Today, Miami... Tomorrow, San Jose?
We can only hope

I've posted about the antics of Presider Jon Pedigo in the past. Someone needs to remind this guy what The Lord nuked Sodom and Gomorrah.

But in the meantime, know that his not only non-Catholic, but anti-Catholic views are celebrated and encouraged in the Diocese of San Jose.

Here's some of the article from The California Catholic Daily; (Emphasis mine)
“Well-established and time honored”
San Jose diocese touts secular award to ‘gay-friendly priest’ who questions tradition

Father Jon Pedigo, the ‘gay-friendly’ pastor of St. Julie Billiart Parish in San Jose who openly opposed Proposition 8 and says the current hierarchical structure of the Church is irrelevant, was given the Director’s Award by the Santa Clara County Office of Human Relations on Thursday, April 22, in ceremonies at the Wyndham Hotel in San Jose.

Fr. Pedigo’s award was promoted on the San Jose diocesan website, which said he “has been selected to receive the prestigious Directors' Award from the Santa Clara County Office of Human Relations. Father Pedigo will be honored for his efforts in promoting positive human relations and civil rights in Santa Clara County. Father Pedigo is the Director of the Catholic Campaign for Immigration Reform for the Diocese of San Jose.”

That the diocese would promote Fr. Pedigo and the award comes as no surprise since, according to a cover story in the Silicon Valley alternative weekly MetroActive published in November 2009, “Secretly, San Jose is the most gay-friendly diocese in the nation.”

In a lengthy interview that was part of the MetroActive story, Fr. Pedigo said, “I believe that as the upper echelons of ecclesial power worry themselves with the window dressings of Christian tradition and thus fade into irrelevance, there will be a renaissance of a more 'radical' or 'root' Christian faith."
V. Sancte Josephe.

"Extra Democrat Party, Nulla Salus"
Translation - Outside The Democratic Party, There Is No Salvation

What happens when Sacred Writ is replaced by the Platform of the Democratic Party? Could it be the same thing that happens when Sacred Tradition is replaced by the history of "The Spirit of Vatican II"?

Hold your collective noses and read on to find out what happens. Here's some from The California Catholic Daily (Comments and emphasis mine) “Antithetical to the Catholic ethos”
Special "Mass for Democrats" to be celebrated at San Jose diocesan cathedral

When California Democrats gather this coming weekend for their state convention in San Jose, delegates will have the opportunity to attend a special Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Joseph, the seat of the Diocese of San Jose, located just a half-mile from the convention site.

The Mass is sponsored by a group that calls itself Catholic Democrats of California, the state affiliate of a national group based in Boston known as Catholic Democrats.

“Some have asked why the group is focused on Catholic issues and spirituality, as opposed to broader Christian themes,” the web site continues. “Because conservatives have increasingly used Catholic language and Catholic congregations to advance their economic agenda and political interests, we have felt a special obligation as Catholics to enunciate the reasons why we think many of the current conservatives stances are so antithetical to the Catholic ethos -- on poverty, on war, on racial strife, and perhaps especially on abortion and other social issues.”
(Oh really? Those nasty Conservatives are speaking out on abortion? Surely they can't be pro-life... like you folks, right? Oops, but then I read the very next paragraph with wonderfully illustrates how hypocritical you sorry bastards really are)

The proposed platform of the California Democratic Party specifically mentions abortion, but under the euphemism “reproductive rights." The state party “proudly and vigorously supports a woman’s right to choose how to use her mind, her body and her time,” says a draft version of the platform.

The platform pledges to “preserve confidential, unrestricted access to affordable, quality and culturally appropriate health and reproductive services, including contraception and emergency contraception, without requiring guardian, judicial, parental or spousal consent or notification.”
(Gee, I'm ready to join Catholic Democrats of California right now, how 'bout you?)

In addition, the platform says California Democrats “support the LGBT community in its quest for the right to legal marriage.” (Ooooooh! Where do I sign up!!??)

The Mass at the cathedral is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, at 7:15 a.m., and will be officiated by Fr. Jon Pedigo, pastor of St. Julie Billiart parish in San Jose. “Join us as we come together to share the social justice teachings of Catholic Democrats,” says an announcement of the Mass on the California group’s web site. ("Social Justice"! I'm there, baby! But isn't the Mass suppose to be about the Unbloody Sacrifice of Christ on Calvary? Hmmm.....)

Fr. Pedigo, “a native of the Bay Area, has been active in civic affairs and social justice causes for over 25 years,” notes the parish web site. “Since his ordination to the Diocese of San José in 1991, Fr. Pedigo has been involved with several local social justice causes and inter-faith dialogues.” (MORE "Social Justice"!!)

The state Democratic Party Convention begins on Friday, March 28, and concludes on Sunday, March 30. On opening night, says a preliminary agenda, the “Chair's Welcome Reception” will feature “Special Guest, Speaker Nancy Pelosi.” (Don't they mean Her Holiness, Pope Nancy?)
Did anyone ever notice any mention of the salvation of souls? How about The Kingship of Christ? Neither did I.

All joking aside, the "priest" in question and the bishop of San Jose are in desperate need of prayers. It's obvious that they consider the salvation of their immortal souls to be found in the Democratic Party, and the Catholic Church is nothing more than a means to an end to this bastardized version of secular salvation.

Saint Joseph, pray for us and especially the diocese dedicated to you.

Another "Fruit" Of Vatican II
You know exactly what I mean

Here's the article in it's entirety from The California Catholic;

Gay Catholics come out in San Jose diocese
Bolder steps planned

Editor: The following is an excerpt from a story which appeared Nov. 8 in the Metro, the alternative paper for the Silicon Valley.

The Diocese of San Jose has long been one of the most gay-friendly Roman Catholic ecclesiastical territories in the United States. Few people know this, and many in the local Catholic community would like it stay that way.

