Larsterkhan Nails It!
Swing by and say hi to Lars!

In the post below, Larsterkhan sent the following comment;

This also reminds me of how in many places we are asked to pray for peace. Peace is in general a good thing. But there are things worse. So instead of praying for peace, I pray for victory. Which to my way of seeing things will bring peace.

That got me thinking... look at these two paintings;

Our Lady of Peace

Our Lady of Victory
Notice these aren't two different individuals holding The Christ Child. That's right... it's the very same Blessed Virgin Mary.

Peace and victory... victory and peace. They aren't contradictory, they're complimentary.

Yah.

But do not make the mistake of those who reduce God's victory to here-and-now enemy-eliminations.

There are a lot of those around, and their interpretation of the Bible is, ah....short-sighted.

I too am tired of half-assed prayers. Hence the Rosary for Victory.

Dad29,
Of course we all know what the ultimate voctory of The Lord is.

And there are also going to be the occassional here-and-now enemy-eliminations victories as well. Such as Tours, Vienna, Lepanto, etc.

anita moore,
Love the idea of the Rosary for Victory. I've been thinking lately that the best thing those of us on the homefront can do is to pray for the conversion of our Muslim brothers and sisters.

dad29,
Don't worry. I would much rather have victory by the conversion of hearts than physical elimination. As in all things I hope to conform to the will of our Lord.

Pope Paul VI had great advice for attaining peace: "If you want peace, work for justice."
