Will LA Boycott California?
Joyfully stolen from NewsRealBlog.com

Here’s a question for the L.A City Council, California school districts who are canceling trips to Arizona, and those sanctimonious San Franciscans in their Sanctuary City.

What state’s penal code does the following section come from?

(b) With respect to any such person who is arrested, and suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws, every law enforcement agency shall do the following:
(1) Attempt to verify the legal status of such person as a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted as a permanent resident, an alien lawfully admitted for a temporary period of time or as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of immigration laws. The verification process may include, but shall not be limited to, questioning the person regarding his or her date and place of birth, and entry into the United States, and demanding documentation to indicate his or her legal status.
That would be… California!

Oops.

The only real difference between Arizona and California on the “show me your papers” front is that in Arizona they no longer call I.C.E. and get sluffed off, they enforce the law themselves.

Which means none of the reasons given by California liberals for opposing the Arizona law are honest. What they are really mad about is that in Arizona, immigration laws will be enforced, and that in California they are not– and in the rest of the country for that matter.

Here is the complete section of the pertinent California law–wonder if Eric Holder has read this?

(a) Every law enforcement agency in California shall fully
cooperate with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service regarding any person who is arrested if he or she is suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws.
(2) Notify the person of his or her apparent status as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws and inform him or her that, apart from any criminal justice proceedings, he or she must either obtain legal status or leave the United States.
(3) Notify the Attorney General of California and the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service of the apparent illegal status and provide any additional information that may be requested by any other public entity.
(c) Any legislative, administrative, or other action by a city, county, or other legally authorized local governmental entity with jurisdictional boundaries, or by a law enforcement agency, to prevent or limit the cooperation required by subdivision (a) is expressly prohibited.
And, there is even a California Attorney General opinion upholding the penal code:

California AG Opinion 01-213 (11/16/2001): While California’s Penal Code Section 843b’s mandate that local officers inquire into immigration status has been enjoined, officers can still voluntarily make the inquiry. A local law enforcement officer during detention of Spanish speaking person for otherwise valid purposes may question the person as to immigration status, but may not question status solely because the individual speaks a non-English language. Local officers may continue investigation into a person’s immigration status prior to arraignment on state charges. In footnote 4, the Opinion indicates “Civil violations of immigration law are not cognizable” under a formula in Pen. Code s. 836, sub. (a), (a)(1), which allows California peace officers to arrest either in obedience to a warrant or without a warrant where the officer has probable cause to believe that a public offense has been committed in the officer’s presence.” In supporting the Arizona boycott, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa called the Arizona Law “unpatriotic and unconstitutional.”

I guess he won’t be going to Disneyland any time soon.

Note: Hat tip to retired reporter James Smith and his excellent blog, Free From Editors, which mostly covers the downfall of the American newspaper business.

Is Is Illegal Immigration A Bad Thing?
I'm getting mixed signals, here.

First, here's some of an article from the USCCB's version of Pravda; (Emphasis mine) Cardinals say immigration at 'dark moment' in US but call for hope

WASHINGTON (CNS) -- Two Catholic cardinals called the current U.S. immigration situation "a terrible crisis" and "a dark moment in our nation's history" in remarks they made July 28 at the opening Mass and plenary session of the 2008 National Migration Conference.

Both Cardinal Theodore E. McCarrick, retired archbishop of Washington, and Cardinal Roger M. Mahony of Los Angeles urged participants to hold on to hope in their work with immigrants for local and national church agencies.

Much of the agenda, built around the theme "Renewing Hope, Seeking Justice," reflected the struggles faced by those who work with immigrants.

Workshops were scheduled on topics such as "How to respond to federal raids," "Identifying and supporting survivors of traumatic events," (anything like the 'traumatic event' posted below?) "A Catholic response to human trafficking" and "Parenting challenges from an African immigrant perspective."

Another two dozen workshop sessions dealt with legal issues including "Filing waivers of inadmissibility" and "Immigration law and crimes"; strategies for fundraising; and getting out
the church's message on immigration* (here's the REAL Church Teaching).
And then we have this from some of the piece done on Spero News; (Emphasis mine) Protecting illegal aliens at US citizens' expense

Members of the Mara Salvatrucha criminal gang allegedly murdered a San Francisco father and two sons. The perps benefited from San Francisco's liberal attitude towards illegal migrants.

It was a Sunday afternoon last June and Anthony Bologna and his sons Michael and Matthew were almost home from their family picnic. Anthony, driving the family car, briefly blocked another car from completing a left turn down a narrow San Francisco street. Angered by this momentary delay in his trip, according to police reports, Edwin Ramos got out of the car and opened fire on the Bologna’s car with an AK-47, shooting all three men. Tony Bologna, 48, and his son Michael, 20, died at the scene, and Matthew, 16, died a few days later in the hospital.

Police arrested Ramos a short time later, believing he was the gunman, although two other men were seen in the car with him. Ramos is an El Salvador native and a reputed member of the notorious gang known as MS-13, one of hundreds or thousands of illegal aliens in San Francisco who have benefited from the city's long-standing practice of protecting illegal immigrant juveniles who have committed felonies from possible deportation, according to The San Francisco Chronicle.

