NBC Actor Refers To Troops As '19 And 20-Year-Old Kids Who Couldn't Get A Job'
"I know more about war than troops" ~ Richard Belzer
Yep... you read it correctly. In an exchange with Florida Congresswoman Ileanna Ros-Lehtinen on the HBO program "Real Time with Bill Maher" (big shocker there, huh?) Law & Order's Richard Belzer claims that he knows more about war than the troops that have a combat tour already under their belt.
Interesting, a second rate actor and third rate comedian (who by the way, never spent one day of his life in uniform, and needless to say, he's sans a combat tour) has the gall to say what he said.
I tell ya what Belzer, instead of mouthing off to a Congresswoman in a TV studio where not only the host but the audience is nothing but flaming liberals, try spouting your bullshit to a 19 year old Marine Infantryman who just came home from a combat tour in either Iraq or Afghanistan.
I'd pay good money to watch that young Marine kick your ass up and down the street. But for some strange reason, I don't see Belzer doing that. Pukes like him would rather verbally beat up on women. What a maggot.

I always liked his character on "Homicide" and "Law & Order: SVU", but know I know he is your typical mindless, anti-America, anti-military, Hollywood liberal.
During my years in the USMC infantry, I can't remember a finer, more honorable group of men then those 18 to 19 year Marines.
The saddest thing about this post is that that clown actually believes his own crap...and so do millions of other mindless Americans.
'19 And 20-Year-Old Kids Who Couldn't Get A Job'
And the whack jobs in Hollywood are ADULTS who can't get JOBS! They can only be somebody else.
The military duty IS a JOB, it's a CAREER, it's a nobility, above all it's a SACRIFICE.
Thanks to all the military forces past and present!
This is a problem in our culture, celebrities seem to have a more important and valid opinion than you or me. I would love to go head-to-head with this clown. Angry anti-Americans in Hollyweird need to find another country to ruin.

I just explained to a Bulgarian student today that there are Americans who are EMBARRASSED to be American. (This after an American student mocked her for "wanting to look like a stupid American tourist" because she wants some T-shirts to take home with her.) She was a little shocked because she, of course, is proud to be Bulgarian. Her country also just decided to continue their presence in Iraq, but luckily her fellow students are too ignorant to realize that it's not just Americans over there.
Confessionator,
Thanks for supporting our troops, but, sorry, I have to disagree with you that the reason most men enter the military is because they're poor and lack opportunites. Certainly there are a great number that do. However, look at all the Reserves and National Guard that are in Iraq. Most of these are small businessmen or hold some kind of job which they left to serve their country. Many are college educated. Where I work, at least a dozen Marine Reserves officers were called up (all with college degrees) and, as you may not know, someone can't be an officer in the Marine Reserves without first having been a regular Marine officer. The point being they were neither poor nor lacking opportunities.
yes, the majority of men who enter the armed forces do so because they are poor and lack opportunities.
Confessionator, I must ask... who gave you that information? I most certainly is incorrect. Personally, I come from a middle-class suburban home, and I joined the Marine Corps because *gasp* I wanted to serve my country.
I can't speak for the other branches of the Armed Forces, but the demographics for the Marines are roughly the same for the nation overall.
Some are dirt poor... some are from very well to do families. The vast majority falls someplace inbetween the two.
And I'm not trying to be sarcastic, Confessionator... but do you know anyone in the Armed Forces?
yes, the majority of men who enter the armed forces do so because they are poor and lack opportunities. So why would a hollywood liberal have a problem with a government organization that actually HELPS young men find careers and get an education?
Because the military is the antithesis of what liberals value, and since it doesn't create a cycle of dependency and entitlement (like many liberal social programs), it's not good. And if you're not poor, you're simply a burgeois pig Republican war-monger.
There is no respect for our troops from the left, no matter how much they whine "Support the troops, not the war".
I vote we drop Belzer in the middle of Baghdad and then we'll see who knows more about war.
I Joined to serve my country and to help pay for my education. I come from the upper middle class. I would be proud to have my children serve if they wished.
