I guess in the end we will just have to wait and see . . .

Bishop seeks options for his tiny cathedral
RALEIGH -- Some cathedrals are known for their soaring steeples or sonorous organs. Sacred Heart Cathedral has another distinction: It is the smallest Roman Catholic cathedral in the United States.

Perhaps not for long.

Bishop Michael Burbidge told leaders of the cathedral and the adjacent school on Saturday that he has hired a firm to study the feasibility of building a cathedral, or mother church, for the Diocese of Raleigh. The firm, Graham-Pelton, a national consulting company with offices in Charlotte, is to interview 200 clergy and parishioners across the diocese to see whether there is a will and a way to build a new cathedral. Any new building would be financed locally from money raised across the diocese. Diocesan officials did not discuss what such a venture would cost.

The need for a larger building is indisputable. The stone sanctuary on Hillsborough Street, one block from the old Capitol building, has a seating capacity of 320. During Easter weekend, more than 4,200 celebrated one of several Masses in either the tiny sanctuary, the school hall or the nearby Clarion hotel, where overflow crowds watched the proceedings on closed circuit TV.

"It's a busy place," said the Rev. Dan Oschwald, the rector.

The diocese, which spans 54 counties in Eastern North Carolina, has grown by 42 percent in the past decade - from 152,493 registered Catholics in 1999 to 217,125 last year. Another 200,000 Catholics, mostly Hispanic, are unregistered.

Most weekends, Oschwald celebrates nine Masses with the help of three retired priests and the N.C. State University campus minister. The cathedral has a vibrant Hispanic community and a weekly Spanish Mass. Once a month, it is the site of a traditional Latin Mass.

The cathedral claims 5,871 members, yet it's so small the building has no bathrooms.

But because the cathedral sits on a tiny plot of land, it's virtually certain that a new cathedral would be built elsewhere. One possibility being explored is the area surrounding the diocesan center, between Centennial Parkway and Western Boulevard. From atop a ridge, the diocese's 30 acres command an impressive view of downtown Raleigh.

Downtown advantages

A departure from downtown would not be universally applauded. There is no other Catholic church downtown, and the cathedral's symbolic presence in the heart of the capital would be missed. A downtown cathedral has the added benefit of serving people in need at a place where they gather. It's not clear that homeless or other destitute people would be able to travel to Western Boulevard.

Russ Elmayan, chief financial officer for the diocese, said talk of a new location for a cathedral is premature.

"The decision on where it will be located has not been made," Elmayan said. "If it goes forward, the feasibility study will help determine the location."

There are no plans to raze the old cathedral, built before the diocese was established in 1924. Burbidge told participants at Saturday's meeting that it would likely be used for ceremonial occasions such as weddings and funerals.

The cathedral underwent a $500,000 facelift in 1998, when its floral-themed terrazzo floor and red oak bishop's throne and shepherd's staff were restored. Its ceiling was painted bright blue and inlaid with 14-carat gold leaf stars.

Here's some of a rather disturbing article from LifeSiteNews.com; (Emphasis mine) Jesuit U. of Detroit Mercy Criticized for Keeping Pro-Abort Nun Board Member

DETROIT, Michigan, April 15, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The University of Detroit Mercy, a Jesuit Catholic institution, has come under fire for failing to remove links to pro-abortion groups on its website, as well as for keeping a renowned pro-abortion, pro-same-sex "marriage" nun on its Board of Trustees.

Links to Planned Parenthood and the National Organization for Women (NOW) are still listed in two places: "career & professional resources" and "external sites of interest."

The student advocacy group suggested that the school's insistence in keeping the links may be related to the presence of Sr. Margaret Farley, a Sister of Mercy, on its Board of Trustees. Farley, who earned her Ph.D. at Yale Divinity School, was one of 40 Catholic religious who infamously signed a 1984 statement by "Catholics for Choice" upholding abortion as justifiable from a Catholic standpoint. Several of the co-signers were subsequently excommunicated.

Since then, Farley has published her dissention from Catholic Church teaching on several key issues, including abortion, homosexuality, same-sex "marriage," masturbation, sterilization, divorce, and women priests. Many of these viewpoints are available in her 2006 book "Just Love: A Framework for Christian Sexual Ethics
," in which Farley challenges the "simpler ways of interpreting human experience" of traditional Catholic values on marriage and sexuality, with a new framework for "just" sexual gratification outside of marital relations and family life.

“What type of faith-damaging message does this send to Catholic college students?" questioned TFP Student Action. "How can we expect the next generation to respect innocent life when professors like Dr. Jane Schaberg and board members like Sister Farley publicly reject Church teaching and Natural Law on procured abortion?"

White House Science ‘Czar’ Tells Students: U.S. Can’t Expect to Be Number One in Science and Technology Forever

(CNSNews.com) – The Obama administration’s top science and technology official, who has argued for the economic de-development of America, warned science students last Friday that the United States cannot expect to be “number one” forever.

