Roger Mahony -
Drama queen
Give me a break already. Looks as if the Thanks-Be-To-God soon to be EX-Archbishop of La-La-Land will be going out with more than a touch of crazy.
Case in point. Here's some of the article from The California Catholic Daily; (Emphasis and comments mine)“German Nazi and Russian Communist techniques”
Cardinal Roger Mahony blasts recently adopted Arizona immigration law
Los Angeles Cardinal Roger Mahony has come down hard a law passed by the Arizona legislature that has been described in the press as “one of the toughest illegal immigration laws in the United States.” The bill would make it a crime in Arizona to be in the state illegally and give local police the power to enforce federal immigration laws. (And this is a bad thing?)
Writing on Sunday, April 18, on “Cardinal Roger Mahony Blogs L.A.,” the Archbishop of Los Angeles called the Arizona law “the country's most retrogressive, mean-spirited, and useless anti-immigrant law… The tragedy of the law is its totally flawed reasoning: that immigrants come to our country to rob, plunder, and consume public resources. That is not only false, the premise is nonsense.” (The good Cardinal is lying, and he knows it. Illegal aliens cost the taxpayers of this nations billions and billions of taxdolllars every year. And Mahony knows it.)
Cardinal Mahony raised an alarming scenario in his commentary on the new Arizona law: “I can't imagine Arizonans now reverting to German Nazi and Russian Communist techniques whereby people are required to turn one another in to the authorities on any suspicion of documentation,” he wrote. (This is patently pathetic. The law enforcement officials of this nation have just been compared to Nazis and Communist thugs. Shame on Roger Mahony.... SHAME!)

TH2 doth very well seeing
He aint got any colionees
THE END
God forgive me, but what a joke this man is. Using comparisons to those murderous regimes in order incite sympathy por los migrantes. People aren’t as dumb as he makes them out to be, uttering those outlandish statements.
It would really be nice if HizEminence would be just as hyperbolic against true abuse and injustice committed against real victims with no voice: those who have been sexually abused by some of the [finger in your mouth] good cardinal’s priests! Last time I checked, it wasn't worthless Mexican pesos filling the collection plates! That in spite of his scandalous behaviour and the wasting of the faithful's tithes!
If culture is so important to HizEminence, his “immigrant” congregations, and Catholics of the cardinal’s ilk, they really should stop honoring a Jewish mom, and stop worshiping her Jewish Son as G-d and Messiah. I think an Aztec god will suffice. Although that sacrifice thing might prove to be a little dicey. Jesus did it once and for all. It was Huitzilopochtli who had to be constantly appeased with fresh blood sacrifices.
Come to think of it, when Christians don’t have Christ as their center, that “botherhood of man” teaching goes out the window. And the church stops being catholic–from the Greek katholikos i.e., universal.
The day is coming in this country, if it’s not already here, where Catholics must “self-hypenate.”:
I’m a Catholic_____.
or
I’m a______Catholic.
What fills the blank is what is most important.
Deport Mahony to Mexico! If he's sooo concerned about social justice for these people, he can give it to them in Mexico where they really need it!
Mahoney is in a state that is broke and a lot of the debt is because of the hundreds of thousands if not millions of illegals in their jails and getting benefits. Mahoney has also driven the dioceses under his leadership into having to pay millions for abuse and cover up.
I think Mahoney should be retired and sent by the Pope to serve Mother Angelica and all her nuns for the rest of his life. It would help him to gain a measure of humilty and perhaps save his soul.
I am so tired of people like him using the term undocumented for those who have broken our laws. That is like saying a bank robber is making undocumented withdrawls or the rapist is doing undocumented love making. You can never fix a problem when you refuse to name the problem.
Drama or not, you may be right about the queen thing, too.
Mahoney can go to Hell.
Not that he will, but I would suggest Cardinal Mahony read paragraph 2241 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
The right to migrate is not absolute & can be mitigated in favor of the common good. & IMMIGRANTS ARE REQUIRED TO OBEY THE LAWS OF THE COUNTRY THEY MOVE TO.
"Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants' duties toward their country of adoption.. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.
" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 2241)
Re: paragraph 2241 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
I recognize the complex nature of immigration and immigration laws and I tend to support what Az is doing, if only to demonstrate publicly that the Federal Gov't is falling down on the job immigration-wise. That said, one of my big problems with the CCC, aside from some wishy-washy language (just like too many other Church documents), is that the CCC should be about morals and theology, the things that have to do with SALVATION.
When the Church takes stands on immigration and a whole host of otherwise worthy SECULAR issues that deal with the generic concept, Social Justice, she waters down the salvation message which is found in "Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus" and "the Catholic Church is the universal sacrament of salvation." After all, Jesus Himself said to Pilate, "My Kingdom is not of this world."
BTW, Social Justice concerns can be handled quite nicely by reference to and implementation of the corporal works of mercy, rather than the pseudo-socialist and not so pseudo-Marxist ideologies underlying so much of social justice in the Church today.
