A Tale Of Two Bishops
Who's more in line with The Holy Father? You make the call
In reference to the recent Motu Proprio freeing the Traditional Latin Mass, we have reactions from two different bishops. [Emphasis mine]
First we have Bishop #1;
~ One Italian bishop said he was "in mourning".
~ "I can't fight back the tears. This is the saddest moment in my life as a man, priest and bishop."
~ "It's a day of mourning, not just for me but for the many people who worked for the Second Vatican Council. A reform for which many people worked, with great sacrifice and only inspired by the desire to renew the Church, has now been cancelled."
Now we have Bishop #2;
~ "Benedict XVI's apostolic letter expanding the use of the 1962 missal returns to the Church its liturgical tradition."
~ "Summorum Pontificum" re-establishes the Missal of John XXIII in its rights and "clearly recognizes that it had never been abrogated."
~ "...extends its deep gratitude to the Sovereign Pontiff for this great spiritual benefit."
Give up? Bishop #1 is Bishop Luca Brandolini, a member of the liturgy commission of the Italian bishops' conference. Bishop #2 is Bishop Bernard Fellay, Superior General of the Society of St. Pius X.

Isn't a great time to be a caveman Catholic?!! First the Motu Proprio comes and it throws the Catholic Liberals into a hissy fit about the dark ages!! Then for an encore the Pope merely reasserts Catholic Dogma when he says that the Catholic Church is the One True AND ONLY Church!!
It's a great time!!!!
Maybe I'm just an ignorant country bumpkin...but I'll forever fail to understand how persons of such authority within the Church have such a problem with humility and acceptance of the Holy Father's wishes....He's the boss for Pete's sake...Get over it....
#2
Bp. #1 ALSO admits to being a "student" of Mgr. 'Bugsy' Bugnini, and that he 'sat at his feet'...yadayadayada.
No wonder he has hissyfit crying spells.
Hopefully reconciliation with the SSPX is just around the corner. Our Pope is the one to be able to pull it off. His track record is looking very good for just two years and a bit in office.
vir...
I don't get #1. He can still celebrate the NO Mass, but now he has more options--and can also celebrate the TLM--wah, wah. V2 should have always offered both alternatives.

Tara,
That's because if we even have an OPTION for a more traditional Catholicism... individuals like Bishop Brandolini will go right into orbit.
For him and his ilk, it's all New Mass or nothing.
