America Never Fought A Revolutionary War!
And we never a Civil War, either

Maybe this is just the stickler for historical accuracy coming out in me... but America never did fight a revolution. Strictly speaking, a revolution is when an outside faction attempts to gain control of government from the faction in power.

The Colonies never sought to overthrow the King or his parliament. We fought for our independence from them. The French fought a revolution, as did the Russians. But we American didn't. What we fought was a War of Independence.

And a civil war is when one co-equal faction seeks to totally (and on rare occasion, partially) seeks to eliminate another co-equal faction from any power. The English fought a civil war, as did the Spanish.

The Confederacy never tried to conquer the North, just the right to secede from the Union. What we Americans fought was a War of Secession. Or as proper Southerners say: The War of Southern Independence. Or as angry Southerners say: The War of Northern Aggression. Or as South Carolinians (like Mrs. Caveman) say: The War When The North Invaded America.
The Great Catholic Re-Awakening Continues In SF
...And Jesuits lead the way!

Aren't we the lucky ones to be living through this period in time that's been branded 'The Springtime of The Church'?

Here's some of the article from The California Catholic Daily; (Emphasis mine)
Three courses with six students in each class
University of San Francisco shutting down graduate theology program

Beginning this fall, the Jesuit-run University of San Francisco will end its graduate program in theology, citing low demand for its Master of Arts in Theology.

“The university currently does not offer a Master of Arts in Theology and is not accepting applications for Fall 2009 admission,” says an announcement on the university’s website under the heading, “Theology Graduate Program Overview.”

USF spokesman Gary McDonald told Catholic San Francisco, the archdiocesan weekly, that in the current semester, there were sufficient students for just three courses, with an average enrollment of six in each class.

The university will instead “focus its resources on undergraduate theology and religious studies,” reported the April 24 edition of Catholic San Francisco.
And what a rousing success the Undergrad program has been, huh? I gotta say it again, gang... by their fruits, you shall know them.

And of course, there have been some success stories in regards to The New & Improved Vatican II Approved Catholic Church. But let's not look at the aerial photograph of Catholicism from 100 feet... let's look at the shot from 10,000 feet.

Only then can we objectively view the ruin that has transformed our once virile and morally strong Church into a sickly, confused old man who on a daily basis gets smacked around and spit on by his own children.

The 'Fresh Breeze' Stinks
This must be that 'Springtime of the Church' I've heard so much about

On the heels of the posting I did yesterday concerning the Pew Research Center's Forum on Religion & Public Life, here's some of the article from CatholicCulture.org; 23 million ex-Catholic adults in US; 6 million converts to Catholicism A new survey has found that 10.1% of America’s estimated 230 million adults are former Catholics, while 2.6% of American adults are converts to Catholicism. Thus there are roughly 4 adult Americans who have left the faith for every 1 who has entered the Church.Lousy catechises, ambiguous liturgy, spineless 'leadership', subjective morality, theological liberalism... is any of this really that shocking?

I seem to recall reading something along the lines of 'by their fruits you shall know them'.

What is it About the Extraordinary Form?
Follow up to Caveness' Posting about the Fruits of Vatican II

It is interesting as I read through all of the comments from VSC's post regarding the NO Mass and the EF Mass. There were some that talked about other impacts during that time, like material satisfaction, general lack of formation, etc....

His point is that these conditions that we see now, loss of faith, lack of formation, worldliness are all fruits that were born from the radicalization of the Mass. The Sacred Liturgy is the linchpin of the Catholic Faith. Do not forget that at Mass we travel back in time to that moment on Calvary when Our Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins. How can you focus your mind and travel back when you have tons of people glad handing each other, holding hands, and walking up into the sanctuary to help distribute communion.

The NO Mass was turned into a self worship Mass by radicals. When done properly it can be a very beautiful Mass, but lets face it, nothing will ever quiet the mind as well as the EF. The mind must be quiet so that the soul can receive its weekly (wishing it could be daily) repair and grace. Otherwise your are just going to a weekly gathering of your favorite Sunday club. It is highly unlikely that anyone is spending much time thanking God for another week to try to perfect their soul when the focus is so horizontal.

By bending to the world we have let our culture lose the respect and sanctity of Sunday, the workplace and public schools respecting Holy Days. Not to mention the very direct and purposeful development of vocations to the Priesthood.

One other mention I will make here is that there is literally no argument for Mass in the vernacular. Latin is universal, it is easily understood and is the base language from which many languages were derived. If I am travelling in another country and they are saying Mass in their local language I am out of touch. If they are using Latin, I am in touch. Also having to focus on what is going on and following the Mass in your missal you begin to get a much deeper understanding and appreciation for what is occurring before you. Not to mention that the wording used at Mass when verbalized in the vernacular loses some of its impact through familiarity. This is a hard one for me to explain, but I will try to give an example. I am around my Priest fairly often compared to the "average" parishioner. I work hard at making sure that I do not become to "familiar" for fear of allowing the level of respect I show to diminish. It happens when we become too "familiar". The Latin makes a person work harder at prayer and when assisting at Mass. The NO and use of vernacular allows a soul to become slouchy and dare I say slothy (I know it is not a word).

Anyway, the slow and steady move back to the Extraordinary Form is exactly what the Catholic Church needs, if you are not being provided this opportunity you should immediately petition your Bishop, with all proper respect and patience!

Thanks VSC for a great post!

