Just How Far Do The Rubrics Allow?
Interesting comparison

Jon Lukas Rock Mass

5:46 - The Consecration... supposedly.
6:45 - Holy Communion being distributed while this dork drones on.
7:42 - The rockin' version of the Our Father was particularly disingenuous.
17:30 - Introducing his "partner". Especially puke-worthy. In light this is an "HIV Awareness Campaign" event, I don't think the guy is his business partner.

The point here is, the rubrics for the Novus Ordo Missae are so open-ended... so ambiguous, this alleged "Mass" is perfectly fine by Novus Ordo standards.

On the other hand...

Sandals and Fiddlebacks

Yep... sandals are about as outrageous one can get with the Traditional Latin Mass. And the music's a damn sight better.

Guitars are illicit for the Roman Rite, God willing when I become a priest, I will only allow the organ or music a cappella, no guitars, no standing for Communion, none of this liberal un Catholic thinking that's been going on for way too long

Let's see: at 6:45 - Holy Communion being distributed while this dork drones on. Then at
7:42 - The rockin' version of the Our Father either this was edited out of order or???? I don't want to even think.

Actually, the rubrics are quite clear that these things are a no-no. It is worse than that. These whackos frankly don't give a damn about the rubrics, just their own "F*@# U Jesus" agenda. [Sorry about the strong language. Hope it didn't offend your delicate ears Cavey!;) ]

As for the Franciscians, if they are trukly traditional then they definitely would have to wear sandals. & not birkenstocks either.

Guys, they found loopholes. Slim... grasping at straws, for sure. But like I said, they found enough of the ambiguity in the Novus Ordo where they can get away with crap like this.

And besides... even if it were clearly pointed out that they are in violation, they'd just fall back on "community" and "the oneness of the people" garbage.

Yeah, this is an extreme example - but an example nonetheless of hippie wannabe "Masses" that have been going on for 40+ years.

"they'd just fall back on "community" and "the oneness of the people" garbage." Cavey, grazie for the nicer way of saying "their own "F*@# U Jesus" agenda".

Glad it gave you a good laugh. But, I have to be honest, there have been a few times where I have wanted to go up & tell those doing the abuses that I am sick of their "F*@# U Jesus" attitude. Knowing that they wouldn't be receptive to any criticism of their garbage but more importantly, the fact that I would be in church with the tabernacle (or what passes for one) nearby, I didn't feel that using my phrase would be appropriate in the circumstances.

On the other hand, at my home parish, I have told the director of liturgy more than once how certain actions were wrong. (In the parish office building.) & when he laughed I kindly told him that when he died that a part of his punishment would be eternity in hell hearing a recording of me telling him "I told you so!"

Those pushing these abuses will have a lot to answer for if they don't repent. & it won't be pretty.

"...I have told the director of liturgy..."

Yet just another thing that ensures the weakness of the Novus Ordo Missae - the TLM has only one "director of liturgy"... the priest, period.

God save us from the Novus Ordo.
