Singapore Executes Drug Smuggler
Don't do the crime if you can't pay the fine
Despite the loud and constant objections of Cardinal Pell of Sydney, Nguyen Tuong Van of Australia was executed on Dec 2. http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2005/12/02/1133422081061.html
I for one, won't be shedding any alligator tears for him. Van smuggled 400 grams of pure uncut heroin into Singapore with the intention of... using it as baby powder? Oh, and he also stood at making over $770,000 from his little transaction.
Van knew damn good and well that the penalty for smuggling heroin into Singapore was death. In fact, 15 grams is all that's needed for the hangman's noose. But do you think that kept him from trying to bring in 400 grams? Van went into this with his eyes wide open. He knew what could happen if caught. But I guess he was just focusing in on the $770,000.
Should I even bring up the hundreds, if not thousands of lives that could have been tragically touched (and crushed) by said 400 grams of smack?

Kudos to Singapore. Another POS takes a dirt bath.