“We can’t expect to be number one in everything indefinitely,” Dr. John P. Holdren said at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

Holdren is director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and chairs the President’s Council of Advisors on Science & Technology (PCAST), making him the top science adviser in the administration.

What Exactly Is A "Tea Bagger"?
Ummm... maybe the guys to the right?

WARNING! This posting may be inappropriate for children.

"Tea Bagger" We just can't escape this certain pornographic phrase.

Notables proponents include CNN's Anderson Cooper; MSNBC's David Shuster, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow; HBO's Bill Maher; Hollywood's Janeane Garofalo, etc, etc, ad nauseum.

I'll be honest, I never heard the phrase until after I retired from the Marine Corps, and ended up working as a Correctional Officer within the NC Bureau of Prisons.

OK. Turns out that "tea bagging" is when the Sweetheart of Cell Block C drops to his back, and either Hans of the AB, or Mustapha of the Black Muslims (depending upon whose beeotch you are) squats over your face (nekkid, of course) and proceeds to repeatedly dip his scrotum in and out of the mouth of his beloved. Much like the steeping of a tea bag.

THAT is what 'Tea Bagging' is. Keep that in mind the next time your watching CNN, MSNBC, or when someone is shoving a microphone into Maher's or Garafalo's face.

And doubly keep that in mind when these vile, pathetic individuals describe common, hard-working, everyday folks who exercise their Constitutional Right to assemble and speak.

I Lay This Directly At The Feet Of The USCCB
And the rest of the Lavender Mafia that's so firmly entrenched in the United States

Pope Benedict can only do so much. If his middle-level managers are undercutting him at every turn, it's time to dump 'em.

Oh, that's right... Roger the Dodger is on his way out.

Anyhow, Donohue hits the nail right on the head. Here's the press release in it's entirety. GAY COVER-UP MUST END

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on two news stories released today by the Associated Press:

One of the AP stories on priestly sexual abuse admits that "The overwhelming majority of the victims were adolescents. That means very few guilty priests were pedophiles, a term mental health professionals reserve for those who target pre-pubescent children." Fine. But then it says something which is positively remarkable: "Even though about 80 percent of victims were boys, the John Jay researchers and other experts on sex offenders say it does not mean the perpetrators were gay." So what would they be? Heterosexual?

The AP article relied on the extraordinary remark by Margaret Smith, a professor who worked on the John Jay study. She said that while Donohue "quoted the study's data correctly," I nonetheless "drew an unwarranted conclusion." What? That most of the molesters have been gay? Here is what she said: "The majority of the abusive acts were homosexual in nature. That participation in homosexual acts is not the same as sexual identity as a gay man." So if two men sodomize each other, no one really knows if this qualifies as gay sex. Now I must admit that when I was studying for my doctorate in sociology at NYU, they never taught me such logic.

Both AP stories say the reason why there were so many male victims is because the priests did not have access to girls as altar servers. Nonsense. There have been girl altar servers in some U.S. dioceses since 1983, and almost everywhere since 1994. The statistics actually show that the more priests have access to girls, the less likely it is for girls to be abused.

Here's the tally. As reported in 2004, between 1950 and 2002, 81 percent of the victims were male; in 2005, it stayed the same; in 2006, it dropped to 80 percent; in 2007, it climbed to 82 percent; in 2008, it jumped to 84 percent; and in 2009, it stayed at 84 percent.

In other words, even though priests have less access to males, homosexual priests are molesting them at a higher rate. It's time to end the gay cover-up once and for all.

Fr. Jenkins of Notre Dame, Lloyd Dean of Catholic Healthcare West, and lawyer who backs same-sex marriage to be commencement speakers at USF

On May 21-22, the 2010 commencement exercises at the Jesuit University of San Francisco will take place, and, in keeping with a pattern that has developed over the years, the university has invited controversial speakers to address graduates of the university’s various schools.

Fr. John Jenkins, C.S.C., president of the University of Notre Dame, will address graduate students of the College of Arts and Sciences. Fr. Jenkins was not too well known before around the end of 2008. That’s when it became known that he had invited pro-abortion President Barack Obama to be commencement speaker and receive an honorary degree at Notre Dame’s May 2009 graduation ceremonies. Fr. Jenkins’ invitation resulted in a firestorm of opposition -- including from his own bishop, who refused to attend the commencement ceremonies. At least 83 bishops publicly went on record in opposition to Fr. Jenkins’ invitation. Like President Obama at Notre Dame, Fr. Jenkins will be awarded an honorary degree by USF.

Lloyd Dean, president and CEO of Catholic Healthcare West, will be the commencement speaker for the USF School of Education and Nursing. Dean, who earned $5.8 million in 2005, and was a donor to the Barack Obama campaign, was quoted in the San Francisco Chronicle on March 28 applauding the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (President Obama’s controversial healthcare bill). “This historic legislation is the first step in the most profound change in health care policy in my lifetime,” Dean told the Chronicle.

Dean is also slated to be awarded an honorary degree from USF.

