Seriously.... is anyone REALLY surprised?

Interesting story here concerning The Holy Father trying to stop the hemorrhaging "Spirit of Vatican II" mess that has diseased Brazil.
Few believe the five-day papal visit, which begins Wednesday, will reverse the flight of Catholics who have abandoned the church to become Protestants - or who simply stopped attending Mass amid profound societal change.
Brazil's census shows the percentage of citizens characterizing themselves as Catholics plunged from 89 percent in 1980 to 74 percent in 2000, while those calling themselves evangelical Protestants rose from 7 percent to 15 percent.
Let's cut through the bullshit, shall we? It was "The Spirit of Vatican II" that introduced Communist-inspired Liberation Theology to Latin America. Now atheism and religious indifferentism is on the rise. Anyone surprised?
It was "The Spirit of Vatican II" that shoved Moral Relativism and the whole "question everything" mentality down the throats of the Faithful in Latin America to the point that they lost their faith. Anyone surprised?
It was "The Spirit of Vatican II" that presented a liturgy that was so Protestant-friendly, millions of Catholics made a seamless shift to Protestantism. Anyone surprised?
But hey, we have problems here in The States. Check out my somewhat old post concerning the fastest growing denomination in the once Catholic stronghold of the Northeast United States.

Just because you see someone dressed like a pope does not mean that he is a pope.
Most Catholics would not bat an eyelid if the pope were a woman.
That is just how bad the situation is in the Novus Ordo church.

Reminds me of a baby-boomer former classmate who was always going about how bad her Catholic upbringing was. You see daddy was a mean drunk therefore it's all the Church's fault, like Pope Pius XII and John XXIII were supposed to do something about it. Reminds me of the religion episode of "Alien Nation" where George says to his partner, "The Church was supposed to do all of that?"
To quote Frs. Trigilio & Levis (from EWTN), "The Spirit of Vatican II is found in the LETTER of Vatican II."
That having been said all the stuff that was foisted on us in the name of the "Spirit" actually had nothing to do with the (Holy) Spirit or Vatican II.
Is there a "Springtime" as Pope JOhn Paul the Great said. Yes. BUt it is like any Springtime, it starts slow & unnoticed by most. A single plant bursting through the snow here, a bud there.
To most it still looks like Winter at worst, or like everything is still dead. But something is happening.
& despite how things look right now, Winter is coming to an end. I will trust that what Pope John Paul said was prophetic & is only in its 1st stages of being fulfilled, otherwise, with all the garbage that is still out there it would be so easy to give up & let Satan win.
The Springtime will come, God will see it done, maybe not fully in our lifetime, but then God's timeline is nothing like ours. Look at Abraham & how long it took for the promises God made to him to come to pass.
You forgot the promotion of Ecumenicism, which not only teaches that it doesn't matter which faith you belong to, but directs Catholics NOT to convert those of other faiths.
I guess the evangelical Protestants didn't get the memo. Oh wait, they don't recognize the Pope's authority, so how can the Holy Father be surprised at Brazilian Catholic numbers dwindling while evangelical Protestant numbers have nearly doubled.
Must be the New Math of the New Mass. (Say that five times quickly.)
