500 protesters, followers of Ayatollah Mahmud al-Hassani, a mystical Shiite Muslim cleric, burned German and American flags and called for the Pope to be tried in an international court.
Al-Qaeda in Iraq warned in an internet statement it would wage jihad, or holy war, until the West is defeated.
“We say to the servant of the cross (the Pope): wait for defeat. We say to infidels and tyrants: wait for what will afflict you. We continue our jihad,” said the statement attributed to the Mujahideen consultative council.
“We will smash the cross,” it added, and “conquer Rome”.
I'll ask yet again... when will people wake up and realize that this really is a Holy War, a fight for the very survival of Christendom?

Well, so far it HASN'T been a holy war. Secularists versus Infidels. Nuthin holy about that. The Bushies have been making the world safe for Planned Parenthood and People for the American Way and the Playboy Channel and Halliburton and bureacrats and bank presidents everywhere. I want no part of that; I ain't gonna risk my life for that.
But then again, if there's a general Moslem uprising against Holy Mother Church, and this were a REAL crusade, then I'd have to talk to a spiritual advisor about the duties of my station in life, because a real crusade against the Turk has some appeal. It's another matter entirely (although I'd suppose I'd have to get into shape and get some military training. It's been a while since I've handled a rifle).
These are just the opening salvos, Mudgie. Rest assured, this is indeed a Holy War in the very early stages
