This Is Just Too Damn(nable) Much For Me To Take
"The Lord is already much offended"
In what is being reported as a "concert Mass" and a "performance", the Archdiocese of Milwaukee has gone just too damn far.
To commemorate the September 11th attacks, the Archdiocese sponsored some sort of ecumenical bastardization of a Mass. Complete with secular readings, secular music, readings from the heretical koran and pagan Hindu texts... all while using portions of the Traditional Latin Mass.
Oh, and before I forget... during this performance mass, a moslem soloist screeched out the heretical 'Call to Prayer' singing Lord grant us strength to die!
Charming... utterly charming.

Wow...if you had not identified it as Milwaukee, I would have sworn this was some kind of Mahony heresy in LA!
This wasn't a liturgy, but strictly and solely a concert performance. It would be like a symphony orchestra performing a Mass by Bach or Leonard Bernstein.
That being said, I wish they would have found another venue for the concert...
Dave, I have no reasonnot to believe you. All I had to go off of is what was reported, specificaly, The concert Mass, which involves the Latin Mass and secular texts
The report you read was unclear--but that's to be expected with some of the reporters in Milwaukee.
All of the principals: the Rector of the Cathedral, the Chorus director, and the Orchestra director, are (to put it gently) termites in the Church here.
All have been placed on a priority listing by the local Tomas deTorquemada Gentlemen's Society. This ensures that we will not run out of firewood before these individuals are toasted.
Dave appears to be correct: link
That doesn't excuse it, but it was not an actual Mass. It was a concert piece. Judging by the review, it was extremely bad art too. The "Latin Mass" are those parts which comprise the Ordinary of the Tridentine Rite.
As far as I can tell from my research, there was no priest present, no attempt to confect the sacrament, etc.
Still, while that's a small relief, I too echo Dave's assertion that it would have been better to choose another venue. Afterall, the fact that some people thought it was a real Mass is proof that it caused grave scandal (although I am no expert in canonical matters; Perhaps Dr. Peters might know more). And to have a Muslim man initiate the Muslim Call to Prayer in a Church deeply disturbs me.
Thanks for the clarifications, guys.
I've changes the words from all during a Latin Mass to all while using portions of the Traditional Latin Mass.
It's still anough to make even a nominal Catholic puke. What the hell was Bishop Dolan thinking!? This is too big for me to think that this is simply 'one that slipped through the cracks'
To be fair and charitable to Abp. Dolan; it could be. We don't know how it was sold to his Excellency. The only "archdiocesan" support I could see, from the article, was that the archdiocesan choir took part. The choir could have sold it to the authorities as being simply a concert mass a la Mozart, and that might have been the extent of the information they received. Until his Excellency says otherwise, we won't know how much knowledge he had.
As an aside ... alas, but the Tomas de Torquemada society has far too many cases in recent years. *sighs*

It was written up in the Archdiocese website, and I believe it also took place in the cathedral. How could the archbishop NOT have known?
I'll back Dolan on this one, he essientially has to play a game of "whack a mole" with all the non-sense in his diocese. This is a Herculean labor and slowly but surely he is turning the tide, still stuff like this does slip threw the cracks.
Dad29, as a Wisconsinite how can I get invovled in our local chapter of, Tomas deTorquemada Gentlemen's Society, I am ready and willing to split logs for firewood. haha
