Finally... FINALLY!!!
A sermon about Our Lady of Akita
Helmet tip to my good goomba Al over at Is Anybody There?

I just caught wind that a certain Father Parker of St. Mary's parish in East Dubuque, Iowa just gave one slam-bang good sermon about... you guess it... Our Lady of Akita. And a slamming good sermon it is! Click here to listen to it. Hey, if I can wait for over two hours to download it on my coal-fired computer... you can download it too!

Anyhow, thanks be to God that the word is getting out concerning the Akita warnings. May God bless you, Father Parker. Now if he'd just learn to say the Traditional Latin Mass!

And if Bishop Burbidge happens to be reading this, please know that I can make a quick road trip to Iowa... sneak-up on Fr. Parker... bonk him on the head with my club... spirit him back to the Diocese of Raleigh before he regains consciousness or his bishop even knows he's gone! Hey, I'm just throwin' it out there, Your Excellency.

Cavey, why am I only hearing the first 10 seconds of it? Do I need to do something special on the website?

(Also, are you going to be in Raleigh, by any chance, for the TLM of the Epiphany this Sunday?)

Alli,
It's a REAL slow download. Give it a few minutes (if your on DSL or cable), a couple of hours (if your on dial up).

And no, we won't be making it to the cathedral this Sunday. Probably just going to hit Dunn.

Cavey,

I knew that his homily would warm the cockles of your heart.

BUT, don't even think about coming & taking Fr. Parker. There are too many of us here in the Tri-State area who would get out their torches & pitchforks & go looking for you. & when you were found we would have to give you a little Christian brotherly correction, probably in the form of tar & feathering. :)

Besides, if you came to Iowa looking for Fr. Parker you wouldn't find him. E DBQ is in Illinois. (I can suggest a few priests for you to take here in DBQ, IA but I doubt if you'd want them.)

Fr. Parker has really done a lot over there at St. Mary's. He has ruffled a few feathers (with full support of Bishop Doran) with his faithfulness to the Magesterium & insistance on faithfulness to the rules. He has regular Eucharistic adoration. He has had Eucharistic processions through downtown E DBQ. (You have to know something about the town to appreciate what a miracle that is.)

Attendance at Sunday Mass is up 12.1% over the last year. Granted many of those are people from Iowa & Wisc as well as those from his parish.

& you might like to know that Fr. Parker is working on his Latin so he can start saying the TLM.

As for those trying to listen to the homily, I also don't understand why the long delay in the download. I tried it & didn't have that problem. It started within seconds.

I don't know what to think about Akita. At first it appears genuine, but one of the messages seems contradictory to Sacred Scripture. Take for example the final message from October 13, 1973:

". . . if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will never have seen before."

This seems to contradict what God said in Genesis after the flood:

"Never again will I doom the earth because of man, since the desires of man's heart are evil from the start; nor will I ever again strike down all living beings, as I have done." Genesis 8:21

The last message of Akita seems to indicate that God would go back on his promise by sending an even greater chastisement. Are we to believe that God would break such a promise? Or are we to believe that the deluge of Noah's time was not a worldwide deluge?

Paul,
Please keep in mind that God promised that He wouldn't destroy the earth by flood. What was warned of at Akita was a chastisement... not necessarily a flood. And with the possible Great Chastisment warned of at Akita, there was never a word said of wiping out humanity.

Just some thoughts.
