Ecclesiastical Code Blue!!
SSPX and FSSP to the rest of the Church; "We know CPR!"
And another Hat Tip to Gillibrand
It turns out that Georgetown University has published some rather.... "interesting" numbers, shall we say, concerning the state of Catholicism.
Just look from 1965 to 2005 how bad thing have gotten in America.
Total number of priests has dropped almost a third.
Total number of priestly ordinations has dropped by more than half.
Total number of Graduate level seminarians in the U.S. has dropped nearly two thirds.
I'm sure you get the picture. The numbers world-wide are a mixed bag, but still showing a downward trend.
Now with all that said, look and see how 2 traditionalist Orders are doing;
In 1988, the FSSP started out with less than a dozen priests and only 30 seminarians. In less than 20 years, they now have 200 priests and 120 seminarians. And let's be honest... it's been an uphill fight for the FSSP. Most other priests sneer down their noses at the FSSP.
In 1971 the SSPX had a total of 9 priests and only 15 seminarians. There is now almost 350 priests and over 225 seminarians.
The FSSP may be sneered at, but the SSPX is downright vilified. Few will argue that point. But why is it that these two Orders are flourishing, while everyone else is on life support?
Do we really have to tell the Emperor about his new clothes?

Message to His Holiness Benedict XVI:
Save souls - lift the indult!
The FSSP wanted to open a mission in the DC diocese. The cardinal turned them down flat.
May the Lord bless the FSSP AND the SSPX. Lift the indult NOW! Let ALL Catholic priests be free to choose to celebrate the Mass of Pius V.