To All My Friends Who Attend The Mass Of Paul VI
AKA: the Novus Ordo 'New Mass'

One doesn't have to be a rocket surgeon or a brain scientist to figure out that the vast majority of folks who visit The Lair are either Traddy Catholics or those who would classify themselves as Conservative Novus Ordo. And I really do consider the latter to be sincere in the shared struggle we all face - just trying to be good, faithful Catholics as best we can.

And with this post, I'm not trying to alienate or piss off anyone who regularly attends the New Mass.

With that said, take a peek at some of this article from The California Catholic Daily; (Emphasis mine)
“They stopped believing”
Survey finds Americans change religions often, says Catholics typically leave Church because of loss of faith

Washington, D.C. -- A new survey by the Pew Research Center's Forum on Religion & Public Life finds that Americans change their religious affiliation early and often, and the reasons they give for changing -- or leaving religion altogether -- differ widely depending on the origin and destination of the convert.

Key findings include:

Many people who have left the Catholic Church say they did so because they stopped believing in Catholic teachings. This is true for half of Catholics who have become Protestant as well as two-thirds of Catholics who have become unaffiliated. Many fewer say they left because of the clergy sexual abuse scandal.

In contrast with other groups, Americans who have switched from one Protestant denominational family (e.g., Baptist, Methodist) to another tend to do so because of changes in life circumstances, such as marriage or moving to a new community.
This is stunning. It should come as no big surprise when Protestants switch from one denomination to another, especially in light that just about every Protestant denomination can be summed up in the following three sentences:

Salvation by faith alone.
Personal interpretation of Sacred Scriptures.
Rejection of Papal supremacy.

Presbyterian to Methodist... Episcopalian to Lutheran... in essence, no real difference. They still believe the same basics, the only change is the spelling of their particular denomination.

But look at why Catholics are leaving -- They're rejecting core Catholic beliefs. Allow me to say that once again, but with greater emphasis. THEY'RE. REJECTING. CORE. CATHOLIC. BELIEFS. Any red flags being raised yet?

And with all that in mind, here are a few stats I've pulled from Pat Buchanan's 2002's article Index of Leading Catholic Indicators: The Church Since Vatican II by Kenneth C. Jones; Attendance at Mass. A 1958 Gallup Poll reported that three in four Catholics attended church on Sundays. A recent study by the University of Notre Dame found that only one in four now attend.

Only 10 percent of lay religious teachers now accept church teaching on contraception. Fifty-three percent believe a Catholic can have an abortion and remain a good Catholic. Sixty-five percent believe that Catholics may divorce and remarry. Seventy-seven percent believe one can be a good Catholic without going to mass on Sundays. By one New York Times poll, 70 percent of all Catholics in the age group 18 to 44 believe the Eucharist is merely a "symbolic reminder" of Jesus.
I think Buchanan put it best; At the opening of Vatican II, reformers were all the rage. They were going to lead us out of our Catholic ghettos by altering the liturgy, rewriting the Bible and missals, abandoning the old traditions, making us more ecumenical, and engaging the world. And their legacy?

Four decades of devastation wrought upon the church, and the final disgrace of a hierarchy that lacked the moral courage of the Boy Scouts to keep the perverts out of the seminaries, and throw them out of the rectories and schools of Holy Mother Church.

Through the papacy of Pius XII, the church resisted the clamor to accommodate itself to the world and remained a moral beacon to mankind. Since Vatican II, the church has sought to meet the world halfway.

Jones' statistics tell us the price of appeasement.
I've heard it so many times: "Catholics won't attend the Latin Mass because they don't understand what's being said". So why is it that pre-Vatican II, most baptized Catholics actually attended Mass and adhered to the very basics of Catholicism, but the same simply cannot be said post-Vatican II.

And as far as the whole English vs Latin debate is concerned, anyone else recall the following passage from Sacred Scripture; They hear, but they don't listen. Could it be because there's 'something' about the Latin Mass that the New Mass is lacking? Or could it be because the New Mass has such a different emphasis than the Latin Mass?

Honestly, I don't understand why so many Catholics can't (won't?) come to grips with the fact that this brief flirtation with Protestantism (the 'Spirit' of Vatican II) has been an absolute and utter disaster.

For those who don't attend the Traditional Latin Mass, I ask you with the greatest humility -- take a new look at the Mass that nurtured and strengthened centuries and centuries of Catholic Saints... and take a new look at the Mass that has Catholics leaving The Church in droves.

'The Truth': D'Antuono Cancels Unveiling of Obama Painting Due to Public Outrage

NEW YORK, April 27 /
PRNewswire/ -- Painter Michael D'Antuono has cancelled the planned public unveiling of his latest work "The Truth" at NYC's Union Square Park on President Obama's 100th day in office due to overwhelming public outrage. The artist's decision was based in part on thousands of emails and phone calls; online blogs and other public commentary received in the first 48 hours following its release.

The painting which was first made public on Friday depicts President Obama appearing much like Jesus Christ on the Cross; atop his head, a crown of thorns. Behind him, the dark veil being lifted (or lowered) on the Presidential Seal. The photo was the most emailed picture on the web.

Australian Archbishop Bans Jokes About Jews
Published on: Apr 24, 2009 at 09:18 AM

The Archbishop of Adelaide has told Catholics they should not tell Jewish jokes or use the Jewish name Yahweh in readings and songs.

In a pastoral letter to priests, Archbishop Philip Wilson has asked for a substitute word such as Lord to be used instead of the Jewish sacred name. Archbishop Wilson says Catholics must be respectful and sensitive towards Jewish people.

"It won't be confusing if you use the word Lord as a substitute or another word as a substitute, then that will work really well.

