"From Our Own Truth And Inner Authority"
Who needs the magisterium when there are nuns better in touch with the real truth?
From The California Catholic Daily, here's just a wee bit;
The peace and justice ministry of the Los Angeles archdiocese is promoting a “gathering” that will feature a Dominican sister known as a defender of diversity -- “bio” and sexual.
The event is cosponsored by Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles and the Immaculate Heart Community, a women’s religious community that broke with the Los Angeles archdiocese in 1970 because Cardinal James McIntyre would not tolerate the community’s version of “renewal.”
The Immaculate Hearts’ “renewal” has developed over the years to embrace feminism and Earth Spirituality, a movement that claims to draw from wisdom traditions and the “new science” to arrive at a quasi-pantheistic view of the universe as the body of God. A representative of both feminism and Earth Spirituality, Adrian Dominican sister Carol Coston will address the June gathering.
Cultural diversity, it appears, includes what is called “gender diversity.” In 1999, Coston wrote a letter to religious sisters in which she criticized the Holy See’s silencing of Sister Jeannine Gramick and Father Robert Nugent, whose New Ways Ministry (which calls itself “a gay-positive ministry of advocacy and justice for lesbian and gay Catholics and reconciliation within the larger Christian and civil communities”) the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith found inconsistent with Church teaching.
In her “Reflections” on the silencing, Coston complained of the Church’s squelching of “individual conscience” and the autonomy of “individual sisters and their communities.” She questioned the “process” which the Church has followed “in arriving at the ‘official’ teaching on homosexuality.”
The burden of Coston’s “Reflections” was the question, “How shall we respond?” And her answer: “From our own truth and inner authority, as women religious living into the next millennium.”
This whole thing smacks of a post I did awhile back concerning an allegedly "Catholic" nun who stated that abortion was "essential" and "not murder". And she's still a Religious in good standing. Amazing.
I wonder if those who hate Archbishop Lefevbre for all his "disobedience" will say even one negative thing about either of these crazy nuns. We'll see.

Is that really a nun with a hookah???
As a Dominican, I wish to disavow any connection whatsoever with this alleged "Dominican sister" who squarely opposes the Magisterium of the Church. Our Lady revealed to Holy Father Dominic that his Order of Preachers dwells under the protection of her Mantle; this broad has taken herself out from under it. She needs bushels and bushels of prayers.
Now, if memory serves (and I think it does here) these "Immaculate Heart" people gave a large donation to the recent Lost Angels Misedumaction Effluence and were lauded. I do NOT recall if they had any booths or what not.
I am sure most of you read the large pdf file for the Effluence which listed all the events, speakers, workshops *cough* and so forth. I am sure they were mentioned in there or on a link on the 2007 website.
Sometimes I amaze myself.
here is the pdf file:
http://www.recongress.org/2007/pdf/Program2007.pdf
They are at the top of p71 "Enrollment Fund" with a $805 contribution.
On page 85 under "Religious Life", booth 451.
Page 89 under "Exhibitor Listing."
This is a long url...

quote:
"A climate of renewal, called for by the second Vatican Council, brought about a break from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 1970 and opened membership to men and women, single or married, from all Christian denominations."
The Church is not a denomination.
Amen, Anita! I haven't blogged it at all, but I should be enrolled as an OPL myself very soon. This "sister" violates the charism of the order and the Holy Father Dominic in every conceivable way, it's simply unbelievable.
In a less fluffy age she'd be at least discharged and excommunicated, if not more severely penalised for her acts of schism and heresy.
Who cares about Lefevbre? How did that last sentence pop in there? Oh wait, its another dissenter looking to justify dissent he likes by pointing out all the dissent he doesn't like.
You really undermine your credibility and your position when you constantly fall back on defending this dissenter. A true ultramontane, obedient position would not be striving for some way to defend an excommunicated schismatic. "Look even this bad, bad person hasn't been excommunicated!"
So? We get it. You feel persecuted as a conservative dissenter. All the liberal dissenters get to have all the fun and none of the punishment. It's a left wing homosexual conspiracy. OK? We heard you. We know you feel that way. [yawn]
WC,
As predicted, you said absolutely nothing about these crazy "nuns" who just wiped their collective asses with the Magesterium.
As predicted, the mere mention of the name "Lefebvre" has got you foaming at the mouth (as usual).
Your absolute hatred of Archbishop Lefevbre and to everything pre-Vatican II would be laughable if you just weren't so pathetic.
Your predictability has people seeing just what a joke you "Liberal Catholics" are. At first, it was fun taking you apart bit by bit. But now... I'm worried about you.
You have a hatred that is consuming you. Of course, you don't see it. Or I should say... you refuse to even consider that you have this problem.
Think about it --- you won't even speak for a second about these nut-job nuns. But you go into orbit over the mere mention of the name of Archbiship Lefevbre. Don't you see anything somewhat screwy with your thought process?
I really do feel sorry for you, WC.
WC, do you have ANYTHING to say regarding these "nuns"?
VSO,
Of course she has nothing to say about these whack-job "nuns"! Why in the world should WC say anything against those she actually supports?
She's as transparent as she is predictable.
Here's a bunch of crazy wacko leftist nut jobs, and here's a blurb at the end about how conservative dissenters are really maligned and unfairly treated. [yawn].
It's boring rhetoric. I could do the same on my blog but I don't. I could easily fill up a post with the doings of a bunch of right-wing wackos, and then follow-it up withs some blurb about contraception or something. But that'd be silly. And boring.
WC,
If you find my blog boring, there really is a simple solution. Just don't come back anymore.
Yes, it really is that simple.
But I've noticed over the past few weeks how you've conducted yourself in here pretty much runs the same way you have towards the Church.
~ I never asked you to come here, but you were welcome.
~ You had some disagreements, but I listened and even allowed your disagreements to be made public knowledge.
~ You crossed the line on one occasion, and I had to revoke your ability to speak on that certain topic anymore. Undoubtedly, that irked you. Oh well.
~ You've tried to set the tone and steer the conversation your (liberal) way, but consistently were told no.
~ When you realized that you couldn't have your way, you decided to make snide comments about how "boring" this blog is.
Face it WC, you're not big into "dissent". You're big into being a control freak and a neo-Protestant.
By the way, I couldn't help but notice that you still have failed to say anything against these crazy nuns. And we both know the reason why... right?
