More From That Freak-Show Better Known As New Jersey
Joisey now tied with Than Franthithco on God's hit list

WARNING!! Harsh language alert! Send the kids out of the room.

Episcopalians (well, most of 'em) and Roman Protestants everywhere wobbled off their knees long enough to huzzah and hallelujah their lungs out over the announcement that disgraced ex-governor and full-time butt pirate, Jim McGreevey, has left The One, True Faith, and become an Episcopalian.

But wait! There's more! The Luv Gov is also going to become an Episcopalian "priest".

I just wanna make sure I have this right...

1. He lied to his wife for years about being a Back Door Conquistador.
2. He abandoned his wife and child.
3. He is now shacking up with his Aussie boyfriend. (No Down Under jokes. That'd be too easy)
4. He not once even had the decency to apologize to his wife.
5. He's not only unrepentant about lying to and abandoning his family, but also of committing the Sin of Sodom.

Mr. McGreevey, please cease and desist from mistaking your fecally stained erection with what should be your moral compass.

Oh, by the way... McGreevey has been busy for the past couple of years teaching Ethics, Law and Leadership at Kean University.

He'll make a fine Episcopalian "priest".

Any of you Episcopalians who still have your heads screwed on straight ready to Swim The Tiber?

I read about this earlier. But who are we to judge? He's an excellent candidate for bishop in the Episcopal Church! They do, after all, have a femi-nazi, crew-cut she-man as their presiding bishop in the US; why not make a bishop out of a former governer? Plus, he's an ass-bandit--he'd make a perfect bishop!

It seems as if the Anglican Communion is becoming the go-to for "gay catholics" who want to play at being Catholic and keep up their immoral behavior.

LOL! Is is any wonder some experts prediict the Anglican/Episcopalian churh will be basically defunct in another generation. First they OK birth control. (Well, OK, the real first was breaking from Rome, but that's another topic.) Then they OK women priests. Then women bishops. Then homo bishops. Is it any surprise that those members who actuallly belonged in the belief they were being led closer to God are returning to their orginal "home," the Catholic Church.

And now we see the true wisdom of Holy Mother Church in declaring all sacraments of orders conferred according to the Anglican claims of apostolic succession to be void. Imagine what sacrilege it would be if such men were actually given the true sacrament, rather than this vain emulation?

Regular guy posted on this earlier. The only people they wouldn't take are those who remember that their faith has a tradition that started LONG before 1960.

But Mccreepy's living proof that doughnut pokers can "get married." Can this church be anymore of a joke?
I doubt even Arius, Nestorius or the ilk would join it.

I share your sentiment. This life is a parody of morals, an insult to families, a farce of democratic accountability and a sacrilege against the Faith.

That said, I think the best we can do is pray for him, and all like him. Our revulsion and mockery will only steel him in sin, and make him liken himself to our Lord in his torment. As our Lord endured the malice of the crowd, these men and women are by Satan seduced into believing our insults prove their righteousness.

Do not give the enemy such ammunition.

Points well taken. But I ask you to consider this....

Does the likes of his REALLY need my comments to steel him in his sin? He seems to be doing just fin without them.

Haha, looks like I posted twice, forgetting that I have to wait for you to wake up and approve my comments.

Not so much steeling him in his sin, I think, as giving the tempter more fuel for his deception. Every soul, even the most grievously apostate, has the potential for renewed conversion - unfortunately, the further they stray from the true light of the Church, the brighter we must shine in virtue and charity.

After saying all that, of course, I still wish we could win souls by calling them turd burglars and arse-raiders. It comes so much more naturally to me. =(

Robert, the more I read your comments the more I like you.

I think you should look up the group Courage International on wikipedia. It was recognized by JPII, it is an orthodox organization. You should fully understand the ways in which the church reaches out to gays to live a life of celibacy before you speak out on such topics. A great deal of Christian charity is needed to admonish LGBT persons in a charitable way. If you won't listen to me because I am too liberal then listen to Robert or Fr. Joe, or the many truly orthodox and ultramontane voices who are better versed in this area.

