A man in Saudi Arabia is to be beheaded and crucified after he raped five children and left one of them, a three-year-old boy, to die in the desert. An appeal court in the capital Riyadh approved the death sentence handed down in June by judges in the northwestern oasis city of Hail where the convicted 22-year-old man carried out his crimes.
The rapist - who was not named - was arrested several weeks ago as he tried to seize another boy after offering him a ride home from school.
The seven-year-old - who escaped unharmed - helped identify the culprit. The man’s victims were aged between three and seven. He was said to have lured them into his car as they left school at midday and then drove them to remote desert locations to rape them.

Don't they have this backward? Shouldn't it be crucified and then beheaded?

I guess you never tire of showing your ignorance.
That particular verse pertains thos who literally "live by the sword". You know... bad people.
Not only is there verse after verse stating that it is correct to defend yourself when applicable (both on the spot, judiciously, and in time of war) even if it means the death of the agggressor... but Holy Mother The Church, for 2,000 years, has authorized the death penalty.
BTW, I couldn't help but notice you use the heretical so-called "King James Version". Why am I not suprised?
Granted that, in the case of pedophiles, reform is unlikely, but repentance is possible. And for this reason, I would prefer not to execute a man who can be kept harmless to others.

It is for this reason that I find your satisfaction in the execution of criminals troubling.

Jesus said more stuff about swords, and He spoke well of the Centurion, a man of war, a leader of warriors, constantly in battles killing people. He told St Peter that two swords is sufficient for the Apostles. Similarly, a few good Marines is sufficient force given all the insurgents and hostile realms in this world.
