You Knew They'd Eventually Get SOMETHING Right

And I still have a silly question. But I'll ask that at the end of this posting.

Baltimore - Children in the womb will now be able to receive a special blessing from their parish priests following an overwhelming vote by the U.S. bishops in favor of the new blessing.
The prayer for the child in the womb was approved for use in the dioceses of the United States with a 223-1 vote this afternoon at the bishops’ General Assembly in Baltimore. The bishops also approved a Spanish version of the blessing with a 224-0 vote. OK... so why is one bishop is against this in English... but has no problemo with this en Español?

He might have objected to the text as it reads in english. I dunno, maybe it big words or something.
OK... so why is one bishop is against this in English... but has no problemo with this en Español?

In my mind, I can't help but wonder who was the one bishop who voted no on the English version and why.
I don't know the answer but it should be made public. I don't care who the hell it is either. Parishioners need to know.
Just flabergasted. I bet that Bishop would have no problems making a new blessing for people to tithe more in his diocese.

Non capisco!!!!! I wondered the same thing when I 1st read about this.
But what I really don't understand is why they have had a blessing for pregnant women for decades, but are only now deciding to bless the child. I checked out the blessing for pregnant women. It didn't say anything about the child until after he/she was born.
Not quite sure about that Al. I checked out the old Rituale Romanum (1962) on Sancta Missa:

And it had this as part of the blessing of the mother:
"Accept the offering of a humble spirit, and grant the heartfelt desire of your servant, N. who pleads for the safety of the child you allowed her to conceive. Guard the life that is yours; defend it from all the craft and spite of the pitiless foe. Let your gentle hand, like that of a skilled physician, aid her delivery, bringing her offspring safe and sound to the light of day. May her child live to be reborn in holy baptism, and continuing always in your service, be found worthy of attaining everlasting life; through Christ our Lord. "
That seems to be calling down the blessing of the Almighty on the child as well.
Later, on in the ritual:
"May the blessing of almighty God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, come on you and your child, and remain with you forever. "
Maybe this is just a(nother) problem with the Novus Ordo.