On the orders of former Bishop Roland Pierre DuMaine and current Bishop Patrick Joseph McGrath, the diocese has been able to offer ministry and support to local gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Catholics for more than 20 years by operating under the radar.

Recently, progressive Catholic leaders and members of the San Jose religious community are working to change this tentative approach to gay Catholic ministry.

In fact, led by (Fr. Jon) Pedigo, St. Julie Billiart Parish has developed a strong following among Silicon Valley's gay Catholics. Currently, the church's pastoral staff is considering a proposal to take even more open and bold steps toward the establishment of church-directed LGBT outreach, along with helping other parishes extend a hand to their own gay parishioners.

To read the entire Metro story, Click Here.

On Jan. 7, 2007, California Catholic Daily published a story about Fr. Pedigo -- “Father-Mother-Creator-Friend.” To read that story, Click Here.
So out of curiosity, I visited the website for St. Julies, a self-described "Diverse & Progressive Roman Catholic community".

Just on the homepage itself, "Father Jon's" picture is posted four times, and his name is typed out six times, as well a an entire section celebrating the Chief Baby-Killer himself, The South-Side Stooge.

Draw your own conclusions.

"Saint" César Chávez?
Patron Saint of those who beat the crap out of illegal aliens
WARNING! Harsh language alert

Of all the phony garbage I've ever heard or read, this bull shit rates right up there in the Top Ten. Here's some of the article from The California Catholic Daily; (Emphasis and comments mine) “I’m not going full guns”
César Chavez canonization effort receives tentative support from Bishop Garcia

An “anonymous Bay Area movement” is working to prepare the ground for the canonization of a saint. A Californian saint. César Chavez.

NBC 11 news reported last week that Chavez’s suitability for sainthood is being investigated by the anonymous group, with at least some support from the bishop of Monterey, Richard Garcia. Asked if he were giving his support to the effort, Garcia told NBC11 he was giving it “my listening support. I’m not going full guns because I want them to make a very clean and good investigation.”

Any movement, though, to canonize the founder of the United Farm Workers would meet with opposition, Garcia admitted. “I think there’s an awful lot of ranchers and farmers who remember the difficulties of that time,” said Garcia.
("Difficulties"? You mean the many ranchers and farmers who had very little to do with the UFW, but Chávez tried his damnedest to put out of business because they wouldn't kowtow to him and his demands? Those "difficulties"?)

In favor of Chavez’s sanctity are his self-sacrifice in the non-violent struggle to organize farm workers, his devotion to Mary (Our Lady of Guadalupe was always carried at the front of the line in Chavez’s marches), and his Eucharistic devotion. Chavez “was a Mass communicant, meaning he went to Mass every day,” Fr. Jon Pedigo, pastor of St. Julie Billiart parish in San Jose, told NBC 11. (Wow, he carried a painting of The Blessed Mother at his marches and went to Mass every day. Does that mean he rates Canonization? Suuuuuuure.... lets make him a Saint already!)

Yet, Chavez participated in homosexual rights marches, including one in Washington, D.C. in 1991. Paul Chavez, César’s son, said of this (to the April 1997 Los Angeles Mission) that, while his father was a “traditional Mexican and Catholic,” he participated in the march because he believed homosexuals are children of God. (And "Saint" César can't differentiate between love the sinner, hate the sin? I guess he failed to realize that these marches were in support of the homosexual lifestyle, huh? If he really gave a hoot in hell about them, he's pray for their souls and that they would reject sin.)

Paul Chavez said his father was an assiduous student of the papal social encyclicals. The Mission article described César’s office, left as it had been when he died in 1993. His library included the encyclicals of Popes Leo XIII and Pius XI, alongside other Catholic religious writings and the works of Gandhi. The office was decorated with Catholic religious images (including Our Lady of Guadalupe) and a statute of Buddha. (No man goes to The Father except through Gandhi and Buddha. The Gospel of César. I hate to tell Saint César this, but the works of Gandhi and Buddha are worthless. If there's a particular truth you search for, Catholicism's already got it.)

César’s sister, Rita Medina, told NBC 11 that she welcomed the idea of her brother’s canonization. “It would be a great honor for the whole family,” she said. “You know, your brother a saint. God, that would be something.” (How eloquent. I'll bet this gal can break the land speed record for saying "you know"... God, you know?)
But we have this delectable morsel from March, 2005 via the San Diego Union-Tribune;
Here's the ironic part: Despite the fact that Chávez is these days revered among Mexican-American activists, the labor leader in his day was no more tolerant of illegal immigration than the Arizona Minutemen are now. Worried that the hiring of illegal immigrants drove down wages, Chávez – according to numerous historical accounts – instructed union members to call the Immigration and Naturalization Service to report the presence of illegal immigrants in the fields and demand that the agency deport them. UFW officials were even known to picket INS offices to demand a crackdown on illegal immigrants. And in 1973, in one of the most disgraceful chapters in UFW history, the union set up a "wet line" to prevent Mexican immigrants from entering the United States. Under the guidance of Chávez 's cousin, Manuel, UFW members tried at first to convince the immigrants not to cross. When that didn't work, they physically attacked the immigrants and left some bloody in the process. It happened in the same place that the Minutemen are now planning to gather: the Arizona-Mexico border.

At the time, The Village Voice said that the UFW conducted a "campaign of random terror against anyone hapless enough to fall into its net." In their book, "The Fight in the Fields," Susan Ferris and Ricardo Sandoval recall the border incident and write that the issue of how to deal with the undocumented was "particularly vexing" for Chávez.
I've made no bones about it... I'm dead set against illegal immigration. But I've never had my minions beat the shit out of 'em. Too bad "Saint" César can't say the same thing.
