Civics Stupid
Fall of the Roman Umpire
Poor America. Land of the Freebies, Home of the Knave. Pretty pathetic article from AmericanCivilLiteracy.org
Here's some of it;
• Fewer than half of all Americans can name all three branches of government, a minimal requirement for understanding America’s constitutional system.
• Only 24% of college graduates know the First Amendment prohibits establishing an official religion for the United States.
• Only 54% can correctly identify a basic description of the free enterprise system, in which all Americans participate.
• Thirty percent of elected officials do not know that “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” are the inalienable rights referred to in the Declaration of Independence.

But on the positive side, Caveman, all your readers are GENIUSES!!
Of course we are. (ahem)
& I am willing to bet that of the younger people who knew the correct answers most of them were homeschooled. & most of the elected officials who knew the quote were Republicans.
I do have a question for Heather: Are you saying we are geniuses
1) because we read this blog,
or
2) because we are geniuses we naturally gravitate to this blog
or
3)(I doubt this is true but must mention to be fair & balanced) that because the average person is so dumb we appear to be geniuses in comparrison.
My vote is for the 2nd of the 3 options.
I read the blog because I am a genius . . . being one complements my natural humility . . . . *big grin* . . . Ugh! back to the confessional! LOL
Remember that half the population of the Unites States is below average in intelligence. Read The Bell Curve or my upcoming penetrating and exhaustive analysis if same.
I'd agree with your assessment, Al, that because we're geniuses, we gravitate toward this blog.
I have certain blogs and news sites that I read and I'm used to a certain level of discourse. You go to places like YouTube or any of the MSM sites and the comments sound like they were written by Cro Magnons.
We incidentally started home-schooling our boys this year after a couple of run-ins with the old "zero-tolerance policies." I wish we had never sent them to school in the first place.
Dear Heather,
YOU DA MAN!!!
