Seriously... What The Hell Is Going On?
Has the USCCB finally lost it's mind?
I've been making a real effort as of late to try to ease up a bit on the USCCB. Not all of the members are direct spiritual descendants of Judas Iscariot... so as a whole, I've tried to lighten up.
I'm trying my best not to lose my temper and go off like a Roman Candle... but this latest one really has me scratchin' my head.
US Conference of Catholic Bishops Appoints Woman with Pro-Abortion Ties as Policy Director
By Matthew Cullinan Hoffman
WASHINGTON, September 17, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) -- Kathy Saile, who once gave a speech on promoting liberalism at a conference held by a pro-abortion group, has been named Director of Domestic Policy for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).
Previous to the appointment, Saile was Associate Director of Public Policy for Lutheran Services in America (USA), an organization that serves the extremely liberal Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA), which recently declared that their "clergy" were free to participate in homosexual relationships.
In her official capacity as Associate Director of Public Policy for the group, Saile gave a speech at a conference held by the organization "WIN", which describes itself as "Washington's premier professional, political, and social network dedicated to empowering young, Democratic, pro-choice women." The topic of the discussion was "Did the Left Cede Heaven? The Intersection of Faith and Politics."
The summary of the conference given on WIN's website reads: "Throughout American history religion has shaped US politics. Recent history has focused on the efforts and effects of Conservative Christians in the Republican Party, but the Left continues to be a party of people of faith. This dinner will highlight the way liberal people of faith organize to further progressive causes."
LifeSiteNews has also confirmed that Lutheran Services in America has a policy of distributing birth control at clinics affiliated with the organization.
A request for a response from the USCCB's press spokesman, Sr. Mary Anne Walsh, was not answered at the time of publication.
Now if a writer (and possibly a small research staff) could find out all this info, why couldn't whoever appointed her from the USCCB find out this information as well?
Or maybe that person or persons already did and have known all along.

Shameful, absolutely shameful. What is the point of hiring and appointing people like this? Are the liberals in the Church trying to create a schism to be able to break off and do their own thing? There is a place for these people, it's in the Episcopal Church. I understand that pro-choice, pro-gay, anti-conservative people are very much at home there.
Cavey, just cast your mind back to Friday night, and also remember that we will eventually breed them out... Liberals tend not to have kids.
I cannot speak for all of the bishops of the USCCB, but don't blame Bishop Tod Brown of the Diocese of Orange in Southern California because evidently no one tells him anything - if he remains ignorant of what is going on in his own diocese except for what his lawyers tell him (as he claimed in testimony under oath), how can you expect him to know what is going on at a national level in the Church?
Hey Sarge, somethings awry with you html code. Everything's underlined as if it links to something.
Caveman: I'm really glad that bloggers are turning up the heat on this abominable woman getting a position with the USCCB.
Caver--you and I have gone a few rounds on USCCB, but on THIS one it appears that Mgr. Malloy has screwed up mightily.
Assuming, of course, that the babe-ette was not jammed down his throat.
You must put the appointment in context. We've entered a new election cycle. The USCCB [the Democratic Party at Prayer] has to get its ducks in a row to support the next Democrat nominee for president.
This is simply more important than pro-life efforts or anything else.
The first thing I did, when I learned about this, was to e-mail the judas iscariot fan club, at
commdept@usccb.org, and tell them about it.
If we all do that, maybe we can either
a) Make them sneakier
b) Make them pay more money for internet service.
But really, until a bishop gets deposed, the Sodomites and Heretics will keep playing games.
Sickening. When are these old '6o's rejects found in the USCCB going to die off or retire?
"And unto whomsoever much is given, of him much shall be required: and to whom they have committed much, of him they will demand the more." (Luke 12:48)
I'm afraid there's more truth to what Paul suggests then most of us care to admit.
Edmund said, "Liberals tend not to have kids." Unfortunately, these days most Catholics are down to 2 or less, which -- as "Catholic" Europe is discovering -- isn't enough to maintain the population.
Cavey,
What did you expect from the Judas Iscariot Fan Club? The USCCB lost the Faith years ago.
I know! Maybe the Barry Manilow fans among them are hoping he will give her an interview since he won't do so for pro-lifers. q.v.

On the one hand the USCCB does this and on the other we're expected to listen to it when it makes it pronouncements about the liturgy or how to minister to a particular contingent of the population. How does an organized group of lay people make an official pronouncement telling the USCCB to do jump in a lake?
Given that they were made Bishops, and haven't been unmade as Bishops, the authority of the Church remains with them, and not with us.
Sad and pathetic as it may be, our only official recourse is prayer.
Oh my gosh...how could the USCCB allow this to occur.
Bear with me please, I am a fairly new convrt to the faith but isn't there some sort of double, triple checking going on to prevent this from happening?
You folks are surprised?