Dale Minami, a partner with the firm Minami, Lew and Tamaki LLP, will speak to graduates of the USF School of Law. Minami is an outspoken and effective advocate for same-sex “marriage.” On Dec. 8, 2007 Minami, Lew and Tamaki sponsored the Holiday Love 2007 Fundraiser in San Francisco. The fundraiser benefited “Asian Pacific Islander Equality” (API Equality), an advocacy group supporting same sex “marriage.” Mr. Minami will also be awarded an honorary USF degree.

This year’s list of USF commencement speakers continues a trend that has developed over the years. Last year, the university invited South African Bishop Kevin Dowling, who has defied Church teaching on abstinence before marriage and the use of condoms, and San Francisco District Attorney Kamala D. Harris, a vocal opponent of Proposition 8, the constitutional amendment prohibiting same-sex “marriage” supported by the state’s bishops and approved by voters in November 2008.

In May of 2007, current House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco, a longtime supporter of unrestricted abortion, same-sex marriage and embryonic stem cell research, was featured as a USF commencement speaker.

In December 2005, William E. Swing, then Episcopal Bishop of the Diocese of California, received an honorary degree from USF at commencement exercise for undergraduates in the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Nursing, and the McLaren School of Business.

In May of 2004, USF honored Leo McCarthy, a pro-abortion politician and three-term Democratic lieutenant governor of California, at its commencement exercises. McCarthy was a USF graduate and, in 2001, donated $1 million to the university to found the Leo T. McCarthy Center for Public Service and the Common Good.

The center became embroiled in a 2003 controversy when a pro-life Republican candidate for mayor of San Francisco was not permitted to participate in a candidates’ forum held there. “There may be a reason why the Leo T. McCarthy Center was not struck by the oddness of a debate that includes only pro-abortion Catholics,” said an Oct. 10, 2003 editorial in the archdiocesan newspaper. “Its namesake, the former Lieutenant Governor of California, is a staunchly pro-abortion Catholic politician.” When McCarthy died in February 2007, his funeral Mass was held at St. Ignatius Church on the USF campus.
And spare me the bullshit that there isn't already a defacto schism in The Church.

What Every Catholic NEEDS To Know To Defend The Holy Father
Helmet tip to Fr. Gonzales at Overheard in the Sacristy

The accusations against the Pope simply don't pass the Google Test. Feel free to print this off as a handy little cheat sheet if there's anyone you know who is rabid Pope-Basher.

Also, PLEASE pass this info throughout the blogosphere.

Here's some of the article from CatholicCulture.org; (Emphasis mine)

Journalists abandon standards to attack the Pope

We’re off and running once again, with another completely phony story that purports to implicate Pope Benedict XVI in the protection of abusive priests.

The “exclusive” story released by AP yesterday, which has been dutifully passed along now by scores of major media outlets, would never have seen the light of day if normal journalistic standards had been in place. Careful editors should have asked a series of probing questions, and in every case the answer to those questions would have shown that the story had no “legs.”

First to repeat the bare-bones version of the story: in November 1985, then-Cardinal Ratzinger signed a letter deferring a decision on the laicization of Father Stephen Kiesle, a California priest who had been accused of molesting boys.

Now the key questions:

• Was Cardinal Ratzinger responding to the complaints of priestly pedophilia? No. The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, which the future Pontiff headed, did not have jurisdiction for pedophile priests until 2001. The cardinal was weighing a request for laicization of Kiesle.

• Had Oakland’s Bishop John Cummins sought to laicize Kiesle as punishment for his misconduct? No. Kiesle himself asked to be released from the priesthood. The bishop supported the wayward priest’s application.

• Was the request for laicization denied? No. Eventually, in 1987, the Vatican approved Kiesle’s dismissal from the priesthood.

• Did Kiesle abuse children again before he was laicized? To the best of our knowledge, No. The next complaints against him arose in 2002: 15 years after he was dismissed from the priesthood.

• Did Cardinal Ratzinger’s reluctance to make a quick decision mean that Kiesle remained in active ministry? No. Bishop Cummins had the authority to suspend the predator-priest, and in fact he had placed him on an extended leave of absence long before the application for laicization was entered.

• Would quicker laicization have protected children in California? No. Cardinal Ratzinger did not have the power to put Kiesle behind bars. If Kiesle had been defrocked in 1985 instead of 1987, he would have remained at large, thanks to a light sentence from the California courts. As things stood, he remained at large. He was not engaged in parish ministry and had no special access to children.

• Did the Vatican cover up evidence of Kiesle’s predatory behavior? No. The civil courts of California destroyed that evidence after the priest completed a sentence of probation– before the case ever reached Rome.

So to review: This was not a case in which a bishop wanted to discipline his priest and the Vatican official demurred. This was not a case in which a priest remained active in ministry, and the Vatican did nothing to protect the children under his pastoral care. This was not a case in which the Vatican covered up evidence of a priest’s misconduct. This was a case in which a priest asked to be released from his vows, and the Vatican– which had been flooded by such requests throughout the 1970s — wanted to consider all such cases carefully. In short, if you’re looking for evidence of a sex-abuse crisis in the Catholic Church, this case is irrelevant.