"My sense about this is we have to be especially careful about the way that we talk about the Jewish people because of the way that they've been persecuted and treated for over a thousand years, and especially during the Holocaust in the Second World War," he said.
Archbishop Wilson failed to mention Polish Catholics, Catholic Gypsies, Ukrainian Catholics, trade unionists or anyone else who was thrown in the death camps. What's a few million dead Catholics? Such a schlemiel!

And as far as the use of 'Yahweh' is concerned, I guess the good archbishop didn't catch wind of the Vatican directive of more than a few months ago;

Holy See Stops Use of 'Yahweh' in Catholic Worship
The decree is contained in a letter to bishops from the Vatican Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments dated June 29 and addressed to Episcopal conferences around the world.

VATICAN (CISA) - The Vatican has ruled that the word Yahweh must not "be used or pronounced" in songs and prayers during Catholic masses.

The decree is contained in a letter to bishops from the Vatican Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments dated June 29 and addressed to Episcopal conferences around the world.

And The List Grows...
Satan infiltrates higher education

Let's put Notre Dame, St. Joseph's and Xavier aside for a moment. The list of "Catholic" schools inviting anti-Catholics continues to grow...

Here's an interesting headline announcement from St Michael's College in Vermont (the Edmundite Order); US Secretary of Education Arne Duncan to be Saint Michael's College Commencement Speaker 2009Is this the same Arne Duncan who pitched the idea of an explicitly gay-friendly school, where half of the students were expected to identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender? Sure is. Does anyone in their right mind really think that celibacy is advocated in Arne's "Social Justice Solidarity High School"? And yes, that's really the proposed name.

Now we come to St. Bonaventure University in New York (Franciscan) who've invited Wolf Blitzer of CNN to be their commencement speaker. The same Wolfie who; (Helmet tip to the good folks over at American Catholic.) ...referred to James Cardinal Stafford's criticism of Barack Obama’s abortion position as a “scathing rant“ and a “diatribe.“ A CNN graphic also used the “scathing rant” term, and Blitzer later referred to the cardinal’s words as a “blistering rant.“Thanks a lot Franciscans. Honor those who foam at the mouth at anyone who would dare question His Obamaness?

Then there's St. Vincent's College in Pennsylvania (Benedictine) who initially invited Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA). Is this the same Bob Casey that supports federal funding for contraceptives, and also supports the legalization of homosexual civil unions? In Casey's own words; “I do support same sex unions that would give gay couples all the rights, privileges and protections of marriage.”Thank God, his invitation was yanked. But why was he invited to begin with? But if you're a big Bob Casey fan, don't sweat it... Holy Cross invited him.
Update on New SSPX Rosary Crusade

FULL ENGLISH VERSION (SSPX - UNITED KINGDOM):
Just as we were launching a second Rosary Crusade at our Lourdes pilgrimage last October, we hardly expected such a swift answer from Heaven! As for the Vicar of Christ’s Motu Proprio liberating the traditional Mass, our second entreaty was answered even more swiftly by the Blessed Virgin, because on the very same visit I made to Rome in January to put in the Sovereign Pontiff’s hands our bouquet of 1,703,000 Rosaries, Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos put in my own hands the decree lifting the “excommunications” of 1988!

That is something we had asked for back in 2001, as a sign of good will on the part of the Vatican towards the Traditional movement. For, ever since the Council, everything Traditional or seeking to be Traditional in the Church has been undergoing one vexation after another, up to and including our being cast into exile. Naturally that undermined partially or even totally, ones trust in the Roman authorities. As long as that trust is not partially restored, as I said at the time, the relations between Rome and ourselves will hardly exist. Trust is not just a nice feeling, it is a fruit that grows all on its own when one can recognize in the Roman authorities shepherds who have the interests of everything Traditional at heart. That was the meaning of our two preliminary requests. It is impossible to understand our present position and attitude towards the Holy See if one does not take into account the state of crisis prevailing in the Church, which is no superficial matter, nor just a personal opinion. It is a reality quite independent of our way of looking at it, which is admitted now and again by those authorities, and verified all the time by the facts.
There are numerous and varied aspects to the crisis, some profound, some merely circumstantial, but everyone suffers from it. What strikes the faithful above all are the updated liturgical ceremonies—very often scandalous, alas! and the day-to-day preaching from the pulpit of positions on moral questions in direct contradiction to the age-old teaching of the Church and the example of the Saints. Very often parents have been grieved by their children’s losing the Faith, after having been entrusted to Catholic schools, or by their almost complete ignorance of Catholic doctrine, thanks to the lack of any proper catechism. A countless number of members of religious orders, through their Constitutions having been re-written and their minds re-trained according to Vatican II, show that they have lost the spirit of the Gospel, in particular, self-renunciation, poverty and sacrifice. This loss has almost immediately resulted in such a falling off of vocations that a number of Orders and Congregations are closing their houses one after another, or disappearing altogether. The situation of many dioceses is just as dramatic.

All of which forms a coherent whole that did not happen merely by chance, but arose out of a Council setting out to reform everything, and claiming to bring even the Church up to date. Yet we are accused of either seeing a crisis where there is none, or of wrongly blaming the Council for a disastrous and enormously serious situation which anyone can recognize, or again of profiting by that situation to justify a wrongful attitude of rebellion and independence.