I agree that McGreevey sounds like a sexual predator. I have known of men like him who were just bisexual sex addicts. It is sad to me that he is now trying to become some sort of gay poster child. And it is also sad to me that it will create even more trouble and suffering in the Anglican communion.

Again I say to you that Homosexuals have an extremely heavy cross to bear, and those that suceed in living celibate lives will probably rank above us in heaven, all other things being equal.

Sometimes the ugly truth is exactly what some folks need to hear.

How's the old saying go?

"The truth ain't pretty"

On a different thread, I already commented to Anon who was saying pretty much the same as you considering the organization "Courage".

To paraphrase what I said to him; I've never said anything disparaging to or about those with the homosexual inclination who strive to live a celebate lifestyle.

It's those who are obstinant in their sin that I go after full force (the same way I go after rapists, murderers, thieves, and other assorted scum-bags).

If you peruse my blog, you'll see that I speak the truth.

VSC, I sincerely agree. Above all things I desire Veritas, as Sts Dominic and Thomas Aquinas so famously taught the world. But the truth is only effective when people are listening, when people are willing to hear and accept it.

I find that pastoral truth deals a fatal blow when it is told in private, with no possibility of humiliation or embarrassment as a motivator. When you take a man aside and talk to him alone, with nobody watching, he can never convince himself that you're just trying to ridicule him or shame him in front of others - he is forced to realise that our motivation is purely the desire to save his soul.

Of course, in a situation such as this (nameless constituent calling to task a blind and deaf politician) this is clearly impractical. But for those immediately around us who struggle with the same vices, compassion and support will be amazingly more effective in redeeming the typically effeminate male homosexual than the far more virile techniques of unpolished mockery. When admonishing a football buddy to be a man and lay off the drink, it works wonders. When telling your brother-in-law to be a man and lay off the back door burglary, not so much.

As for the problems of alcoholism and violence, these are truly destructive vices and I am very happy to hear of your ability to overcome them. I must insist, however, that it is far less confusing to be a violent and alcoholic Christian than it is to be a homosexual Christian - for in the faith, only the obviously ignorant and untrustworthy will attempt to convince one that either of these is not a vice worth conquering. Unfortunately, homosexuals are preyed upon every day by wolves in sheep's clothing (some of them even have roman collars, or a crozier in hand) telling them that there is nothing wrong with their homosexual drive - that it is nothing more than "a part of who they are", not at all intrinsically opposed to the natural order given to us by the Father and confirmed by the Son. These people frequently succeed in turning souls away from the path to heaven, they play on the person's homosexual desires much as others once played upon your desire to drink, or my desire to masturbate and fornicate (these too are often declared "no longer sins"). The faith needs strong, informed and compassionate lay-people to catch these poor same-sex attracted lambs before the wolves. We need to show them that what they feel is not right, but that God has given them a way to remain in him, and draw closer, without falling into the sins of heresy, schism or sodomy. Above all, we need to show them that their place is still within the church, despite the particular vice that colours their march up to Calvary (as I'm sure you can tell from reading my comments, mine is definitely intellectualist pride).

So...are homosexuals the ONLY ones on this planet that bear a heavy cross? What about those who are starving to death in 3rd world countries? Or the child sex-slaves? Or the Welfare mom struggling to raise her kids all alone because daddy is off sleeping with his next sexually-liberated girly?

Why do we waste SO MUCH TIME moaning about the sufferings of homosexuals when we have REAL suffering going on in the world? I wish the liberals would shed a few tears for the REAL victims in this world instead of wasting so much time and energy weeping over homosexuals and femminists - almost all of whom are not starving and are not sex slaves last I heard. (Well...I suppose the sex slave part *could* be argued...)

My culture is becoming homosexual-obsessed! Meanwhile we have REAL problems that should be preached in school. How many classes get taught, at length and in as much graphic detail as the homosexual and sex-ed classes, about world hunger, sweat shops or child slavery?? No...instead they get homosexuality shoved down their throats and graduate from school thinking that the only folks that have to bear a hard cross are...homosexuals!!!

