When Priests Were Real Men

Just wondering: How many Novus Ordo priests would have this type of courage today?...Like I said. Just asking.

Seriously, RT, the headline at top says "Priest Martyrs, Mexico" (if my Spanish is not too far off). I think it's during the Mexican Revolution in the 1920s, in which a lot of priests were martyred. I find it particularly moving that this priest is vested for Mass. Alter Christos, indeed.

Speaking of Revolutions, everyone here should read Warran Carrol's book on the Spanish Civil War, The Last Crusade. In it, he describes the many priests and bishops martyred in that conflict as having died with their right arms full of bullet holes. Why? Because they were blessing their executioners as they were fired upon.

That was from the Mexican Civil War of 1926-1929.

Apart from their effective witness by blood to the truths Christianity as taught infallibly by the Catholic Church, the downside is that there were fewer good men--i.e., good priests--from which to select good Catholic bishops.; 9:25 PM
