Another In-Your-Face & Go-To-Hell-Catholic-Church Moment
Brought to you by Bishop Tod "It's A Mortal Sin To Kneel" Brown
A distinctly Protestantesque alleged "Catholic priest" does what he can to feed Moloch.
Here's a bit from The California Catholic Daily; (Emphasis mine)
“Pleased and humbled”
Orange County priest who gave to Obama campaign elevated to rank of monsignor
An Orange County priest who donated to the Obama for President campaign and listed his job as “Roman Catholic priest” and his employer as “Roman Catholic Bishop of Orange” on federal campaign disclosure forms has been elevated to the honorary rank of monsignor.
Fr. Arthur Holquin, pastor of Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano, gave $250 to the Obama campaign on July 7, 2008, according to Federal Election Commission records. Fr. Holquin has been pastor of the San Juan Capistrano Mission for six years and, in May, will celebrate his 35th anniversary as a priest. In respect to 2272 of The Catechism of the Catholic Church (Formal co-operation in an abortion constitutes a grave offence. The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life.), the formal writ hasn't, and may never, be made public... but both Brown and his lackey Holquin know. And so does God.
May God have mercy upon them for the barbaric evil they condone and contribute to.

but he's sooooo nice, and wonderful for the coummunity...
This kind of thing makes me sick, an insult to the face of teaching the Truth, and then this happens. I know a few good priests in the Diocese of Orange who are far more deserving then the altar of Obama supporter.
Is that a legit Roman collar? Is it unique to some order? The guy looks like an Episcopalian.
In some European countries, I believe those collars are worn by Catholic priests. Re: the monsignor bit, someone in Rome has some explaining to do. IIRC, it takes Rome's approval (i.e., Papal authority) to elevate a priest to the rank of monsignor.
The collar is legit, although it does get seen more often on Episcopalians.
I also suspect that no one in Rome was made away of this before the approval was given, otherwise, I suspect he probably would still be Fr. not Mnsr.
Here in th ediocese of Fresno the latest group of Monsignori under bishop John T Steinbock will all be found washigng the feet of women on Holy Thursday. Some of the Fresno group have no proplem with gay or married priests. One in the Fresno group even got spanked from Rome for having a women read the gospel at Mass. All of this awarded by B p. John T. Steinbock, a class mate of Roger Mahoney and Todd Brown...go figure.
One more soul for whom "Bishop" Tod will have to answer. We may be outraged, but not really surprised. Watching these folks march lockstep into hell is really demoralizing, but we can take it as a lesson, I suppose. What do WE do that confers a similar penalty? Maybe that's why He allows it? I don't know, but at least that is a little bit constructive.
Don't be too hard on married priests. There is a pastoral provision after all for the Anglican Use Roman Catholic communities that celebrate a Rome-approved Catholic mass with Anglican elements (from the Book of Common prayer, but originating in the now-defunct Sarum Use of the Roman Rite liturgy) as part of it. Some other married Protestant ministers who "Pope" have also been ordained Catholic priests, the formerly Lutheran, late Fr. John Neuhaus is a prominent example. Also EC parish priests in Europe are customarily married with families (like the Eastern Orthodox).
The issue for me is a priest who is orthodox in the faith and willing to teach/establish such orthodoxy in his parish.
Another legitimate married Catholic priest I can name is Fr. Dwight Longenecker.