On the contrary, pick up the writings of the Church Fathers, or the Magisterium, or the Liturgy or Theology down the ages, and you find a unity of teaching and example to which we cleave with all our heart. This unity of doctrine is in practice heavily contradicted, thwarted and attacked by present ways of doing things. We are not imagining things when we say there has been a break. The break is all too real. To observe how the Bishops of certain countries treat us even after the “excommunications” were withdrawn, is enough for one to see how deeply the up-dated churchmen reject anything that smacks of Tradition. The only name that can be given to such an occurrence is a break with the past.

For again, as surprising as was the appearance of the Decree of January 21, just as astonishing was the violence of the reaction of the progressives and leftists in general with regard to ourselves. By Bishop Williamson’s unfortunate words they may well have been handed a golden opportunity to smear the whole Society of St. Pius X and to treat it as a scapegoat, but the truth of the matter is that we were merely an instrument in a much more important struggle, the struggle of Mother Church, truly called the Church Militant , against the evil spirits prowling through the atmosphere, as St. Paul says. It is no presumption on our part to say the Society has just now been playing a part in Church history, the history of the titanic struggle for the salvation of souls, announced in the Book of Genesis and described so dramatically in the Revelation of St. John. Normally this struggle confines itself to the spiritual domain, but every now and again it flows over from words and souls into the bodily domain, and then it becomes visible, as with open persecutions.

In all that has happened these last few months we should see a particularly intense moment of this struggle. It is clear as clear can be that the main target being aimed at is the Vicar of Christ as he attempts to undertake a certain restoration of the Church. A coming together of the Head of the Church and the Traditional movement is much feared, as is any going back on the novelties of Vatican II, so everything possible is done to prevent it. What does the Pope truly think? What position is he taking? Jews and progressives want to force him to choose between Vatican II and ourselves…. to such a point that to re-assure them, the Secretariat of State could find nothing better than to lay down as a necessary condition for our canonical re-instatement the complete acceptance of what we consider to be the main source of the current problems we have always been opposed to!.... Yet those churchmen are bound, as are we all, by the Anti-modernist Oath and all the other Church condemnations of modern novelties. Thus we refuse to approach Vatican II from any other angle than that of the Solemn Declarations (Profession of Faith and Anti-modernist Oath) drawn up before God and the Church. And if the Council is incompatible with such Declarations, then it is the novelties that must be wrong. We are relying on the up-coming doctrinal discussions to clarify these points as much as possible.

Profiting from the new situation arising from the withdrawal of the “excommunications” which has actually left the canonical status of the Society unchanged, several Bishops try to square the circle by demanding that we obey Canon Law to the letter on every point, as though we were perfectly in order, at the same time as they declare we have no canonical existence! One German Bishop has announced that by year’s end the Society will once more be out of the Church… Nice of him! In fact the only possible solution is the one we already asked for, namely an intermediary status, necessarily incomplete and canonically imperfect, but generally accepted as being intermediary, without our having to be constantly accused of disobedience and rebellion, without our having ridiculous prohibitions thrown at us. When all is said and done, one more proof that the Church finds itself in an abnormal state, which we call a state of necessity, is the present words and deeds of certain Bishops with regard to the Pope and Tradition.

So how will things develop from here? We have no idea. We stand by our proposal to accept our present imperfect situation as being temporary, even while we enter into the doctrinal discussions that have been announced, in the hope that they will bear fruit.

But on this difficult path, in the face of such violent opposition, we ask you, dear faithful, once more to resort to prayer. It seems to us that the moment has come to launch a major offensive, firmly anchored in the message of Our Lady at Fatima, where she promised us success, announcing that in the end her Immaculate Heart will triumph. This is the triumph we are asking her for by the means she herself requested, namely the Consecration of Russia to Her Immaculate Heart by the Supreme Pastor and all the Bishops of the Catholic world, and the spread of the devotion to her Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart. So for this purpose we wish to offer her by March 2010 a bouquet of 12 million Rosaries, like a crown of 12 million stars all around her, to be accompanied by a similar quantity of daily sacrifices to be drawn above all from the faithful accomplishment of our duty of state, while we promise to spread the devotion to her Immaculate Heart. We are firmly convinced that if we take care to do what she says, we will obtain much more than we could ever have hoped, and above all we will make sure of our salvation by benefiting from the graces she has promised us.

So we ask also of our priests a special effort to make this devotion easier of access for our faithful, by putting the accent not only on the Communion of Reparation of the first Saturdays of the month, but also on living very close to Our Lady through the consecration to her Immaculate Heart. It would also be good to know better and to deepen the spirituality of Fr. Maximilian Kolbe, the great herald of the Immaculate.

Our Society was consecrated to the Immaculate Heart 25 years ago this year. We wish to renew this happy initiative of Fr. Schmidberger by wholly devoting ourselves to that Heart and by reviving our own hearts in this spirit. Obviously we are not going to tell Providence what it should do, but we have learned from the examples set by the Saints and in Scripture itself that to have great desires can bring forward the designs of the good Lord in a remarkable way. Thus today we make bold to entrust this intention to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, by asking her to take you all under her motherly protection. May God bless you abundantly!

Another "Catholic" University Saddles Up With A Baby Butcher
That's 3 so far

First Notre Dame, then St. Joseph's in Philadelphia, now St. Francis Xavier University in New Orleans.

