Prots Pissed, Eastern Orthos Ecstatic
Gee... whoda thunkit?
In another Benedict Bombshell, The Holy Father just issued a doctrinal statement from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF), presented in question-and-answer format, addresses questions about the teaching of the Second Vatican Council that the Church founded by Jesus Christ "subsists" in the Catholic Church.
The CDF affirms that while other Christian bodies can play a role in bringing people to salvation, it is in the Catholic Church that "the Church of Christ is concretely found on this earth." The Vatican document makes a further distinction between Orthodox churches that have preserved valid sacraments, and should be recognized as "sister churches," and Protestant groups that have not preserved the Eucharistic presence.

Protestants Criticize, Orthodox Welcome Vatican Document
Geneva/Moscow, Jul. 11, 2007 (CWNews.com) - Leading Protestant figures have criticized the new Vatican document affirming the central role of the Catholic Church, but the Russian Orthodox Church has welcomed the document as an "honest" statement that "shows how close or, on the contrary, how divided we are."
Metropolitan Kirill observed that he saw "nothing new" doctrinally in the statement. He argued that "everything contained in the Catholic document rightfully applies to the Orthodox Church," since the Orthodox Church has preserved apostolic succession.
Two napalm runs in a row. I readily admit that I was wrong. Der PanzerPapst is HERE!!!

My favorite part is that those who really don't have any interest in being part of what Catholics call The Church are most offended when Catholics say they're not part of The Church.
We say that to be a Church, you have to be founded by Christ, have Apostolic succession, a ministerial priesthood and valid sacraments.
They say all you need is the Book.
(I wonder if a Protestant would be pleased to be given the owner's manual to a Lexus as a present. Then he could say he has a Lexus, right?)
Completely unrelated, but I know you'll like it.

No surprise here. Prots are theological anarchists.
BTW Josephus, loved that link!
Far be it from me to say "I told you so..."
It seems the word "church" has a broader meaning these days. Capital "C" Church means the Catholic Church which Christ founded (the only one he founded) and lower case "c" church means that the sect has valid sacraments and apostolic succession. But calling them “church” does not mean they are apart of the body of Christ because they deny dogma and are not subject to the Roman Pontiff, its just using the word with a broader meaning.
Is this what I am reading?
Next time someone gets their undies in a bundle, ask them if they think their faith is the "one, true" faith. Chances are, they'll say no (for whatever reason). Then ask them why they're spending time worshiping in a faith they don't believe is true.
See what kind of answers you get.
VIVA IL PAPA!!!!!!!!!!
Good one Amy! Now I got to remember that...
