The Schism In America
It's already here
Excellent article from The Boston Globe, Should Liberals Leave The Catholic Church?
We could all play the "name the heresy of the week" game. The Holy Mother has already warned us that the destruction of the Church shall come from within. Like my favorite expression goes concerning many within the USCCB goes, "with shepherds like them, who needs wolves?"
But anyhow, back to The Globe article. I especially enjoyed the last few sentences; "The church in Rome thinks in centuries, not in news cycles. It isn't budging. Will liberals in America ever get the message?"
As far as "liberal" Catholics are concerned... we already have a word to describe them. They're called Protestants.

As a former Protestant, I find that very, very funny.
to answer the question in the column's headline: Yes, and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. The cafeteria is closed. When you want to sign on to the entire catechism, you're welcome to come back.
I've always given a measure of credit to the folks at Spiritus Christi in Rochester, NY. They had the honesty to form their own church and do their own thing, instead of sticking around and wreaking havoc within the Catholic Church.
The Church in Rome doesn't just think in Centuries, it thinks for eternity, the salvation of man's eternal soul.
The liberals in the west are only thinking about how to improve their self esteem RIGHT NOW.
Yeah, we've got entirely too many Episcopalians in the Catholic Church, frustrated by the fact that we're not also episcopalians, and doing everything they can think of to try and force us to be.
What can we do to firmly, but charitably, encourage the dissenters to leave?
First, scour the clerical ranks of dissenters by imposing obediences and silence on public dissenters, embrace those who follow the obedience, laicise those who refuse. Those actions will also make lay dissenters indignant and thereby disposed to leave.
Obedience is the bane of modern heretics, and thus will be the wind that shakes out the dead branches.
