Anyone Else Notice A Parallel?
Simply amazin'... ain't it?

A few weeks ago, I pointed out that of the over 300 members of the USCCB, less than a dozen United States Bishops have come out and stated publicly that they would refuse Holy Communion to pro-abortion "Catholic" politicians, per the directives of The Holy Father. Less than a dozen out of 300. Isn't that pathetic?

Anyhow, I can't think of all that many American Bishops that have come right out and stated that they would obey the recent Summorum Pontificum, per the directives of The Holy Father, no ifs, ands or buts. No nuancing, no "exploratory committees", no "revisions the sacramental norms"... none of that nonsense.

Can anyone name more than a dozen US Bishops that have just come right out and said they will support The Holy Father without reservation? I can't.

I think Fr. Z is collecting those names right now. Offhand, I was (pleasantly) surprised by how many bishops responded positively.

Of course, the USCCB still has a loooooooooooooooooooooong way to go before it reestablishes cordial relations with reality (cf. their desire to meet with those pro-abortion "Catholic" congresspersons regarding the Iraq war*) but it's a start.

The way you wrote this blog reminded me of how Abraham "haggled" with God over saving Sodom and Gomorrah.

This is no surprise.

We have 'priests' here in the Chicago area that think they are the reason people go to Mass...if you want to call it that. Showboaters.

Not to mention the cabaret act-type musicians making a mockery out of the Holy Mass.

Latin Mass all the way for me. Thank you.

USCCB has a newsletter link on their website in which they published the Motu Propio. Following the Motu Propio, there's a Q & A section in which questions aobut the Motu Propio are answered in a rather incomplete manner. The only reason listed, for example, as to why the Motu Propio was issued, is that it would bring certain groups within the Church into closer unity with the rest of the Church. Nothing mentioned about those who still simply prefer the classical form of the rite or about the score of young people attracted to it, as the Holy Father himself mentioned in the MP.

Rey,
I attended Mass once at a church in El Cajon, Calif where the priest came down to the center aisle (so much for the "bully pulpit") with a cordless mike and entertained the congrega, er, audience it what was supposed to be a "homily." When he finished, the "audience" gave him a round of applause! (Hey, that's how you reward an "entertainer.")

Richard,
"the Motu Propio....would bring certain groups within the Church into closer unity with the rest of the Church."
Is that to imply those of us who love the classical Mass weren't already close to the Church? Hmmmm.