Now charged with three murders, the 21 year-old Ramos was previously found guilty of two felonies as a juvenile: attempting to rob a pregnant woman, and as part of a gang-related assault on a city bus passenger. By all accounts, Ramos is a vicious animal who has no business being in the United States, and no business being in San Francisco.
Officials with the city's Juvenile Probation Department failed to alert federal immigration authorities following both of the felony convictions because it was the agency's policy not to consider immigration status when deciding how to deal with an offender. Had city officials investigated, they would have found that Ramos lacked legal status to remain in the United States, and should be deported. Three members of the Bologna family would likely be alive today if that had happened.
But why pay attention to the law, either Church or secular? Our own leaders don't.

In the meantime, real American heroes, Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, remain in solitary confinement for protecting our country.

*2241 The more prosperous nations are obliged, to the extent they are able, to welcome the foreigner in search of the security and the means of livelihood which he cannot find in his country of origin. Public authorities should see to it that the natural right is respected that places a guest under the protection of those who receive him.

Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants' duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.

Let's Throw More Laws (AND MONEY!) At The Problem!
I'm really getting sick of this

Oh, am I going to really upset a whole bunch of people with this posting. But you know what? I don't care. I'm fed up.

With that said, there's absolutely no more of a need for "comprehensive immigration reform" then there is for grand pronouncements from the Chanceries concerning "Safe Environments" for children being around our own priests.

At the end of this posting, I have the sure fire, no doubt about it, just can't lose solution for the ills that befall our nation and Church.

In the meantime, here's some of the article in regards to the latest from the Bishop of SLC; (Emphasis mine)

Bishop Wester: Immigration enforcement initiatives have failed
May 07, 2010
The failure of law enforcement efforts to stem the tide of illegal immigration manifests the need for comprehensive immigration reform, according to Bishop John Wester of Salt Lake City, chairman of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Migration.

“The federal government since 2002 has spent over $100 billion on immigration enforcement initiatives,” Bishop Wester writes in a Washington Post column.
OK, fellow bloglodytes... Here's the solution - Just follow the damn rules.

1. If someone (anyone!) illegally enters this nation, prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law to include incarceration.

2. If an employer (any employer!) knowingly hires someone who isn't qualified to work in this nation, prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law to include incarceration and closing of their business.

3. If someone (anyone!) molests a child, prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law to include incarceration.

4. If anyone (and I mean anyone!) rapes a child, prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law to include execution.

Yes, it really is that simple.

Captain Of Titanic To Passengers - "All That Water Is A Good Thing"
Yeah... riiiiiiiight

Here's just a tad of the article from CNSNews.com;
L.A. Mayor: Illegal Immigration Adds to ‘Economic Might’ of Deficit-Ridden California
By Christopher Neefus

Washington (CNSNews.com) – Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa told CNSNews.com Thursday that illegal immigration has not contributed to his city's budget problems, but, on the contrary, that illegal immigration adds to the “economic might” of California.

"In California, I think there’s a real sense that these immigrants provide a great deal to the economic might of the state," said Villaraigosa.

After Villaraigosa testified at a congressional hearing on Thursday, CNSNews.com asked him what impact illegal immigration has had on the fiscal sitution of his city, which is now running a $485 million deficit.

“With the city having passed this boycott of Arizona, do you think illegal immigration is a contributor to the budget problems in L.A.?” CNSNews.com asked.

“No,” Villaraigosa responded

Pope Nancy Wags Finger At American Bishops
Only a handful stand up to her

Here's some of a pathetically sad article from The California Catholic Daily;

Pelosi lectures bishops
House Speaker says Church should preach immigration reform from its pulpits

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the San Francisco Democrat and self-described Catholic who has repeatedly run afoul of American bishops for her pro-abortion, pro-stem cell research voting record, has counseled U.S. prelates they should preach immigration reform from the pulpit.

"The cardinals, the archbishops, the bishops that come to me... say, 'We want you to pass immigration reform,' and I said, 'I want you to speak about it from the pulpit,'" Pelosi told participants at a May 6 conference at the U.S. Capitol sponsored by the National Catholic Reporter and Trinity Washington University, her alma mater. "Some (who) oppose immigration reform are sitting in those pews, and you have to tell them that this is a manifestation of our living the Gospels."

“Within the last 24 hours, the archbishops of Denver, New York, Philadelphia and Washington D.C., along with Bishop William Lori have all publicly upbraided the Speaker of the House for her erroneous comments on the Church’s abortion teaching,” reported Catholic News Agency at the time.

Five.

A whopping five of our alleged 'leaders' have had the backbone to stand up to Pope Nancy. Keep in mind, there are over 300 members of the USCCB.

Could we be seeing the real 3d Message of Fatima being played out? Just a thought.

The Constitutional Rights they don't want to showcase
I dare you

What does abortion and illegal immigration have in common? Supporters... and vocal ones at that. Very vocal.

On a daily basis we are subjected to phonies that jump all over the politically correct, safe and oh, so stylish bandwagons that are illegal immigration and the hacking to death of unborn children.

And what a curious grab bag these phonies are. Ranging from octogenarian WASP hippies, to punk Vatos, to every conceivable, imaginable, bleating, screeching, nightmarish, boorish ObaManiac in between.

But I digress... I won't get into the ins-and-out of the abortion and/or illegal immigration debates.

Let me just say this: we Americans love to show-off our Constitutional Rights. You name it -- awards for writing; trophies for firearms marksmanship; sporting "I Voted" stickers on our shirts on election day, etc, etc, ad nauseum.

Almost a national mania to tell Urkel, "Yes, I did that."

Wellll.... lemme take that back. We American love to show-off the end results of our Constitutional Rights.

