Emperor H. was not prosecuted for war crimes due to political expediency. Then again, I am confident you already know this.
Yep, and the myth of Japanese unconditional surrender continues to this day.
It is probably a bit trite to mention that the terrorists will at least rot in hell for their deeds, regardless of what Obama and his minions will allow them to get away with. It's sort of like reading Revelation and realizing that we DO win in the end, no matter how crappy things get in the meantime.
But it helps me deal with this sort of BS to be reminded once in a while.
That myth was based upon the Potsdam Declaration, but by accepting this condition, perhaps the allies avoided a lot of further bloodshed had their surrender not been achieved. Or perhaps, the occupation would have been a bloody one with out the fiction of the Emperor being in charge even titularly.
Another example of war and politics being inextricably entwined. Yes, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth too, Cavey. This means it is time for more turkey and gravy! LOL
Scene of the crime was the election of Obama. He will have more negative impact on this country for generations than any terrorist could hope to achieve. We of course could add the leaders in congress as well as the committee chairmen. We can survive pearl harbor, we can survive 9/11. But we are still suffering from FDR who started social welfare programs, LBJ who made federal programs an art form, and now Obama who is going to bring both these efforts to new highs of debt and entitlements.
