Something Extraordinary Happened This Week
And none of the newspapers covered the story
This past week, thousands of young America boys became men. Most went through either Parris Island, SC, or San Diego, CA. A few went through Quantico, VA. What they all have in common is that they are ALL Marines.
Most of them are seventeen, eighteen, nineteen years old. A few are in their very early twenties. Most will be on Active Duty... a few will be Reservists. Most will be in support roles... a few will be real live gunslingers. What they all have in common is that they are ALL Marines.
Most are White. Many are Black. Many are Latino. What they all have in common is that they are ALL Marines.
Every one of them know that this time next year, many of them will be combat veterans. And those that aren't, soon will be. What they all have in common is that they are ALL Marines.
The vast majority have already voted at least once. Many are already married. Almost all own cars. This time next year, some will be considered combat heroes, some will be dead. What they all have in common is that when every single one of them signed the papers committing them to the Corps, none of them were "mature" enough to legally drink a beer.... and most of them still can't legally buy one, lousy beer.

1 Comments:
For all those who have earned the Eagle, Globe & Anchor, God bless each and every one of them. For those young men still thinking about it: Get off your dead ass, go down to the local recruiter, and sign-up.
To paraphrase Patton: If our nation ceases to have young men willing to step up to the plate and stand guard on the wall, then we are doomed to be overrun, our men killed, our women taken, and a stronger breed of warriors will be born.
Semper Fi!