With that said, I have two challenges;

1. At the next pro-illegal alien rally, I challenge the organizers to trot out an unemployed American construction worker. Allow him to explain in detail how illegal immigration has cost him his livelihood, his home and his ability to feed his family.

2. At the next pro-abortion rally, perform an abortion. When finished, display the slashed and bloody corpse by the ankles Aztec/Celtic/Mesopotamian-style before the adoring crowd.
If you good people are so proud of what you so loudly advocate, then you should unashamedly show to the world the end result of what you are so steadfastly devoted to.

Go ahead, I dare you.

Leave It To The USCCB To Have Their Priorities Screwed Up...
Again

This comes from the same bunch who won't do a damn thing of substance against alleged "Catholics" who support unborn babies being slaughtered. I guess excommunication is out of the question.

But actually arresting those who've broken the law is now "inhumane". What's really inhumane is the wink and a nod the USCCB has given to the likes of Pelosi, Biden, Giuliani, Kerry and Schwarzenegger.

Here's some of the article from the Catholic News Agency; (Emphasis mine) Catholic bishops call for end to ‘inhumane’ worksite ICE raids

Speaking at a press conference in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, several Catholic bishops questioned the effectiveness and humaneness of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids and called for them to be abandoned.

John Wester, Bishop of Salt Lake City, said the present is “a dark period in our country on the issue of immigration.” After the failure of the immigration reform bill in Congress last year, he argued, there has been an “unprecedented emphasis on enforcement-only initiatives.” The bishop charged that these initiatives are “designed to create an atmosphere of fear in immigrant communities,” and constitute a policy of “deportation by attrition.”

He emphasized that the bishops did not question the right of the government to enforce immigration laws, but questioned whether worksite raids are effective and “most importantly, humane.”

Bishop Wester explained that he had witnessed the consequences of such raids first-hand, which he said include the disruption of communities, the separation children who are U.S. citizens from their parents, and the removal of minor children’s primary caregivers.

“We call upon President Bush and the Department of Homeland Security to reconsider the use of worksite enforcement raids,” he said, asking the government to “please abandon them” if human rights protections can’t be implemented.
Such bullshit. Someone remind our valiant bishops that the ICE agents wouldn't have to resort to worksite raids if they very same people arrested hadn't broken the law to begin with.

Their pew-based pandering is disgusting.

The Archdiocese Of Sham Francisco Is At It Yet Again
*sigh*

From the mouth piece of the USCCB, the Catholic News Service, we have this interesting tid-bit of hypocracy. Here's a wee bit;

California interfaith leaders urge suspension of immigration raids

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (CNS) -- From the steps of one of California's first missions, northern California faith leaders called for the suspension of sweeps for undocumented immigrants by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency pending comprehensive reform of immigration laws.

"I don't think the way they enforced the law is right, or just, or moral, or tolerable, especially for children," said San Francisco Auxiliary Bishop Ignatius Wang, who was born in Beijing.

Awwww.... id'nt dat heartwarming? Those mean ol' government agents having the audacity to enforce this nations immigration laws.

Of all the unmitigated gall!!

Yet alas, I come across an interesting little story illustrating how the Archdiocese of San Francisco has a history of not really paying attention to the law.

Abuse survivor furious at San Francisco archdiocese

In July 2006, a jury "
found in favor of Joey Piscitelli, a former altar boy who was abused by the Rev. Stephen Whelan, a vice principal, when he was a freshman and sophomore at the high school from 1969 to 1971," according to a story in the Contra Costa Times. Piscitelli was awarded $600,000.

Piscitelli is furious at the San Francisco archdiocese and the Salesian order, to which Whelan belongs, for defending Whelan. Piscitelli recently sent the following letter to Bishop George Niederauer:

Dear Bishop Niederauer,
I have a letter from your office, written by Bishop John Wester, asking me to participate in letting your 'Investigative Review Board' reinvestigate my claim against your associate pastor at Sts. Peter and Paul, Father Stephen Whelan. Your review board found Whelan credible, and said that I was not. The letter was written before my court trial. This is the same review board that finds all of your priests credible, and the victims not.

As you know, I won the court case against Whelan and the Salesian order of San Francisco in July of this year. A civil court Jury found Whelan and the Salesians responsible for molesting me as a child. That was an unbiased jury. Not a board handpicked by Bishop Levada.

Since the court case in July, your pastor at Sts. Peter and Paul, Father Malloy, continues to bad mouth me publicly. The Salesians do also. The Salesians of San Francisco have not apologized and have not done anything remotely close to the 'Charter' concerning treatment of victims and their families after abuse has occurred.

You have refused to pay for therapy for me or my family, which you have done for other victims of abuse in your archdiocese. It is obvious to all that you and the Salesians have treated me and my family as though we are not even human beings, and your priests have behaved not as men of God, but rather as vindictive, spiteful, angry and unremorseful cynics.

Since your priests continue to call me a liar, and your staff continues to represent Whelan as some sort of martyr, and you do not acknowledge me as a victim of sexual abuse by one of your priests, I am accepting your offer to have your so called 'review board' interview me for your investigation. Although I already know the review board will find Whelan credible again, and myself not credible, perhaps we can go through the motions so that your staff can hear the sick, disturbing, un-Godly acts of perversion, sexual deviancy, and abuse your priest has brought upon me as a child.

Perhaps this will end the war the archdiocese has declared on me and my innocent family, and you will finally acknowledge that me and my wife and children are at least people, and you may even treat us as people.

Sorry if I find the good folks at the Archdiocese of San Francisco less than reputable when it comes to them telling any of us about obeying the law.

