The Real Presence - Christ physically present in the Eucharist, or just what Santa brings once a year?
One of the bigger topics of debate between Catholics and Protestants would be the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
Is the Eucharist really the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ or just a symbol?
For the many Protestants, especially those of the Fundamentalist stripe, are hard core "take the Holy Bible literally" types. So why is it that they so easily disregard The Holy Gospel of St. John, Chapter 6... specifically the following;
54 Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you. 55 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day.
56 For my flesh is meat indeed: and my blood is drink indeed. 57 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, abideth in me, and I in him. Not exactly symbolic language, is it? And that's just a handful of examples. For those interested, check out the following;
Mt 26:26-27; Mk 14:22,24; Lk 22:19-20; 1 Cor 10:24-25 ... this is my body ... this is my blood.
1 Cor 11:26-30 ... sinning against the body and blood.
Gen 14:18; Ps 110:4; Heb 7:1-17 ... Melchizedek.
Acts 2:42 ... breaking of bread.
Ps 27:1-2; Is 9:18-20; Is 49:26; Micah 3:3; Rev 17:6,16 ... symbolic interpretation of Jn 6 inappropriate. And for those that still knowingly refuse to accept the reality of the Real Presence, I suggest you read a few lines from the Holy Gospel of St. John, again, Chapter 6;
61 Many therefore of his disciples, hearing it, said: This saying is hard, and who can hear it? 62 But Jesus, knowing in himself, that his disciples murmured at this, said to them: Doth this scandalize you? ... 67 After this many of his disciples went back; and walked no more with him. 68 Then Jesus said to the twelve: Will you also go away? Those that turned their back on Christ over the Real Presence didn't begin with Martin Luther. That particular decision was made by many all the way back to 33 AD.

Again with that picture! I don't want to, but I just can't help but look. LOL
Perhaps we should take up a special collection at the end of Mass for a decent wimple and veil for our cave-sister....
Hey guys, give him a break. As I said before, this is the picture that will appear on the Holy Cards after his canonization.
As Cardinal Arinze once pointed out, while Jesus is present when the Catholic Community gathers etc, there is a difference between them & the Eucharistic presence that puts the Eucharistic presence above the rest. & that is because Jesus is substantially present in the Eucharist. Thus the Eucharist is so much more than the rest. It is the pinacle.
When we see people trying to downplay or deny the Real Presence we see people denying the heart & soul of the Catholic Faith. Glad to see you are doing your part to defend it. Keep up the good work of defending the truth.
Take an informal poll about who believes in the Real Presence. The next time you're at a New Order parish, see what percentage of congregants genuflect to their Lord & Savior in the tabernacle. The conduct the same survey at your next traditional Latn Mass.
In defense of the first group, much of the blame rests on the priests and bishops who have failed to properly teach them.
