PreVatII's Idea of Apologizing
So let me see if I fully understand the current situation: Since 9/11, the media, Hollywood, and even our President, has called Islam a "religion of peace." (No matter that Islam means "submission.")
Now due to some cartoons drawn of their prophet, Mohammad, the Islamic world is up in arms, rioting and killing. And as a reaction to all this, the media is apologizing for being so insensitive? I'm just a bit curious if anyone in our western media, Hollywood, the New York Times, BBC, NPR, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN or those on the Hill are planning on apologizing for those great "works of art" that depicted elephant dung on a painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a crucifix in a jar of urine, "The Last Temptation of Christ," historically inaccurate portrayals of Pius XII, John Paul II, and now Benedict XVI, etc, etc.
Of course, traditionalists like myself have been told time and again that we need to be tolerant of others, that I must respect others opinions, and that I need to stop being so narrow minded. I need to be sensitive to Muslim religious beliefs. OK, fair enough. But one would think that with 1.1 billion of us Catholics world wide, that we might rise up, rioting, maiming and killing. Would we be justified? (Not to worry. Most Catholics, since Vatican II, simply couldn't be bothered to get off the couch!)
So I'm thinking: Are we being sensitive enough to our brother Muslims?
My advice to the Dutch, French, and Canadians, and to the rest of Western Europe is actually very straight forward: "Best of luck with all of this. Hope it all works out for you." In the mean time, I'll watch the news, and continue to stock the ammo.

I guess West Europe is the canary in the mine. What happnes there is like a warning for us here. Maybe when American women need to bring head scarves along on their trips to Europe to comply with the local laws, people will take note.
Islam is a religion of piece.
A body piece over there, another one over here and still more scattered across the ground.
