The Decline And Fall Of The American Republic

I've posted about DingleBarry's Science Führer in the past.
Gauleiter der Science John Holdren has advocated a “planetary regime” to battle the Global Warming windmill; trees have the legal right to sue; newborn babies will "ultimately develop into a human beings"; and floated the idea of forced abortions and compulsory sterilization.
What a guy.
Anyhoo, we now see that our Science Bubba is the numero uno cheerleader for American mediocrity. Here's some of the article from CNSNews.com; (Emphasis mine)
White House Science ‘Czar’ Tells Students: U.S. Can’t Expect to Be Number One in Science and Technology Forever
(CNSNews.com) – The Obama administration’s top science and technology official, who has argued for the economic de-development of America, warned science students last Friday that the United States cannot expect to be “number one” forever.
“We can’t expect to be number one in everything indefinitely,” Dr. John P. Holdren said at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
Holdren is director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and chairs the President’s Council of Advisors on Science & Technology (PCAST), making him the top science adviser in the administration. *Humph* School kids all across the nation must be asking "why even try?"

I would gladly settle for the United States being number one in religion, particularly Christianity. I would even settle for the past, historical, "Protestant" Christianity that the United States used to be. We can deal with and negotiate with Protestants. Not so with an atheist/secularist government (note I did not say SECULAR.) E.g., the Soviet Union, Cuba, Albania, Red China (even today), Vietnam, etc.
I wasn't clear in the above statement. I meant to say I can live with the U.S. not being "tops" in science & technology if we can be "tops" in religion.
Well ironically, I think if we were "tops" in religion then we would inevitably continue to be tops in science and technology. If we were truly Catholic, then we never fall into the socialistic trap of thinking that we can create heaven on earth and the combination of the graces flowing from the faith with our free entreprenuerial tradition would make our country thrive and would ensure that America would continue to be the envy of the world in perpetuity.