Let's just forget about the people with the REAL crosses out there!! Let's all hold hands and have a moment of silence in solidarity with the poor victimized homosexuals instead of focusing on the people who are really suffering.

I recently came across this "joke".

President Bush was giving a speech to a small elementary school. After the speech, he asked if the kids had any questions. Stanly stood up to the microphone, "I have 4 questions for you:

1 What ever happened to Osam Bin Laden?

2 Why is it you are president when the other guy had more votes?

3 Why did the U.S. invade Iraq without UN approval?

4 Why is gay marriage such a huge debate when 1/3 of all Americans are without health care?

Suddenly the recess bell rang and the questions were defered until afterwards.

When the kids reassembled after recess, Billy took his turn at the mic, "I have 6 questions for you, Mr. President:

1 What ever happened to Osam Bin Laden?

2 Why is it you are president when the other guy had more votes?

3 Why did the U.S. invade Iraq without UN approval?

4 Why is gay marriage such a huge debate when 1/3 of all Americans are without health care?

5 Why did the recess bell ring 20 minutes early?

6 And what the heck happened to Stanly?

Har har ....

Here were /my/ answers:

1 What ever happened to Osam Bin Laden?

Last we (the public anyway) had seen, he was looking like he was at death's door, most likely he died. (I don't really know)

2 Why is it you are president when the other guy had more votes?

That is the way our electoral process works, that's why the big 11 are so important.

3 Why did the U.S. invade Iraq without UN approval?

Because the UN were dragging their heels when a decisive action was needed.

4 Why is gay marriage such a huge debate when 1/3 of all Americans are without health care?

Because it's all the liberals want to talk about. If the ones bringing up the issue would realize they were in the wrong, then they wouldn't need to be responded to and it would free up tons of time, energy and manpower to focus on the real issues, like lack of healthcare.

Please forgive me if my opinions seem to be uninformed, I'm more of a "from the heart" kind of gal and I don't really keep up on all current events. This was simply my first gut reaction when I read it and I get really miffed when people start president bashing. Sorry, I like him and think he's doing the best job he can with what he has to work with. At least he isn't sleeping around on his wife, like the last president.

Hi Coffee-Wife,

Are you a starving sex slave? I doubt it. Have you heard someone call a homosexual faggot or some other explitive? Probably. Did you jump up like christ angry in the temple and defend those struggling towards a life of celibacy, just like you would try to rescue a sex slave if you saw one?

Conservatives tend to lose sight of charity, Liberals tend to lose sight of chastity. Both tendencies should be struggled against by the faithful.

I know for a fact that the vatican-endorsed Courage movement explicitly works against the tendency you mention. They very definitively state that theirs is not the only cross to bear.

Personally, I can agree that being tortured or being a sex slave or something would be worse than being gay, or that there is worse suffering out there. I might even be able to imagine that G-d's purpose in creating a homosexual must offer rewards beyond the celibacy that are complex. But, I still think it is super tough to be called by god to restrain your sexuality.

You ask why "we waste SO MUCH TIME" on homosexuality. Well, that's because we don't have a whole lot of overt or legal sex slavery in the USA. We do have a lot of overt and tolerated bigotry towards gays in the USA, and we have overt and tolerated abortion.

So that is why you see a bigger overt effort to diminish abortion and bigotry in this country and a little less effort on sex slavery since it is at least not overt and legal, at least not in this country. That's not to say that there aren't both liberal and conservative organizations who want to get rid of sex slaves in places like Bangkok and India.

My point here is that if you want to confront evil, you are called to do so in a charitable, church-approved way. For homosexuality, I would say that would consist of volunteering or donating to groups like Courage International, and not name calling or bigotry. For abortion that would be also joining groups like Project Rachel and not, i dunno, murdering abortion doctors in cold blood.

I'll let you and Coffee Wife duke this one out. But let me pass this on to you;

Please refrain from calling abortionists "doctors" while you are visiting here.

Doctors heal. Abortionists murder babies. And while I'm at it, I don't endorse the shooting of abortion butchers, but don't expect alligator tears from me when one of the modern-day nazis is (ironically) the recipient of a .45 retroactive abortion.
