FINALLY, Vatican II For What It Really Is
'Bout time!!

Looks like the pope is going to re-visit how people should look upon the Second Vatican Council. http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/new.php?n=5572

Like I've always said, there is very little in Vatican II that is actually binding upon pain of sin (dogma). The overwhelming majority of V2 is, in essence, "let's lake a look at...". Period.

All those wonderful, non-dogmatic pronouncements are, and have always been, open to discussion, debate, and even nullification. From what I see so far, looks as if His Holiness is going to "GASP* actually come out and say that!!

Remember gang, it took 40 years to screw things up. Nothing's going to be fixed overnight.

Let's hope this is a sign of better days ahead for the traditional Faith and the traditional Latin Mass.

To follow up...

There are two very good posts at the Catholic News Agency regarding this post. I am inclined to think that nothing will really change for the better until the Council is repudiated and the Novus Ordo Missae is abolished.

Didnt the Pope play a key role in the Council? Interesting that he might be leading an "about face". That's why I hesitate in being overly enthusiastic. Cautious optimism is more like it.

Good points, Gaufrifus. Two things keep coming to mind;

1. The power of prayer

2. Never underestimate the Workings of The Holy Ghost

nsd,

You are of course right on both counts. To that end, I will continue to pray that the Holy Ghost will inspire the Holy Father towards Tradition.

gaufridus,

Why not pray that the Holy Ghost inspire the Holy Father towards God's Will?

Because God's Will and Tradition are the same thing, I could probably use the terms interchangeably. I'd rather be more precise in my language, since imprecision is part of the problem.

Anonymous,
I don't think your suggestion is a novel idea, it's about 2000 years old.