American Bishops -

It is becoming more and more apparent that the American Bishops, as a group, constitute a major constituency of the Godless Democrat Party. Other than feigning limited vocal outrage about certain life issues all the while never taking any action whatsoever to go on the offensive regarding those life issues, is there any issue with which the American Bishops are not lock step with the American Communist Party (formerly known as the American Democrat Party)?

We all know that the bishops for the most part supported the communist takeover of American medicine. We all know that the bishops as a group haven't got a clue about micro or macro economics and are easily influenced by the sophistry of populist politicians. We all know that the bishops are for the most part silent about what is the most corrupt presidency in American history and I for one view this silence as tacit approval. I would not be surprised at all to learn that the vast majority of American bishops actually voted for "Obama The Terrible." But even if we were to assume that the bishops were not giving their tacit approval through their silence and that they were just respectfully declining to comment on national political matters, how does one explain the support for something like ObamaCare (remember, the bishops as a group said the bill was just fine as long as the Dems banned federally funded abortion) and now the vocal condemnation of Arizona's rightful attempt to defend it's state border?

What amazes me is that if anyone of these bishop's jurisdictions were violated by the SSPX or some other traditional group they would have an aneurism. We know this because we have witnessed many examples of this over the years. For instance, can you imagine the reaction of a bishop if a group of lay persons decided that their spiritual needs were suffering and that in order to provide the best chance for their families to receive the graces necessary to persevere with God unto death they formed an independent chapel, or better yet took over one of the diocesan churches, and invited an independent priest to serve as pastor? Can you imagine the reaction from the bishop?! Oh wait a minute, we could imagine the reaction. We have seen the reaction. In some instances, immediate excommunication for all involved. Which by the way means you go to Hell. The bishop would go out of his way to suppress (or repress) the disobedience all the while screaming about canon law!

And yet, Arizona is not allowed to protect its geographic area and Arizona is not allowed to protect its citizens from the ill effects of what is no less than a hostile invasion of people. Now my understanding of the Catholic faith is that we as Catholics view the spiritual realm as much more important in the long run to every individual than the temporal realm. Hence, salvation is more important than being able to freely migrate to another country at a whim to find a job without first following the target country's laws of entry. That being the case, and using the bishop's own logic, how in the world is it "just" for a bishop to suppress a rebel traditionalist priest and excommunicate all involved for their involement in violating that bishop's jurisdiciton but at the same time unjust for Arizona to have its police officers ask for proof of legal residency when conducting an interview of a person who is ALEADY stopped or ALREADY in custody for violating some other law?

Its just a question I have. Why is the bishop's jurisdiction sacrosanct and Arizona's so easily dismissed as irrelevant. Is the USCCB going to empty out all of the diocesan coffers to help Arizonans pay for the social services that are bankrupting that state as a result of the illegal immigration problem? Is the USCCB going to start selling off all the church property in the country in order to provide unemployment benefits to the Americans who lose their jobs as a result of illegal immigration and/or is the USCCB going to start supplementing American's wages as they become more and more depressed as a result of illegal immigration?

I am just asking. If the bishops feel it is within their competency to chastize Arizona over this issue, will the Bishops step up and help Arizona pay for all of the people the bishos apparently think the Arizona welfare state should pick up?

I am going to answer my own question. Of course the bishops are not going to do this. And for good reason! Church property does not belong to the bishop it belongs to Church and it is to be used for the salvation of souls. If the bishops squander all of the Church's property for a single generation then how will the Church serve future generations? After all, this is why Christ gave us successors to the apostles. Christ did not just come for that first generation of Christians, he came for every generation. No bishop has the right to squander the properties acquired by the Church over hundreds of years. And it is this fact that has all of us so darn angry at bishops like Mahoney who so freely waste 600 million dollars in diocesan funds on hush money. It is this fact that has us so angry when we see wreckovations! Bishops have no right to destroy a beautiful church built on the backs, sweat and tears of our peasant ancesters. But I digress . . .

In the same token, the politicians of today have absolutely no moral right to squander the wealth of this nation on the current generation of citizens or the current generation of illegal residents. They have no right to impoverish future generations of Americans. In fact, quite the opposite, they have an obligation to preserve it. The wealth of this nation does not belong to any president or bishop or individual. The wealth of this nation belongs to America and is to be preserved for future generations of Americans as well as future generations of immigrants coming to America to seek a better life. It is also to be preserved for future generations around the world so that America may continue to be the "bread basket of the world."

Comrade Mahony's At It Again
Mahony's theology is as flawed as his history

Helmet Tip to both Jeff Miller over at The Curt Jester, and Quintero over at LA Catholic

I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.... Mahony's latest dive into the pool of Marxism is something called the "Cesar Chavez Mass". What the hell is that? I guess you're suppose to pick lettuce on your way up to hearty Communion meal of tortillas and tequila. And of course that begs the question, do I take Communion with salt and lemon? Hmmm... I wonder if Mahony is commissioning a committee to formulate a hymn that incorporated the lyrics "lick it, slam it, suck it"?

But I digress, when I start reading the drivel put forth to advertise this little fiesta, I'm just further convinced that Mahony could give a tinkers damn less about the salvation of anyone's soul. He just wants to save society. Example (from the Archdiocese of LA website);

• Recognition of the important contributions of immigrants in our society and their rights as human beings, and for comprehensive immigration reform
• Civic action for real political and social change.
• The plight of all farm workers, especially those affected by the recent citrus freeze.
• The continuous struggle for low-wage workers’ right to organize and healthcare for all.