Here's some of the sad news from The Catholic News Agency; (Emphasis mine)
Archbishop Hughes avoids Xavier commencement over pro-abortion speaker

(CNA).- Archbishop of New Orleans Alfred Hughes, reiterating his “disappointment” with Xavier University of Louisiana, has said that he will not attend the school’s commencement exercises, saying pro-abortion rights strategist Donna Brazile’s appearance as its spring 2009 commencement speaker contradicts support for those “in their mother’s wombs.” Archbishop Hughes expressed his objections in an April 22 letter to Dr. Norman C. Francis, President of Xavier University, writing:

“It is with regret that I make the decision not to participate in the Commencement Exercises this year at Xavier University in light of the university’s decision to invite Ms. Donna Brazile to be the Commencement speaker and receive an honorary degree. Ms. Brazile has a public record in support of keeping abortion legal.”

Acknowledging that Brazile is a Catholic Louisiana native who has “worked effectively in service to the poor and African Americans in particular,” the archbishop said her public statements on abortion “are not in keeping with Catholic moral teaching.”

In particular, Archbishop Hughes cited her support for President Barack Obama’s reversal of the Mexico City Policy. Brazile has said the policy, which allows federal funds for organizations that promote or provide abortions overseas, would “save lives.”

“The University has received an extraordinary legacy from its holy founder, St. Katherine Drexel. I pray that the university will be faithful to that legacy in every way including respect and protection of all human life,” the archbishop’s letter concluded.
I know Xavier is a historically Black college, and obviously, Brazile is Black... so what?

The good folks at Xavier need to make up their mind. Is the salvation of your soul found in Christ's Church or in Black solidarity?

A Definition We Can Live With
Stolen from Phelony Jones, who stole it from Dad29, who stole it from Owen

Gun Control: The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her panty hose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound.
Father Euteneuer Says What Needs To Be Said
Helmet tip to Former Altar Boy

Here's some from the most recent Human Life International e-Newsletter; (No emphasis on my part needed) Shake Down the Thunder on Notre Dame

Let's be honest: all the hand wringing and justification for Fr. Jenkins' decision is just fluff. Despite the unprecedented tour de force of close to fifty US bishops objecting to this travesty, Fr. Jenkins's claim that his decision is "consistent" with the bishops' 2004 directive on speakers at Catholic colleges - simply because Barack Obama is not a Catholic - is, well, absurd on its face. No person in his right mind buys it.

And that's the point - Notre Dame leadership is not "in its right mind" any more. The ones who made or endorsed this decision are not thinking with the mind of the Church let alone the Mind of Christ. This doesn't just apply to Fr. Jenkins either. It also applies to his superior, Fr. Hugh Cleary, who has an obligation to demand Jenkins' immediate resignation from his post to end this scandal but who chose instead to make a sappy, glowing, politically-correct statement which dares call this hurtful fiasco a "teachable moment."

No, Father Cleary - a "teachable moment" would be your removing Fr. Jenkins from office to show the world that the Church really means what she says in calling abortion an "abominable crime." (Vatican II, Gaudium et Spes, 51)

As far as I am concerned, a thunder of judgment has just been shaken down on Notre Dame, its Board of Directors and any faculty, students or alumni who endorse the decision to bring Barack Obama to Notre Dame's campus to sully Our Lady's good name and our deepest loyalties.

Sincerely,

Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer,

The New SSPX Rosary Crusade

In his latest Letter to Friends and Benefactors (in French, dated April 15, 2009), the Superior General of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (SSPX), Bishop Bernard Fellay, after some strong words about those enemies of the Church (inside and outside Church institutions) who have been trying to undermine the Pope's efforts of reconciliation, proposes another Rosary Crusade, much larger than the other two previous Crusades:

"It seems to us that the moment is come to launch a substantial offensive, deeply anchored in the message of Our Lady at Fatima, in which she herself promised the happy ending, for she announces that, in the end, her Immaculate Heart will triumph. It is this triumph that we ask her, by the means that she herself requests, the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart by the Supreme Shepherd and all the bishops of the Catholic world, and the propagation of the devotion to her Dolorous and Immaculate Heart. It is for this that we wish to offer her, with this purpose, from now to March 25, 2010, a bouquet of 12 million Rosaries, as a crown of as many stars around her, accompanied by an equivalent sum of daily sacrifices that we may be able to fulfill most of all in the faithful accomplishment of the duties of our state of life, and with the promise to propagate the devotion to her Immaculate Heart."
The Other Abu Ghraib
Bad Americans... BAD AMERICANS!

There are two wings to Abu Ghraib prison. In one wing, American personnel humiliated Iraqi prisoners by putting them on dog leashes, etc. In another wing, Saddam Hussein's son beheaded women, etc.

Which wing are you more familiar with?

The Defeatocrats and their propaganda machine (aka: MSNBC, CNN, The New York Times, NPR, etc.) are yet again resurrecting Abu Ghraib prison and all the "torture" that took place there. But here's the rub... which wing do you think their hypocritical rage is aimed at? (By the way, should I even bring up Nancy Pelosi knowing/not knowing about waterboarding?)

Here's some of the article from WND.com from back in 2004; (Emphasis mine)
One journalist present was New York Post's Washington bureau chief Deborah Orin, who wrote of "savage scenes of decapitation, fingers chopped off one by one, tongues hacked out with a razor blade – all while victims shriek in pain and the thugs chant Saddam's praises."

Noting that "Saddam's henchmen took the videos as newsreels to document their deeds in honor of their leader," Orin added, "but these awful images didn't show up on American TV news."

The following, according to the State Department report, were routine in Iraq during Saddam Hussein's rule:

    - Medical experimentation

    - Beatings

    - Crucifixion

    - Hammering nails into the fingers and hands

    - Amputating sex organs or breasts with an electric carving knife

    - Spraying insecticides into a victim's eyes

    - Branding with a hot iron

    - Committing rape while the victim's spouse is forced to watch

    - Pouring boiling water into the victim's rectum

    - Nailing the tongue to a wooden board

    - Extracting teeth with pliers

    - Using bees and scorpions to sting naked children in front of their parents

Vatican To Move To America?
It could have happened!

