Social Security, Abortion, and the Year 2025

In 1950, there were 16 workers for each Social Security retiree. Present day, that number has dropped to 3.3 workers per retiree, and by 2025, it will take two workers per retiree.

LifeNews.com is reporting that since the US Supreme Court legalized abortion in 1973, 53 million American children have had their lives terminated via the abortion procedure.

America has always had enough citizens to pay for Social Security. The only problem -- we keep killing them.

USCCB Prez: God - "Call it Him or Her or whatever you want"

In an interview with Fox News, the allegedly conservative President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Archbishop Timothy Dolan of New York waxed poetically in regards to what we should be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

At the 4:20 mark, the good Archbishop actually stated;

"We're grateful to God. We're conscience that somebody, some... call it Him or Her or whatever you want..."One would be hard pressed to find like sentiments from Archbishop Sheen, St. Charles Borromeo, St. Athanasius or any other Catholic who knew even the basics of their Faith.

This Moment of Lunacy was Brought to you by The Second Vatican Council

Rorate Caeli has posted the 'Pre-Party Mass' in the Archiocese of Maringá, Brazil. The novel way of the entrance of the Gospel is quite interesting (1 minute into the video).

Contacted by a concerned Catholic by e-mail, the Archbishop of Maringá responded thus:

The pre-party masses are the mass of the Roman Ritual [sic] which all of us Roman Apostolic Catholics celebrate. It is just celebrated with certain symbols, dances, for young people... [sic]

No one needs to be scandalized by this... [sic]

God bless you!!

Pro-abort nuns group chastises bishops for defending marriage

LifeSiteNews.com is reporting that a dissident group of Catholic nuns has released a statement criticizing the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) for reaffirming the definition of marriage as between a man and a woman while failing to address the problem of homosexual teen suicide.

In the statement released Tuesday, the National Coalition of American Nuns (NCAN) said that the bishops have acted like “blinded Pharisees” in reaffirming the Church’s teaching on marriage while having “failed to make a single statement regarding these tragic, preventable deaths.”

“Not one bishop’s voice was raised to condemn a culture where youths are bullied for being who God created them to be and are sometimes pushed by society’s judgments to attempt suicide.”

Catholic, Russian Orthodox unite to battle "aggressive secular liberalism"

In what many see as the advent of a Great Religious Re-Awakening in Europe, Interfax.com (of Moscow, Russia) is reporting that the Russian Orthodox and the Catholic Church have been effectively cooperating along many avenues, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia told students and diplomats at the Russian Foreign Ministry Diplomatic Academy in Moscow.

"Together with the Roman Catholic Church we have been defending the traditional Christian concept of family and human values from aggressive secular liberalism. Our Churches are waging a common fight against medico-biological experiments incompatible with respect for human dignity," Patriarch Kirill said.

Obama pouts that Americans don't thank him enough

At the end of a meeting between the notoriously thin-skinned Barack Hussein Obama and Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, the pool reporters began filing out of the conference room.

Unexpectantly, one of the pool reporters shouted "Thank you, Mr. President." Obama was informed that the unknown reporter was an Australian.

"I knew it must have been an Australian because my folks never say thank you," Obama said.

There is no truth to the rumor that Obama has taken his ball and gone home.

‘Clown Mass’ priest and New Age cosmologist

The California Catholic Daily is reporting that a priest made infamous by his 2002 “Clown Mass” will team up with a New Age cosmologist for a three-night conference later this month at Christ the King parish in Pleasant Hill in the Oakland diocese.

The topic for the talks is “Who Gets Included,” and will feature Fr. Brian Joyce, pastor of Christ the King parish, and Brian Swimme, a well-known cosmologist on the faculty of the Sophia Center in Culture and Spirituality at Holy Names University and a member of the graduate faculty at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco.

Neither of the men is particularly known for faithfulness to the magisterium.

Fr. Joyce created a worldwide stir among Catholics on Sept. 1, 2002 when he celebrated a “Clown Mass” at his parish. His homily for the Mass was entitled, “The Clown and the Cross.”

Among other things, Fr. Joyce quoted Sr. Carol Zinn, a representative for the Congregations of St. Joseph at the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, who said, “If human life disappeared tomorrow, if the human race disappeared tomorrow, every other species on the planet would benefit eightfold, except for our house plants and our pets. They've been domesticated and it would take them a couple of generations, but they would come back and they would be OK.” Fr. Joyce said in his homily the comment by Sr. Zinn “was very striking to me.”

GW Bush: Waterboarding saved British lives

The Times (of London) is reporting, via the Drudge Report, that George W. Bush has claimed that information extracted from terrorist suspects by “waterboarding” saved British lives by preventing attacks on Heathrow and Canary Wharf.

In an exclusive interview with The Times, the former US President offered a vigorous defence of the coercive interrogation technique: “Three people were waterboarded and I believe that decision saved lives.” He denied that waterboarding, which simulates drowning, amounted to torture.

Asked if he authorised the use of waterboarding to get information from the captured al-Qaeda leader Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, he was unequivocal: “Damn right!”

Catholics make up almost a third of NC's Congressmen - all Republicans

It's being reported by the Charlotte Observer that there was a time, in the not-too-distant past, when Catholics were a tiny minority in the Carolinas.

In North Carolina, in fact, the 1776 Constitution forbade the election of any person who "denied the truth of the Protestant religion." In 1835, it was amended to replace Protestant with Christian - thanks to N.C. jurist and politician William Gaston, one of the few Catholics to reach high office in the state in those early years.

This week, it was two Republican Catholics from the Carolinas who made national headlines by helping the GOP take control of the U.S. House of Representatives.

And if her narrow lead holds up in a recount, nurse Renee Ellmers - a Sunday school teacher at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dunn - will have unseated veteran Democratic Rep. Bob Etheridge in North Carolina's 2nd Congressional District.

Alleged Catholic priests support pro-abortion, pro-homosexual groups

CatholicCulture.org is reporting that even as lay Catholic activists have renewed their criticism of ties between the Catholic Campaign for Human Development and radical activist groups, liberal priests in the Chicago archdiocese are urging Cardinal Francis George to roll back reforms of the local CCHD effort.

A group of Chicago priests, led by Father Larry Dowling of St. Agatha’s parish, is circulating a petition to Cardinal George protesting these reforms. The priests’ letter charges that the changes in the Chicago CCHD effort have “done great damage in a number of ways.”

The priests’ letter expresses resentment that CCHD grant applications in the Chicago archdiocese are being vetted by a selection committee “including lay people who openly described CCHD as defective and ‘needing fixing.’” They argue that it is insulting for grant applications to be asked whether their organizations are involved in advocacy for abortion or same-sex marriage.

Obama Administration to submit to the United Nations

According to the Washington Times, the United States is submitting its human rights record to the scrutiny of other nations, both allies and adversaries, for the first time, as the Obama administration opens itself up to a committee shunned by his predecessor.

The three-hour U.N. review Friday will have more than a few uncomfortable moments for the high-level U.S. delegation, which is sure to face questions over the use of torture in the war on terror, not dismantling the prison at Guantanamo Bay, the death penalty, immigration policy, the treatment of racial minorities and questions of religious freedom.

The Bush administration shunned the U.N. Human Rights Council, which runs the so-called Universal Public Reviews, because of the participation of repressive states and its constant criticism of Israel.

Jamil Dakwar, director of the ACLU human rights program, said it is important that the United States matches its rhetoric with concrete domestic policies and actions.
