First Congressman John Murtha stated that he wouldn't serve in the Armed Forces present day;
A decorated Vietnam combat veteran who retired as a colonel after 37 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, Murtha told ABC News' "Nightline" program that Iraq "absolutely" was a wrong war for President George W. Bush to have launched.
"Would you join (the military) today?," he was asked in an interview taped on Friday.
"No," replied Murtha of Pennsylvania, the top Democrat on the House of Representatives subcommittee that oversees defense spending and one of his party's leading spokesmen on military issues.
"And I think you're saying the average guy out there who's considering recruitment is justified in saying 'I don't want to serve'," the interviewer continued.
"Exactly right," said Murtha.
I wonder if Murtha, a Korea and Vietnam vet, considered Truman and Johnson "absolutely" wrong for sending American boys to fight and die in those particular wars. If Murtha has said such.... I sure haven't hear about it. But I have a funny feeling that we won't ever hear Murtha say anything of the sort. After all, do you know how many votes a chest full of medals will pull in?
And I don't want to hear all that bullshit about how Murtha is a retired Colonel. Bravo Foxtrot Delta. In faraway lands are more than a few scared shitless 18 year old kids who had the 'nads to join up... and what do they read in Stars And Stripes? All sorts of wonderful news from this retired Colonel alluding that they are somehow suckers for joining up.
Hell, I had to endure years and years of that dumb son-of-a-bitch Bill Clinton. But I NEVER told a young man NOT to join because I considered the current Commander in Chief in error. Hell... serving in the Armed Forces is a damn near a religious vocation!
Now this little gem;
Al Qaeda's No. 2, Ayman al-Zawahiri, said in a videotape aired Friday that the United States' recent decision to withdraw some troops from Iraq represented "the victory of Islam."
Now al-Zawahiri could be echoing the drivel that we've been hearing from gutless maggots like Teddy "Fat-Ass" Kennedy, Nancy "Cut And Run" Pelosi, or John "You Rang" Kerry constantly screaming for a cowardly and quite honestly, a flat out appeasement driven foreign policy... but Jack Murtha?
Congressman Murtha, you aided the #2 scumbag at al-Qaeda in launching a propaganda offensive against out boys in harm's way.
Congressman Murtha, you have demoralized the troops on the field of battle.
Congressman Murtha, you have embolden Islamo-Fascists to attack our boys with an even greater enthusiasm than they already have.
Congressman Murtha, American boys are going to die because of your damned big mouth.
Congressman Murtha, shut the hell up.

Way, way, back in the day, I served briefly - but proudly - in UIncle Sam's Army.
My father was one of Darby's Rangers in WWII. Saw three invasions (Normandy, Anzio, and Sicily) na dfinished up with two silver and three bronze.
My maternal grandfather was in teh White Russian army and had a visceral hatred of Communism until his dying day. Oh, yeah, and his son was a cartographer for the US Army who was shot down during the Bay of Pigs and has horrific scars all over his body, for which the Army still insists that he offer the explanation that they were caused by "an unfortunate Jeep accident in Texas."
