Spanish Archbishop Bemoans That The Church Is Looked Upon As "Irrelevant"
40 years late and a billion dollars short
Archbishop Braulio Rodriguez of Valladolid, Spain, said this week Catholics do not know what the Church is and that it was “sad” that many consider it to be an “old and irrelevant structure.”
Ummm... You Excellency, why do you think that so many Catholics look upon The Church that way? The Archbishop stated that the recent analysis of Vatican II was “interesting, clarifying and of great service to the present-day Church.” “Everything depends on the correct interpretation of the Council, the correct key to reading it,” he noted, since “two contrary interpretations have squared off, that of a rupture, on the one hand, and that of a renewal in the continuity of the only Church given by the Lord, on the other.”
Back the truck up... shouldn't this type of pondering have happened... oh, I don't know... FORTY YEARS AGO??!!
I'm not going to point to the examples of "The Spirit of Vatican II" run amok. One only needs to make a quick visit to L.A. Catholic to see that. And that's just the first site that came to mind. I could name the examples all day long of the garbage that has been taking place for decades. But I won't.
I'll just leave it at this; Vatican II kicked the door wide open for anyone and everyone to question everything Catholic. And that's exactly what Catholics have been doing for 40 years. Thanks to Vatican II, The Church has been awash in a Sea of Relativism. And don't let looks fool you. Some of the most conservative looking churches preach the most heretical tripe since the days of martin luther.
While we're at it, just look at our leaders, especially here in America.
Cardinal Law is in hiding in Rome for protecting rapists. Archbishop Weakland paid almost a half a million dollars in hush money to his boyfriend. Bishop Gumbleton rants on more like a member of Comrade Fidel's cabinet than a Catholic bishop. How many diocese have filed for bankrupcy? Need I go on?
And people still don't know why so many Catholics consider The Church irrelevant?

Not to mention the (so far) $1 billion in payouts to victims of non-celibate priests.
