Give Credit Where Credit Is Due
From the "Give Credit Where Credit Is Due" file
Today, The Prez threw out the First Pitch at the Reds - Cubs game. Granted, it his high and off the plate, but it was a good, strong pitch... and from the top of the mound.
That got me reminiscing about John Kerry's foray into the wonderful world of Major League Baseball during the last election. Remember when he showed up at a BoSox game and shot putted out the First Pitch?
From what I recall, it went a lil something like this........
In what was described as the "lingering effects to thrice awarded Purple Hearts... did I mention that I was thrice awarded the Purple Heart?" Presidential hopeful John "Wild Thing" Kerry embarrassed himself on national television.
ESPN commentator John Kruk noted on the throwing styles of the two presidential contenders; "Bush, in a Home Opener for the Cardinals not long ago, threw a solid fastball strike from the top of the mound. Kerry stood a good ten feet in front of the mound... and even then, his pitch was a good fifteen feet short of home plate! Oh well, I guess they didn't teach how to throw a damn baseball at those fancy-assed European boarding schools, huh? By the way... did you hear the sound he made when he threw the ball? It was a high pitched 'Ughhhh'. Kinda like a sound my 9 year old daughter would make."
In an effort to portray himself as a regular guy, Kerry described himself as an 'baseball aficionado'. In the words of Kerry "who amongst us is not a baseball fan?" Kerry further embarrassed himself when he attempted to purchase a cup of Dom Perignon, a bowl of Beluga Caviar, and some Cracker Jacks.
Ok, I made a lot of that up, but I think it was pretty funny.
