The Times They Are A Changin'
What? There really was a Catholic Church before V2?
Simply excellent article concerning what The Holy Father said recently concerning the possibility of salvation for non-Christians, as well as the heretical belief by certain Protestants that Baptism is all that is required for Salvation.
Theologian Ilaria Morali, a professor of theology at the Gregorian University in Rome, explains the Pope's speech against those who would mis-interpret it.
What was used as source documentation was St. Paul's Second Letter to Timothy; the writings of St. Augustine; and lastly, Pope Pius IX encyclical letter "Quanto Conficiamur Moerore" of 1863.
What I found stunning, is that il professore not once mentioned The Spirit of Vatican II, nor did the good professor ever say "according to the writings of the Second Vatican Council". When was the last time any of us saw something like this come out of Rome?
I, for one, don't think it's by accident that Vatican II was never mentioned. What's Il Papa up to?
Part 2 of this interview will be published sometime soon. I certainly hope that The Prof doesn't let me down.

As a side note: I am hoping that the lightning speed canonization of JPII does not go forward. Lets give it a few hundred years like we did before 1965.
As to John Paul "the Great": I'm not drinking that Kool-aid just yet!