This is just the history nerd in me coming out.
Anyhow, here's some of the article from The Telegraph (London);
Vatican planned to move to Portugal if Nazis captured wartime Pope
Secret plans were drawn up by the Vatican to elect a new Pope and flee to a friendly country should Hitler have carried out his threat to kidnap the wartime Pontiff, it was claimed yesterday.

Pope Pius XII told senior bishops that should he be arrested by the Nazis, his resignation would become effective immediately, paving the way for a successor, according to documents in the Vatican's Secret Archives.

The bishops would then be expected to flee to a safe country – probably neutral Portugal – where they would re-establish the leadership of the Roman Catholic Church and appoint a new Pontiff.

That Hitler considered kidnapping the Pope has been documented before, but this is the first time that details have emerged of the Vatican's strategy should the Nazis carry out the plan.

"Pius said 'if they want to arrest me they will have to drag me from the Vatican'," said Peter Gumpel, the German Jesuit priest who is in charge of researching whether Pius should be made a saint, and therefore has access to secret Vatican archives.

Pius, who was Pope throughout the war, told his advisers "the person who would leave the under these conditions would not be Pius XII but Eugenio Pacelli" – his name before he was elected Pontiff – thus giving permission for a new Pope to be elected.

"It would have been disastrous if the Church had been left without an authoritative leader," said Father Gumpel.

"Pius wouldn't leave voluntarily. He had been invited repeatedly to go to Portugal or Spain or the United States but he felt he could not leave his diocese under these severe and tragic circumstances."
And for those interested, I've posted about the Nazi kidnapping/massacre plot before (Operation Rabat-Fohn).

Forty-two Bishops Protest BHO at ND
Some discover their gonads for the first time in years

So far over 325,000 petitioners and 42 U.S. bishops have publicly condemned the decision of Notre Shame University to host and honor "the most pro-abortion president in history," with some strongly calling for university president Fr. John Jenkins to disinvite the president or to step down from his position. (To sign the petition: http://www.notredamescandal.com). But, noooo, Jenkins remains steadfast in his obstinance.

Jenkins said, "He (Obama) will speak to our graduates in such a powerful way. He's one of our great orators of our time, and we're just so proud to have him." Big deal. Churchill said Adolf Hitler was the greatest orator of their era.

Here’s a list of the American bishops who have actually gone public in defending the Faith. Gee, I don’t see one ordinary from California among them! Shocking.

Wolves, Revisited
Helmet tip to Wildcat Conservative for sending me this

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. "A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.

"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego."

He continued, "The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
Poncho Ladies In The Attack Mode
With the exception of deranged fairies, very few things are as disturbing as a pissed-off poncho lady

It's Dress-Up & Pretend season again. Here's some of the article from The California Catholic Daily; (Emphasis and comments mine) Clandestine ‘ordinations’
Roman Catholic Womenpriests ‘ordain’ four bishops at undisclosed location

In a statement provided to California Catholic Daily, Roman Catholic Womenpriests USA did not even name the city in which the “ordinations” occurred. But a separate news release from CORPUS, which describes itself as “the national association for an inclusive priesthood,” identified the city as Santa Barbara.
(Santa Barbara isn't all that big. Some amateur sleuthing should be able to pinpoint the exact location of The Gang That Couldn't Ovulate Straight. I hope I'm mistaken, but I lay even money it's at a rad Novus Ordo parish. Even if it wasn't, you can bet your ass that "Vatican II" was brought up more than my lunch while reading this article.)

The Santa Barbara “ordinations” represented the latest in a series of acts of defiance against the Vatican on the subject of women priests. On May 29, 2008, the Vatican declared that any women who attempt “ordination” or any bishops who attempt to “ordain” women are automatically excommunicated from the Church by their actions. The decree from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith was absolute, universal and immediately effective. (the days for Judasettes like these broads and the coven popularly known as LCWR are numbered. Thank God.)
Homofascists In The Attack Mode
Very few things as disturbing as a pissed-off fairy

I'm sure many of you are already familiar with what's going on with Miss California, Carrie Prejean, who came in 2d place in the recent Miss USA competition. For those out of the loop, she was asked about "gay marriage" by one of the pageant judges, Perez Hilton, who by the way, is a flamer of three alarm proportions.

Said Prejean;"I believe marriage should be between a man and a woman."Even she admits as soon as that was said, she lost any chance of winning. But here's the interesting point I wanted to raise -- check out the question and response of one certain "gay activist" Wayne Benson; Bill O'Reilly: So you're offended by anyone who disagrees with gay marriage? Anybody who has an opposing point of view offends you?

Wayne Besen: I find that to be bigotry, absolutely.

Simply for disagreeing, that makes her a bigot? In certain European nations, Carrie Prejean would already be in custody for committing a Hate Crime.

Fr. Carl Gismondi, FSSP, Pastor.

And all this was paid for by parishioners from their Renovation Fund (that has been on-going since October when FSSP took over a church the diocese was on the verge of closing) which has also included returning the interior of the church and sanctuary to its former (pre-Vat2) glory: marble floor in sanctuary, altar moved back to its original position against the back wall, new marble altar rail, church tented for termites and then most of the sub-floor torn up and replaced due to 80+ years of termite work, then the floor replaced with new wood floor which meant moving all the pews twice as this was done over a few weeks but Masses continued on schedule.

