Ahhh...The Glorious Fruits of Catholic Education in Wilmington, NC...
Yes, I'm ashamed to admit, I'm a bit of a Facebook junkie. The time that I kill at work during downtime is usually filled with trips to 'the Cave', as well as catching up with family and friends on one of the latest cyber-crazes. During one of my latest trips to FB, I discovered a little 'support' group called, "I SURVIVED ST. MARY'S! Thank God! (oops, just broke a commandment.)". Real cute. Not a big surprise though, a bunch of youngsters from my area wanting to compare their experiences in Catholic school to 5 years in the Hanoi Hilton. Nothing majorly offensive, just a wee bit of bad taste, right? Well, I check out the picture section and what do I see... but complete affirmation that Catholic education is a farce in the Cape Fear Deanery.
Yep, that is our Lord and Savior being included in a round of YMCA- proudly posted on this groups discussion page (by the groups 'creator' no less). You can say this is just an example of just a couple of misguided indivuals. But why aren't the 121 other members of this group demanding that this picture be taken down? Poor Catechism maybe? Or just maybe they went to school in an environment that is totally indifferent to Christ's Suffering? The form? The latter? Or just maybe a little bit of both?