Face it, this fandango is specifically for the illegal aliens.

But Comrade Mahony, as usual, screwed up. Turns out that César Chávez isn't exactly the Patron Saint of illegals that Cardinal Majoto envisioned.

Take a gander at a bit of an article from reporter Ruben Navarrette Jr. of the San Diego Union, March 30, 2005;

Despite the fact that Chávez is these days revered among Mexican-American activists, the labor leader in his day was no more tolerant of illegal immigration than the Arizona Minutemen are now. Worried that the hiring of illegal immigrants drove down wages, Chávez – according to numerous historical accounts – instructed union members to call the Immigration and Naturalization Service to report the presence of illegal immigrants in the fields and demand that the agency deport them. UFW officials were even known to picket INS offices to demand a crackdown on illegal immigrants.

And in 1973, in one of the most disgraceful chapters in UFW history, the union set up a "wet line" to prevent Mexican immigrants from entering the United States. Under the guidance of Chávez 's cousin, Manuel, UFW members tried at first to convince the immigrants not to cross. When that didn't work, they physically attacked the immigrants and left some bloody in the process. It happened in the same place that the Minutemen are now planning to gather: the Arizona-Mexico border.

At the time, The Village Voice said that the UFW conducted a "campaign of random terror against anyone hapless enough to fall into its net."

And by the way, before anyone starts screaming what a racist I am, please know that my late grandfather was Antonio Diaz Perez (+), and my late grandmother was Estella Pangalinan Perez (+).

So there.

Is It REALLY Asking Too Much For An Earthquake To Flush San Francisco Into The Pacific Ocean?
And take Barry Bonds with you

Castrati to the left of me. Castrati to the right of me. Castrati all around me. Between the psychologically neutered in San Francisco, and the morally gutless in Washington, DC, I can feel my own sperm count dropping.

Anyhow, here's the latest... the poster boy for the new and improved free-thinking Vatican II Catholic Church, that nationally renown moral relativist and still yet to be excommunicated San Francisco pro-abortion and pro-queer mayor Gavin Newsom vowed Sunday to maintain San Francisco as a sanctuary for immigrants and do everything he can to discourage federal authorities from conducting immigration raids.

The mayor cannot stop federal authorities from making arrests, Newsom told about 300 mostly Latino members of St. Peter's Church and other religious groups supporting immigrants. But no San Francisco employee will help with immigration enforcement.

"I will not allow any of my department heads or anyone associated with this city to cooperate in any way shape or form with these raids," Newsom declared. "We are a sanctuary city, make no mistake about it."

Now I'm smart enough to admit that absolutely no one in the Bush Administration will do anything of substance to the mayor of San Francisco... like possibly cutting off every single penny that goes either directly or indirectly into the city coffers. No, that would make too much freakin' sense. I guess arresting his ass is out of the question.

After all, no one in the Bush Administration will do anything to secure our borders. So why in the world should I think they'll do anything of solid consequence to those who commit conspiracy to violate federal immigration laws?

In the Marine Corps, we call that "lack of moral courage".

Utah Bishop Clueless
But just keep banging the drum of the 'Big Lie', You Excellency

Interesting headline I just read, and here's some of the article;
Solving illegal immigration requires fixing economic causes, stresses Bishop Wester

Washington D.C., Jun 4, 2010 / 01:29 am (CNA).- Meeting with other bishops in a conference on immigration reform on Thursday, Bishop John C. Wester underlined the need “to address the economic root causes of migration and seek economic policies which would help create jobs” in other countries. This, he stressed, “is the lasting and humane solution to the challenge of illegal immigration.”
Mexico's unemployment half that of America's

Are Mexicans flooding into the United States by the millions due to poverty in their own nation, or is this part of the long dreamt of Mexican Reconquista of the American Southwest? Or is it simply part of a plan by Mexico's ruling elite to dump their poor on the United States of America?

Or all of the above?

According to TradingEconomics.com, the most recent Mexican unemployment numbers are roughly half that of The United States.

~Mexico's unemployment rate at the end of April, 2010 stood at 5.53%.
~America's unemployment rate for the same date was 9.9%.
~Rampant "Crushing Poverty" In Mexico?
British-based ExpatForum.com states that Mexico remains to be the 12th biggest economy in the world. It has a total GDP of over 1 trillion euros and has a per capita GDP of 11,250 euros which ranks 63rd globally.

ExpatForum.com further wrote that Mexico has been determined as a newly industrialized country with an upper middle income country. Poverty rates have significantly decreased by over 10%.

According to Destino magazine,
~Mexico is #1 in all Latin America for foreign investment, #4 in the world.
~Mexico is #5 in the world for oil production.
~Mexico is #7 in the world for exportation.
~Mexico is 2nd largest population in all of Latin America, 11th in the world.
~Mexico is a country which internal reserve actually exceeds its external debt. Currently ~Mexico's debt is 34 billion dollars with reserves topping 80 billion.
~Mexico pays great returns on investments, currently interest rates on Mexican government treasuries are 8.25%.
~Within the next 10 years, 70 million people will retire. 25-30% of them will make some type of investment in Mexico.
~Further, almost one-third (11 out of 35) of Latin American billionaires are Mexican.

Former Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo at the National Council of La Raza (The Race) meeting in Chicago, July 23, 1997: "I have proudly affirmed that the Mexican nation extends beyond the territory enclosed by its borders and that Mexican migrants are an important - a very important - part of it."