Chairman of the German Bishops conference : "Christ didn't die for the sins of the people"...

The Chairman of the German Bishops' Conference and archbishop of Freiburg, Robert Zollitsch, believes that
Christ’s crucifixion is just a psychological support for those who suffer.

On Holy Saturday, the archbishop denied the Expiatory Death of Christ in an interview with the German TV station 'Hessischer Rundfunk'. Christ "did not die for the sins of the people as if God had needed a sacrificial offering or something like a scapegoat" - the archbishop said.

According to him the dying Christ simply expressed "solidarity" with the suffering of the people even to death. This way, Christ showed, the archbishop said, that even suffering and pain have been taken up by God.

According to Zollitsch "this is the great perspective, the tremendous solidarity," that Christ went so far that he suffered all "with" me.

The journalist asked Zollitsch: "You would now no longer describe it in such a way that God gave his own son, because we humans were so sinful? You would no longer describe it like this?" To this question Zollitsch replied with a clear "no".

And then there's this from Canada, where a Cardinal compares abortion to killing in self-defense. Montreal Cardinal: "I am against abortion, but I can understand that in certain cases, there is almost no other choice than to practice it."

MONTREAL, April 14, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Over the Easter weekend, Le Devoir newspaper published a story based on an interview with Cardinal Jean-Claude Turcotte of Montreal, during which the Cardinal contradicted the teachings of Catholic Church on abortion and condoms.

In the interview Cardinal Turcotte, as quoted by Le Devoir, compared abortion to killing in self-defense, effectively equating the unborn child with a violent aggressor. "Personally, I am against murder," he said, "but can understand that sometimes, when someone is being attacked, they need to kill someone in self-defense. I am against abortion, but I can understand that in certain cases, there is almost no other choice than to practice it."
Could you imagine a Catholic leader saying something like this before 1962? Well, in all fairness, there were those that did. And they had the good manners to leave the Church. And these guys are in charge. Just more of the fruits of Vatican II.

Yeah... and us Traddies are the dangerous ones.

Liar, Liar...
Stretch-Pants on fire

As we all know, during the upcoming Visitation on America's covens... whoops, I mean convents, there will be focusing on three main areas of concern:

1. Promoting the ordination of women.
2. Advocation of homosexuality.
3. Salvation through Christ alone.

With all that in mind, here's an interesting tid-bit from the Toledo Blade; Sister Christine Schenk, of the Sisters of St. Joseph religious order and executive director of the Catholic reform group FutureChurch, said she is "very puzzled" by reported concerns over adherence to doctrine.Interesting. Especially in light that FutureChurch states on their own website that they are

"... inspired by Vatican II"What, the almost 2 dozen Councils prior to don't count? What makes Vatican II so special? Hmmm... Think about it, gang.

1. And yet again, their own website advocates so-called "women's ordination".
2. And if that wasn't enough, click here for FutureChurch's litany of documentation favoring homosexuality.
3. But wait... there's more! Here we read that the world doesn't embrace Christ to attain salvation, it's Christ's embracing of the world. After all, it's Christ's job to embrace Him, right?

Charlotte over at Cheeky Pink Girl gives witness to a perfect example of runaway Novus Ordo;

The Doofus-In-Chief speaks

Can you believe this knuckle-head? And the Obamaniacs pat themselves on the back for putting this idiot in charge and for what a great job he's doing.

Here's some of the article from ABCnews.com; (Emphasis mine) Obama Asks For $100 Million in Budget Cuts: Is it Just a Drop in the Bucket?

“I emphasized to this Cabinet that we have had to take some extraordinary steps in order to shore up our financial system and to deal with an unprecedented economic crisis. As a consequence, we've had to spend a significant amount of money,” the president admitted, adding that it was “the right” and “necessary” thing to do.

However, the president said, the government has an obligation to run efficiently and spend every taxpayer dollar wisely.

“So one of the things -- messages that I delivered today to all members of the Cabinet was, ‘As well as you've already done, you're going to have to do more.’ I'm asking for all of them to identify at least $100 million in additional cuts to their administrative budgets,” he said.
Oh, and in case you didn't know, get ready for this;
Obama wants his Cabinet agencies to report a collective $100 million in savings in the next 90 days.So to put all this in context... $100 million is 1/320 of 1% of the budget. That's also the same amount spent every 2 hours just on the interest on the debt alone. And it'll take 'em 3 months to figure it out.

But don't forget, America -- The South-Side Stooge is not only on your side, but he also feels your pain.

Sheep, Sheepdogs, Wolves
A few thought about those who circle the flock

I'm sure we've all heard or read the analogy that 98% of the world's population is comprised of sheep, and the remaining 2% is evenly divided between sheepdogs and wolves.

Worldly, scumbags like al-Qaeda, crackheads, and registered Democrats are the wolves. They'd love nothing more than to see us with our proverbial (and sometimes literal) throats ripped out.

Conversely, guys like those in the Armed Forces, Law Enforcement officials, and other assorted gunslingers keep the wolf from the door. They live to fight the wolf. Sometimes they kill the wolf... sometimes the wolf kills them.

I think the 98% and 2% analogy works for the state of our souls as well.

More and more often, it's Wolves In Sheep's Clothing that try to tear our souls to bits and send us to hell. They try to pass themselves off as "good Catholics", all the while feeding us poison that's sweetened with at least a drop of Truth.

And in today's New & Improved Catholic Church, it's the sheepdogs that have the bad manners to tell us what we need to hear instead of what we want to hear. And more often than not, they endure a White Martyrdom at the hands of their own fellow-priests.

