Enemy combatant, man about town, and all around scumbag, one Majid Khan was the headliner of the following story coming to us from Fox News;
WASHINGTON — An accused enemy combatant held at Guantanamo Bay told a military hearing he was physically as well as mentally tortured there by having to read a newsletter full of 'crap,' being forced to use unscented deodorant and shampoo and having to play sports with a ball that would not bounce.
Majid Khan of Pakistan denied any connection to Al Qaeda and said he was tortured and his family hounded by U.S. authorities, according to a redacted transcript released Tuesday by the Pentagon.
Khan told an April 15 hearing called to determine whether he was rightly classified as an "enemy combatant" that he also had his baby pictures taken from him, that cleaners left marks on his cell walls and that detainees have no DVD players or other entertainment.
Now who in their right mind would want to enter Paradise with stinky pits... other than the French?

I can't believe ANY tribunal is giving this a serious hearing. On the other hand, if this wuss, who obviously couldn't even make it through 72 hours of basic training, is a representative example of our enemy, that ought to be a consolation.

It was only because some Moslems made a stink (hehe) about the lack of foot baths at the Kansas City airport that I even knew they were big into cleanliness (except hands before meals). Shaving and haircuts sure aren't. My experience around them has usually indicated a lack of deodorant or, in some cases, a bath in cologne.

So you guys noticed that too. Interesting. Being a Filipino, I had the impression that we're the only ones complaining of such aspects of Middle Eastern and South Asian life.
I heard a story of a friend of a friend in Dubai who was forced out of an apartment that he shared with some South Asian workers. His companions were so angry at his habitual (read daily) baths and the high water utilities bills that accompanied such a habit. Apparently, said companions only took a bath once or twice a month. Fortunately, he found a place occupied by fellow Filipinos who shared the culture of daily baths.
I hope nobody accuses me of being racist.

Cavey, pursuant to your authority as a military man, how about a follow-up to this post on some of the exercises our boys are routinely put through in basic training that would probably qualify as "torture" under current sissified standards?
If they really wanted to torture the inmates, they's make 'em watch a DVD of Sr. Joan Chittister belly-dancing to Marty Haugen tunes...
Off topic, but I would like to hear what the Cave people think of this Ron Paul. He's a prolife libertarian candidate that got 25% approval ratings in a Fox poll second only to Mitt Romney. He is anti-war though.