Juan Hernandez, while serving on Mexican President Vicente Fox's cabinet, told ABC's "Nightline": "We are betting that the Mexican-American population in the United States . . . will think Mexico first."

Mexican President Vicente Fox, May, 2005: "There is no doubt that Mexican men and women, full of dignity, drive and a capacity for work, are doing the jobs that not even blacks want to do there, in the United States."

Remember, It Was Catholic Bishops Who Tried, Condemned, And Ensured The Execution Of Saint Joan Of Arc
The Hierarchy continues to kowtow to lawbreakers

Here's some of the article from the Houston Chronicle; (Emphasis mine) "There are 200 million migrants," Cardinal Daniel DiNardo of the Catholic Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston told those gathered for The Metropolitan Organization's Clergy Summit: Welcoming the Stranger and Immigration Reform. "War, famine, economic collapse drive them, and it's unstoppable. In our own country, 12 million undocumented people work and live in the shadows."

Borrowing language from a 2002 Catholic Conference of Bishops policy statement, DiNardo called for legalization of undocumented workers already in the country.

"Without some form of broad-based legalization," DiNardo said, "the problems will just fester and fester."
Then we have some of this article from the AP: (Emphasis mine) Report: Illegal immigrants freed from Texas jail

HOUSTON (AP) — Federal immigration officials let thousands of inmates in the nation's third-most populous county walk out of jail despite the suspects admitting they were in the U.S. illegally, a newspaper investigation found.

More than 3,500 inmates told Harris County jailers they were in the country illegally over an eight-month period starting in June 2007, but records show Immigration and Customs Enforcement filed paperwork to detain only about a quarter of them.

In a story published Sunday, The Houston Chronicle found that most illegal immigrants released from jail were accused of minor crimes. But others included convicted child molesters, rapists and those ordered to be deported decades ago.
Pew based pandering at it's best. I guess cutting a few thousand jail birds loose on society doesn't qualify as festering.

Another "Catholic" College Has Trouble Understanding Catholic Teaching
And so does their local bishop

It's the Dominicans turn. Interesting happenings at their Providence College in Rhode Island. Here's the article from The Cardinal Newman Society;
Tancredo's talk was being organized by Youth for Western Civilization.

Providence College in Rhode Island has rejected the request from student group Youth for Western Civilization to bring former congressman Tom Tancredo to campus for a talk. Providence spokesman Pat Vieira said that Bishop Thomas J. Tobin’s views on immigration contrasted sharply with those of Tancredo.

“The Bishop of Providence… is a member of the college’s Board of Trustees. If a similar request to host a speaker on this topic is made in a future semester, the college will encourage and facilitate a format that allows for multiple points of view to be expressed,” said Vieira.

Terry Gorman, executive director of Rhode Islanders for Immigration Law Enforcement stated in response, “This college allowed Senators [Ted] Kennedy and [Sheldon] Whitehouse to speak, and they are virulently pro-abortion. That goes against Church teaching, but they were invited to campus.”
As I've pointed out in the past, the official teaching of the Catholic Church is quite different from that of Bishop Tobin's. He calls for a "moratorium" against on immigration raids in Rhode Island. But as I've pointed out in the past, #2241 of the Catechism states;
Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants' duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.Hold on... Tancredo actually advocates exactly what the official teaching of The Church is, but both this Dominican college and the Bishop of Providence advocate that legitimate government not only ignore the legitimate 'juridical conditions', but they also expect the immigrants to disregard obeying the laws of the nation they are now live in?

Some one's way out of step... and it sure as hell ain't Tom Tancredo.

Doesn't Anyone At The USCCB Ever Read The CCC?
And the answer seems to be 'NO'

I just read that "US bishops oppose 'draconian' Arizona immigration law". Interesting. Here's a blast from the past.

Why Being An Illegal Alien Is A Mortal Sin
This isn't exactly deep theological stuff here

Anyone remember the 10 Commandments? OK, I see a buncha hands being raised... good. Now, how many of you remember what constitutes mortal sin? Ohhhh, even more hands up, great! For those who forget, the conditions are as follows;

1- the matter itself is serious or grave
2- sufficient reflection
3- full consent of the will

Alrighty then... now I'm gonna focus on the 7th and 8th Commandment.

7. Thou shalt not steal. Few will doubt that at least a slim majority of illegals are paid under the table. Hence, no federal tax, no state tax, no FICA... nuttin'. Isn't purposeful tax evasion considered stealing? Sure is.

Should I even bring up job stealing? And don't give me that garbage that 'the illegals are doing the jobs that Americans won't do'. Someone did those jobs before the 12 million strong silent invasion took place, right? And there are plenty of high paying jobs that are being stolen by illegals; plumbers, electricians, framers, etc. And yes, those that knowingly hired illegals and subsequently fired hardworking American citizens are just as wrong.

8. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. The Church has always taught that lying falls under the 8th Commandment. Ummm, being in this county, any country, illegally is lying, right? No amount of liberal verbal gymnastics can get around this simple, irrefutable fact.

Now with all that said, let's look again at the conditions that constitute mortal sin.

1. Breaking the immigration and taxation laws of this country pretty much constitute grave, wouldn't you say?

2. I doubt if many of the illegals were just taking a lovely stroll along the border one day and on a lark, decided to jump the fence. I also doubt that many of the illegals jumped the fence on a dare after a rough night of drinking at the Frat House.

