Catholicam Speluncam Masculum,

How about:

Where did Sean tell Michael he was from (American city)?

How tall did Sean say he was? Hint: it was John Wayne's true height.

Where did Sean's parents die (2 answers, one for each parent)?

What color did Sean paint his cottage (mentioned by Mrs. Playfair)?

What did Sean plant at the cottage?

What was the name of the boxer that Sean killed in the ring?

How much money did Mr. Playfair win from the Bishop after the fight?

What was Will Danaher's nickname?

I could go on and on . . .

Inishfree is also mentioned in another great John Wayne movie: "Donovan's Reef".

It's the name of one of the ships that Donovan owns.

CSM,

The story goes like this:

When Wayne (then Marion Morrison, but known as Duke) was playing football for USC, the football team was invited by the silent film actor Tom Mix to work on his lot doing various tasks.

On the first day they were to go, the football team was lining up to get into the bus, when up walks Ward Bond, a fellow USCer, but not a football player, and he gets in line.

Wayne, who was in charge of getting the trip organized, says to Bond, "What are you doing?"

Bond replies, "I'm going."

Wayne: "You can't, you're not on the football team."

Bond: "I'M GOING!"

Wayne: "Yeah??"

Bond: "YEAH!"

They get into a fight, right there on the sidewalk.

But because there's no clear winner, Wayne, good-natured guy that he was, let Bond go on the trip.

They were friends for the rest of their lives, appearing in movie after movie, and Wayne even making an appearance on Bond's "Wagon Train" television show soon before Bond died in 1961.
