This post is being removed by the author, due to the detracting manner in which I've voiced my concerns. I do so in full acknowledgement that this is not how to voice concerns over the actions of one of Gods priests, whether the concern is legitimate or not.
God Bless

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!! How can you stand it??????
It ain't easy Adrienne.
NYPD,
I recall being told not all that long ago, that satan would try his best to keep the Faithful from attending the TLM overall, and here in the Wilmington area specifically.
He's going to be in residence for several months? As if things could get worse at that parish. I know its a horrible lack of humility, but if he had said such things while I was in the congregation I would have stood up and accused him of lying to everyone. Anyone in their right mind is probably thinking the same thing anyway...
Have you tried contacting the diocesan bishop in person? I know that is usually difficult to do, but it is worth a shot, at least.
The rosary being idolatrous. I'd be tempted to accuse him of Protestantism, although I suspect he is a Modernist.
I believe it even more now because I'm seeing it VSC.
My thoughts echo what VSC already said above...this heretic is obviously trying to dilute any interest in the TLM by those who have never been to the classic Mass.
Please tell me you have printed out a copy of this post and sent it to the bishop. If you don't, you allow him to claim ignorance like so many of his brethren do and have done thoughout the the county.
"A few weeks back it was running out Hosts, going back to the Tabernacle, scooping out a handful more, leaving the Ciborium behind and administering the rest of Communion from his clenched fist."
That is the Lord of me and the God of me! This is at the very least sacrilege, if not blasphemy!!
Was this priest from DBQ< IA. I know of a couple of them like this.
My deepest sympathy.
PS I thought "encouraging more frequent Communion" was arround long, long before Vatican II. I know of more than 1 saint from centuries past who encouraged it (after proper preperation). & St. Pius X did so as well.
& while the 2nd Eucharistic Prayer does have its roots in the 3rd century, I find it more than a little disingenuous to make the claim he did. Esp since the Byzantine Catholic Liturgy of St. James goes back to the 1st century & has a "eucharistic prayer" (to use his termonology) nothing like it. Could go on but you get the idea of what I think of his claims.
C- Us leaving would have left my son on his own at the Altar, he was serving the Mass. My son also related to us last night that the manner of distributing the Eucharist I described in my post, grabbing a fistful like they were popcorn, is how he normally gives Communion to the Altar Servers and Extraordinary Ministers before distributing to the congregation. I guess most people don't have a problem with this.
A49 and FAB, this will go to the Bishop. While discussing writing him a letter, our son actually volunteered to write one himself. Let him hear from a young man who has expressed a desire to serve in the priesthood what this priest is espousing.
ATI- you would find it just as disturbing hearing the clink-clink-clink of the Conscerated Host being dropped into the Ciborium like quarters from a slot machine.
Al- he mentioned Pius X in his all over the place Homily. I got the feeling to give the impression that he was more Modernist about the Eucharist than we tend to think, but this priest talks in such circles, he is hard to follow.
C,
Fight the good fight. Don't let the poncho ladies and the self-ordained laity try to steer you in the wrong direction.
We know what's right, and we also have the guts to stand up for our convictions.
Expect to be attacked for what you believe in. That's what Christ told us.
VSC,
Your first post could not ring truer. The attacks have already begun as a result of this post. The pawns have been put into play, acting on what is probably their pride for failing to react to what they knew wasn't right. Their fear of personal loss of recognition, position and status makes them sit on their hands and do nothing. Now it is making them strike out against the truth to protect their own reputations.
Can't help but wonder how on earth this man was ordained a priest when he knows nothing about the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
& while the 2nd Eucharistic Prayer does have its roots in the 3rd century,
I seem to recall that EP-II was derived from a EP of St. Hippolytus, a one-time anti-Pope. IMHO, EP-II and St. H.'s own EP are pretty stingy with the sacrificial language that is plenteous in the venerable Roman Canon, and even the eviscerated version called EP-I, and even EP-III. EP-III is supposedly the Readers Digest version of EP-I.
NYPD Green
God bless your son's Christian fortitude (not to mention the fine religious upbringing you and Mrs. NYPD have given hime). Oh, that you would be so blessed as to give the Church a son as a priest!

VERY INTERESTING! A dear departed priest friend also had issue with the 2nd Eucharistic prayer because the Taize group Catholics were using it.