3. I also seriously doubt if even a large minority of the illegals were forced to come here. It's a pretty safe bet that the overwhelming majority gave their full consent to illegally enter this nation.

OK, I'm ready for all the comments telling me what a racist I am. BRING IT ON, BABY!

And then here's something else I posted long ago and far away;
According the the USCCB website, the accolades for this gal include the following;

Her understanding of Catholic social teaching has informed her position on immigration reform. “I am passionate about insuring that there is a way for undocumented people to become lawful residents and citizens,” she says. “There are 12 million-plus people living in the shadows. As Catholics, we have a responsibility to help them feel welcome and find their place.”
Anyone mind if I inject the official teaching of The Catholic Church?

#2241 - Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants' duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.
Gee... in other words, the official teaching of The Church is that a sovereign nation actually CAN control their own borders?? And that the same sovereign nation actually CAN expect those who came to that nation legally to actually expected to obey the law??!! What a concept!

Roger Mahony -
Drama queen

Give me a break already. Looks as if the Thanks-Be-To-God soon to be EX-Archbishop of La-La-Land will be going out with more than a touch of crazy.

Case in point. Here's some of the article from The California Catholic Daily; (Emphasis and comments mine) “German Nazi and Russian Communist techniques”
Cardinal Roger Mahony blasts recently adopted Arizona immigration law

Los Angeles Cardinal Roger Mahony has come down hard a law passed by the Arizona legislature that has been described in the press as “one of the toughest illegal immigration laws in the United States.” The bill would make it a crime in Arizona to be in the state illegally and give local police the power to enforce federal immigration laws. (And this is a bad thing?)

Writing on Sunday, April 18, on “Cardinal Roger Mahony Blogs L.A.,” the Archbishop of Los Angeles called the Arizona law “the country's most retrogressive, mean-spirited, and useless anti-immigrant law… The tragedy of the law is its totally flawed reasoning: that immigrants come to our country to rob, plunder, and consume public resources. That is not only false, the premise is nonsense.” (The good Cardinal is lying, and he knows it. Illegal aliens cost the taxpayers of this nations billions and billions of taxdolllars every year. And Mahony knows it.)

Cardinal Mahony raised an alarming scenario in his commentary on the new Arizona law: “I can't imagine Arizonans now reverting to German Nazi and Russian Communist techniques whereby people are required to turn one another in to the authorities on any suspicion of documentation,” he wrote.
(This is patently pathetic. The law enforcement officials of this nation have just been compared to Nazis and Communist thugs. Shame on Roger Mahony.... SHAME!)

It's About Damn Time
But they have to wait another TWO MONTHS!?
Just enought time to get another beating by imprisoned drug dealers

The sacrificial lambs finally get true justice. From the (Colorado Springs) Gazette;

OPINION: Border guards to go free

President George W. Bush leaves office with the country in economic shambles, proving that a two-party system doesn't work if both parties advocate big government solutions and unbridled spending.

On his way out the door, however, Bush did the right thing Monday. He commuted the prison sentences of former United States Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean. The two men are two years into 10-plus-year sentences for shooting confessed drug smuggler Osvaldo Aldrete Davila in the butt as he tried to cross the Rio Grande.

Ramos and Compean believed Davila was fleeing an abandoned van full of marijuana on the American side of the border.

A prosecutor convinced the court that no evidence connected Davila to the van, and that Ramos and Compean tried to cover up the shooting and tampered with evidence by picking up several of their spent shell casings.

One aspect of the Bush presidency that made sense was his refusal to get worked into a frenzy about illegal immigration, even though some conservatives tried to make it a central cause for a movement gone awry.

Those who thought illegal immigrants should be the centerpiece of a new conservative movement understandably used Ramos and Compean as symbols of the country's immigration insanity.

And they had a point: 10 years was an outrageous sentence for two American border guards who screwed up in the heat of a moment. They're not a danger to society; they're two men who made a serious mistake in the line of duty.

Ramos and Compean are expected to go free within two months. That's unfortunate. They should be freed right away.

Bush should be commended for never, in eight years, allowing anti-immigration zealots to pull him around by his nose. Even more so, he should be commended for listening to them when they were right.

Regarding the unjust sentences of Ramos and Compean, they were absolutely right.

They Stood Up To Them Once
They'll stand up to them again

145 years ago, the state of South Carolina stood up to a repressive Federal Government. Today, SC stands up to an ineffective Federal Government.

State lawmakers began meeting last week to discuss proposals they hope will give South Carolina some of the toughest laws against illegal immigration in the country.

According to Sen. Jim Ritchie, R-Spartanburg, “we are increasingly frustrated by the inability of the federal government to enforce its laws”

Here're the specifics --

• Require people to show proof of legal residence before receiving local, state or federal benefits administered by the state

• Require contractors working for the state to verify their employees’ legal status through a federal verification program

• Authorize local law enforcement to enforce federal immigration laws

• Call for jail personnel to check the legal status of anyone charged with a felony or DUI and notify federal immigration officials if the person is not a citizen.

It's about damn time... and another reason as to why States Rights aren't just a couple of dirty words.

The Prophetic Pat
Golly, he really was right!

Love, hate, or indifferent towards him... history has proven Pat Buchanan right.

On Illegal Immigration ~ We cannot continue to allow illegal immigration. A country that loses control of its borders is not a country. The Constitution of the United States obligates the government to protect the states from foreign invasion. If we can send an army halfway around the world to defend the borders of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, why can't we defend the borders of the United States? I will build a security fence. We will seal the borders of this country cold. We will stop the illegal immigration in its tracks. (Source: United We Stand America Conference, p.321 Aug 12, 1995) NOTE FROM THE CAVEMAN- Isn't a fence already being built in certain areas?