Here's the bottom line -- priests whose formation and priesthood is built upon solid, orthodox and time-tested Catholicism sometimes end up standing in front of the firing squad. Those whose formation and priesthood is built upon heresy, disloyalty and the-flavor-of-the-day theology sometimes end up standing in front of the Grand Jury.

Terms Fixed for SSPX & Rome Doctrinal Discussions

This is from Bishop Richard Williamson's blog site, Dinoscopus. My only concern is that these "written" discussions be made public at some time. So much in the sixteen Vatican II documents MUST be reconciled with Tradition. Let's hope and pray for all to go well. However, I do believe that Rome is in for a rude awakening!

From Bishop Tissier de Mallerais speaking in Paris we hear that terms have been fixed for the doctrinal discussions due to take place between the Society of St. Pius X and the Church authorities in Rome. The discussions are to be in writing, which is wise, insofar as there is less room for passion and more time for careful thinking. Also they will not be made public, a provision which at best eliminates "grand-standing" by either party, otherwise known as playing to the gallery, because there will be no gallery present.

From Rome we hear that the impetus towards a Rome-SSPX understanding which was generated by the Pope's January "re-incommunication" of the four SSPX bishops, was seriously slowed down by the distrust generated by the media uproar of January-February, which is what that uproar was designed to achieve. Yet subjectively speaking, there is certainly still good will on the part of the Pope towards the SSPX, and there is no lack of good will on the part of the SSPX towards the person of the Holy Father.

The problem for these discussions is that, objectively speaking, as on either side there may be some reluctance to admit, we are in the presence of an irreconcilable clash between the religion of God and the religion of man. Vatican II mixed the two together, which was too much of the religion of man by half. Let us then say that Benedict XVI wishes to combine Vatican II with Catholic Tradition. That is still too much of the religion of man by a quarter. Let us now suppose that the SSPX and Benedict XVI were to agree to come half-way towards each other. That would still represent one eighth of the religion of man mixed with seven eighths of the religion of God, which for the purposes of Almighty God would still be one eighth too much.

For just as it takes a disproportionately small amount of water mixed with a tank full of gasoline (or petrol) to stop a car engine dead, so it takes only a small admixture of idolatry to stop dead the true religion of God. The Lord God Himself tells us that He is a jealous God (Exod. XX, 5; etc.), and will not endure any false gods beside Him. To anybody in the SSPX who might be tempted to worship with the neo-modernists, as to any neo-modernist who might wish to share worship with the Catholics, the Old Testament prophet Elias would say as he said to the hesitating Israelites, "How long do you halt between the two sides ? If the Lord be God, follow Him: but if Baal, then follow him." Scripture (III Kings, XVIII, 21) then says, "The people did not answer him a word".

Subjectively, the Israelites wanted to have it both ways. Objectively, that was impossible. For ourselves too. Kyrie Eleison. London, England.

Bravo Zulu To The Dutch Marines, To Hell With The Cowardly Politicians
Qua Patet Orbis (As Far As The World Extends)

It's enough to make you weep. But the Dutch are by and large (like the rest of Europe) scared to death to be seen as "insulting islam".

Here's some of the article from Marine Log; (Emphasis mine) Dutch Marines free hostages, release pirates
Somali pirate activity continues at a high level.

NATO forces foiled an attempted attack on the Marshall Islands flag chemical/products tanker Handytankers Magic, which is managed by Roxana Shipping SA of Athens. The British fast fleet tanker RFA Wave Knight responded to a distress call from the tanker and the Dutch frigate De Zeven Provincieën subsequently detained a dhow to which the pirates had fled in their attack skiff.

Two Dutch Marine boarding teams in RHIB's found about 25 people on board the dhow--along with seven AK-47's and a grenade launcher. Nine of those on board were determined to be pirates. The others were Yemeni fishermen whose dhow had been hijacked last Thursday and taken over by the suspected pirates to use as a mother ship.

Dutch forces sent the dhow on its way back to Yemen and destroyed the captured weapons and other materials that could be used for piracy.
The pirate suspects were put in the skiff and released.

The reason given for their release by a NATO spokesman was: "NATO does not have a detain policy, a national policy will apply and under these circumstances, the Dutch law cannot prosecute."
That headline should be corrected to say:Dutch Marines free hostages, Ordered to release pirates

Silly us. And how lucky we are to have the none-too-manly Johann Hari illuminating all us'n redneck inbreds that there really aren't any pirates... just freedom fighting fisherman banding together to repel evil Western poachers and nuclear waste dumpers.

Here's some of the alleged "news" article as reported by The Huffington Post, San Francisco Bay View and The Independent (UK); You Are Being Lied to About Pirates
By Johann Hari

In 1991, the government of Somalia - in the Horn of Africa - collapsed. Its 9 million people have been teetering on starvation ever since - and many of the ugliest forces in the Western world have seen this as a great opportunity to steal the country’s food supply and dump our nuclear waste in their seas.

Yes: nuclear waste. As soon as the government was gone, mysterious European ships started appearing

This is the context in which the men we are calling "pirates" have emerged. Everyone agrees they were ordinary Somalian fishermen who at first took speedboats to try to dissuade the dumpers and trawlers, or at least wage a 'tax' on them. They call themselves the Volunteer Coastguard of Somalia.
Dear Volunteer Coastguard of Somalia,
I hope you found the most recent encounter with the Volunteer Navy of the United States of America educational and beneficial to your future endeavors.
