The Great Liberal Denial Incarnate
Dear liberal commenter, thanks for proving my point
On my "The Great Liberal Denial" post of yesterday, I received a rather interesting ComBox posting. Here's a few choice selections; (his comments are in bold italics)
"The only reference I could find about rape and Beslan was in the article that apparently spawned that slideshow: - Maybe somebody else is better at searching for these things than I am. I wouldn't want to think they were being inflammatory or anything."
After an internet search that took all of five seconds, I came up with 12,000 hits to the key words "Beslan rape". Also, the commenter got it wrong. The article didn't begat the slide show, the slideshow begat the article. But in all fairness, liberals usually get things backwards.
Anyhow, here's just two of some of the first ones I've read;

Meanwhile, Indira Dzetskelova, the mother of one of the child hostages in Beslan, Russia, reports that “several 15-year-old girls were raped by terrorists.” Her daughter “heard their terrible cries and screams when those monsters took them away.”
This indicates that there are two things the massacre in Beslan have in common with the ongoing massacres in Darfur: both, no less than the 9/11 attacks, are examples of Islamic jihad terrorism, and both are characterized by rape.
And this from the Sunday Mirror (United Kingdom)
THEY KNIFED BABIES, THEY RAPED GIRLS
THE full horror of the Russian school atrocity began to emerge yesterday as traumatised children told horrific tales of stabbed babies and brutal rapes. It has also emerged that scores of the 323 who died - including many children - had been shot in the back.
While despairing soldiers and rescue workers moved among the growing pile of body bags, it was revealed that an 18-month-old baby had been repeatedly stabbed by a black-clad terrorist who had run out of ammunition. Other survivors told how screaming teenage girls were dragged into rooms adjoining the gymnasium where they were being held and raped by their Chechen captors who chillingly made a video film of their appalling exploits
"Paint me a liberal then, but this is simply irresponsible fear-mongering."
And here are even a few more examples of fear-mongering...
1. "The British are coming, the British are coming!!" - Paul Revere. Horseback, Massachusetts countryside.
2. "Air raid Pearl Harbor. This is no drill." - Flash message from Commander Logan Ramsey (USN), Ford Island Command Center to all military commands in Hawaii.
3. "If My requests are not granted, Russia will spread its errors throughout the world, raising up wars and persecutions against the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will suffer much and various nations will be annihilated." - The Blessed Virgin Mary. Fatima, Portugal.
"Everybody complains about the US having such a porous border. It's been 6 years since 9/11. Why hasn't this happened already?"
Obviously, you've already forgotten about the foiled attacks on:
a. Fort Dix, N.J. Remember how they planned on getting on base disguised as pizza delivery men, then go through various barracks armed with AK-47's killing unarmed troops?
b. The aviation fuel storage facility at JFK Airport in New York. Upwards of a million gallons of fuel blown up in one fell swoop. How charming.
c. The two Middle-Eastern "students" recently arrested outside the Naval Weapons Station in Charleston, SC. Remember what they had in the trunk? Pipe bombs.
Evil does exist, but that's no excuse to go off the deep end and stop using the brain that the good Lord gave us.
Looks as if you've already beat us fear-mongering Right-Wingers to the punch.

Obviously, you've already forgotten about the foiled attacks on:
Until the US can account for all the missing "visitors" (students, visa holders etc.) then WE ARE NOT any better than we where pre 9/11.
(just my 2cents)
Also as a frequent flyer, the airports are a joke, in regards to security. Perhaps when they start to hire people that are qualified instead of hirig people just to get them off welfare rolls security at airports will improve!

You know, it's amazing how rampant denial runs through liberal and "Spirit of V2" minds. I get so tired of feeling like a passenger on the Titanic waiting for somebody to notice the iceberg.

I really hope that you are not lumping me in with these 2 groups...as that is the farthest thing from the truth.
Yep, I believe (sadly) that until Malibu or Hollywood or San Francisco is blown off the map by terrorists, they will always be in denial.
Although I suppose denial is slightly more preferable to the other liberal argument: America is to blame, America deserved the attacks because of our (insert one here: capitalism, foreign policy, conservatives, etc.)
If America is to blame, the ONLY reason is our falling away from God and the true Faith. A notion that makes liberal heads explode.

I can't speak for VSO, but the phrase "Spirit of Vatican II" (with emphasis on spirit) relates to the liberalization/Creeping Protestantism that's infected The Church.
Those with a theoligically liberal mindset constantly attempt to rationalize they liberalism but stating "well, in the Spirit of Vatican II..."
More often than not, whatever agenda they're thrying to push at that particular time, has absolutely nothing with the official documentation found anywhere in V2.
