The Other Side Of The Coin
Where the hell are the Pope's DEFENDERS?
So far, we have Cardinal Pell of Sydney, Australia; Rowan Williams, the spiritual leader of 77 million Anglicans worldwide; and the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel.
Those are the only major figures who have stepped forward to defend The Holy Father. And let's be honest, With the exception of Cardinal Pell, the other two "defenses" were pretty tepid.
But anyhow, One Catholic. One Protestant. One secular elected official. That's pretty much it.
I've just got to ask - where the hell is Bush? Oh... he's busy rewriting all his speeches. Gotta take out the word "Islamo-Fascists". Don't want to be accused of violating anyone's dignity. Must have our priorities straight, you know.
And while I'm at it, where the hell's the USCCB? Whoops! They can't be bothered with defending the pope against death threats and such. They're up to their eyeballs in really important stuff... like U.S. Bishops Urge Congress to Meet ‘Highest Ethical Standards’ for Treatment of Prisoners and Bishop Asks President, Congress for a Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill
Poor Pope Benedict. This is a scene straight out of one of those corny Service Comedies from back in the 1950's. You know... there's the general on the battlefield -- he yells "let's go, boys! CHARGE!!" -- he gets about 50 feet onto the battlefield, and turns around just to see that no one's there.
...And the audience howled with laughter. Sad thing is, no ones laughing now.

It is disappointing that our Secretary of State is so busy with her love-life that minor matters such as the initiative proposed by B-16 can be ignored.
But then, one gets the impression that Ms. Rice shoulda stuck with piano playing...
As to the USCC...
We have here a case of sheeples who are SUPPOSED to be shepherds.
Since the preponderance of B-16's remarks likely 'hit home' with many of our Bishops (you know, that stuff about separating Faith and Reason leading to insanity...) they weren't likely to AFFIRM the message.
Might mean that they actually would have to ...I dunno...become CATHOLIC or something..
George is already on Islam's $#!+ list, and doesn't dare alienate the few Arab pals he's got left (yeah, yeah with friends like these..). So, he's not going to go out on a limb for a guy, and the Church, who wasn't terribly enthusiastic about his Iraq excremen, um, experiment in democracy.
Tony Blair is up to his eyeballs in Moslems, who are itching for a beheading or two, so he isn't going to squeak much either. Chirac is in a similar canoe, without a paddle either.
It's a chain (bindingly so) that goes like this:
He who needs Oil, needs Arabs
Arabs need to placate Moslems
Moslems demand submission.
Hence, he who needs oil needs to submit to Moslems (in any number of ways).
Hey, now, Dad29. I'm no fan of Dr. Rice, but the fact that the MSM is intent on making much of time she spends in Canada with Peter Mackay doesn't mean she's an incompetent Secretary of State. She's ultimately answerable to the President, who, as Jimbob observed, is not going to risk his last remaining Middle East and Central Asian alliances for the Pope. The jury's still out on Dr. Rice, IMHO, but the buck stops at her boss.
