I came across the same photo on Drudge Report....I had no idea he was taking part in a blessing....I thought it just looked that way. He really is an @$$.

I had the same thought. I could almost hear the massed sheep shouting "Sieg Heil" everytime he raised his arm. Will armbands be next?
I always hated that Sieg Heil maneuver at Church where the Assembly blesses somebody--mothers on Mother's Day, fathers of Father's Day, etc. Blessings in general are sacramentals which should only be administered by a priest IMHO. Not even deacons! In the Eastern (Byzantine) Church, deacons are considered ministers and they do NOT give blessings.
