"37 Percent of U.S. Births Out of Wedlock"
...and the Caveman points out the obvious

Almost one out of every four children are born illegitimate. That's right... I said illegitimate. Pardon me for considering Holy Matrimony a Sacrament, and children being the primary fruit of that Sacrament.

But anyhow, I'd like to point out how this bastard child (pun intended) of the so-called Women's Liberation Movement has affected how women (and marriage in general) are looked upon in everyday speech in the good ol' U.S. of A.

1. Say good-bye to "my wife" or "my girl" or even "my sweetie". It's bitch. Ergo, it's acceptable to smack my bitch up when she gets unruly.

2. For those who have even less respect for women than I gave in the first example, there's always the equally acceptable 'ho, bastardized English for whore.

3. And my all time fav; My baby's momma.

Why any self-respecting lady would take any of this crap for even one second is simply beyond me.

Steady, Caveman... you used the phrase "self-respecting". Silly Caveman, why should I have even the slightest expectation that ladies demand that they be treated like... well... ladies, or demand respect be paid to their womanhood?

After all, since the 60's, American women have been force-fed a steady diet of "equality" which in reality, means "abandon your femininity".

It's Politically Incorrect for me to hold a door open for a lady; stand when a lady comes to the table; say "ma'am"; help a lady carry her groceries; marry her before I impregnate her, defend the honor of; basically place women in general up on a pedestal, etc.

Years ago when I was just a wee Caveboy, I asked my very ladylike Cavemom if she believed that women should be "equal" to men. She gave a response that I'll never forget... "Of course not! Why should I step down?"

A related topic on respect and lessons learned from my Cavemom:

Boys don't hit girls.

If mothers, and fathers, don't teach that to their children, is it any wonder the cycle continues.

Before my daughters ever got near dating age, I told them if a guy ever hit them, get out of the relationship right then. If he hit you once, he'll hit you again. No amount of love or affection is worth staying in such a relationship.

The epidemic of demomestic violence in this country is just further fruit of the feminist movement. Yes, that's right. When women demanded men treat them equally instead of keeping them on a pedestal, many men started treating them (of course they were WRONG) like they treat another guy.

Ha, it's funny you should post this tonight, Mr. Caveman, because my godson, who is an illegitimate child, was born this morning. I am jazzed to say the least, but it's very disappointing that my friend didn't wait until she and her boyfriend were married. Sigh.

By the way, if you know any young gentlemen (between the ages of 20-25, to be specific) who are looking for a nice Catholic girlfriend, you might want to point them to my blog. I'm sick of being treated like another dude.

Too bad you are in Cali, too far away. I would treat you like a lady!

I'm not sure what the saddest part of this whole downward spiral is. Maybe it's that no matter how much a lady insists on being treated right by the man in her life, men on the street still think they have full rights to her attentions. I know single women who won't go out without a ring on their left ring finger, because that's the only thing that keeps the creeps at bay - thinking she's another man's 'turf'. Equality, my foot - we've become property.

Mrs. Angry Ortho says "Why would I want to be treated like a man when I can be treated better?" Even she's noticed that men treat each other like NO neo-caths treat the Divine Liturgy.

I will never understand why some people seem to think "equal" means "identical"...

Vir, I'm with the Cavemom: there's no such thing as sexual equality... women are better!

Personally I love it when a guy holds open a door, or gives up his seat... not so sure about the "ma'am" (though I have no objection to "Miss"!!) But it works two ways: women have to be courteous as well - how many of us say "thank you" when a door is held open? And perhaps women have to take responsibility for teaching their sons manners too.