On The Deployment of Troops to the US-Mexican border ~ I will defend America's border, if necessary with American troops. (Source: Zachary Coile, San Francisco Examiner Oct 27, 2000) NOTE FROM THE CAVEMAN - Gee, troops on the border... what a novel idea.

On Abortion ~ We must reverse Roe vs. Wade, persevere in the fight for life, and restore to citizens the freedom to clean up the cultural pollution poisoning the hearts and minds of our children. The presidency must become a bully pulpit for traditional values, not gays in the military. We will get the US government completely out of the abortion racket. (Source: www.iac.net/~davcam/pat_issu.html) NOTE FROM THE CAVEMAN - States such as South Dakota and Mississippi are already outlawing abortion.

On the 2d Amendment ~ The urban barbarism that has turned our streets into battlegrounds and our classrooms into killing fields will not be stopped by an assault on the Second Amendment right of American gunowners to keep and bear arms. (Source: "Issues: Right to Keep & Bear Arms", Jun. 5, 1999)

On Homosexuality ~ "Homosexuality involves sexual acts most men consider not only immoral, but filthy. The reason public men rarely say aloud what most say privately is they are fearful of being branded 'bigots' by an intolerant liberal orthodoxy that holds, against all evidence and experience, that homosexuality is a normal, healthy lifestyle." (syndicated column, 9/3/89)

On Carol Moseley Braun ~ "How long is this endless groveling before every cry of 'racism' going to continue before the whole country collectively throws up?" (syndicated column, 7/28/93) NOTE FROM THE CAVEMAN - Moseley Braun lost her re-election bid for the US Senate in 1998. Her kindred spirit, Cynthia McKinney recently lost her primary run for re-election to the US House.

On the Department of Education ~ 'a bunch of secular humanists in sandals and beads'. (Source: http://www.iheu.org/node/524)

On NAFTA-GATT ~ The trade deals sold out America's workers, ravaged our manufacturing base & caused disruption in our small towns & farming communities. Our "trading partners" still impose 40% tariffs on US agricultural goods. Our once mighty steel industry now begs relief from the World Trade Organization for problems that were caused by the Clinton-Gore headlong march into the New World Order. The Clinton-Gore trade policy is a betrayal of America's workers, and virtual economic treason against the US. (Source: www.gopatgo2000.com/000-c-tradepolicy.html 5/28/99) NOTE FROM THE CAVEMAN - One word... "outsourcing".

And my personal fav ---

On Bill Clinton ~ “Bill Clinton's foreign policy experience stems mainly from having breakfast at the International House of Pancakes.”

What Do We Do With The Next 12 Million?
Wonderful example of gratitude towards America... ya think?

OK, President Vicente Fox of Mexico has snapped his fingers, and quicker than you could say "Yo Quero Taco Bell", Georgie-Porgie came a runnin'. I wonder how high Vicente wants him to jump this time?

And no matter how you slice it, any "deal" struck concerning the millions and millions of illegals already here will do nothing more than embolden millions and millions more to come here... illegally. Sheesh, doesn't anyone around here follow what's happened to Europe?

And I don't want anyone to give me any of that drivel about "they're doing the jobs that Americans won't do". Georgie-Porgie, I'm talkin' to YOU! I personally know many a hard working, tax paying, loyal, patriotic Americans who have lost bid after bid... contract after contract to those who would knowingly hire illegals. Anyhow, when it comes to immigration (both legal and illegal), I'm in the Extreme Center. I have a painfully simple and fair 4 point plan to end this nightmare once and for all.

1. Streamline the process for citizenship for those who came here legally. Send the message, damn it! If you follow the rules, you will be rewarded. How damn hard is that? I personally know many legal immigrants here in NC. I tell ya what... this generation may live in the Trailer Park, but the next generation won't. Gee, that sounds an awful lot like the first generation Irish, Italians, Poles, etc, etc, who lived in the slums not than many generations ago, huh?

2. Immediately cease going after the illegals themselves. Transfer at least 50% of the Immigration/Customs and Border Patrol agents to the Treasury Department. Here's why; a few months ago I called into a local talk radio show and asked local DA if he was doing anything about the flood of illegals (NC has approx. half a million). He said he couldn't do anything because it's a "problem for the federal government". Okay... so I asked if a local employer knowingly and willing hires illegals, does that entail that state taxes are not being paid? He said yes. I asked if he had authority to do something about said tax evasion... he said yes. I then asked if he was actually doing something about it. His tap dancing answer? Well... let's just say that I called him a moral coward. We need to pull an Al Capone on these economic Benedict Arnolds in this country. What say 1 year in prison and a $10,000 fine per illegal alien hired? Oh, and let's not elect anymore gutlees DA's.

3. Who will do all the menial labor that soooooo many illegals are now doing? This is a real easy one. Make Welfare and Food Stamps as difficult to get as a gun permit. Also, I have two words for you; "inmate labor". Instead of them lifting weights, fine tuning their Cryps and/or Bloods resume, or engaging in recreational proctology with the new guy... how about we have 'em actually do something productive and beneficial for society? If said inmates find menial labor demeaning, real simple; don't commit crime. Capice?

4. Lastly, don't vote for anyone, and I mean ANYONE, Republican or Democrat, who supports President Bush's cowardly policies towards illegal immigration.

'Nuff said
