A NEW TRADITIONAL CATHOLIC BLOG!
I’d like to take a few minutes and thank my good Marine Corps buddy, Cavey, for allowing me to post to his great blog site, and to brag a bit about a new Catholic blog that went up last week. That’s right…it’s mine. But folks, it will NEVER compete with Cavey’s or anyone else’s. It’s just mine, for better or worse.
It is the blog site of a convert from Anglicanism and into the One, True Church…the Church of the Old Mass, and of Tradition.
Feel free to give it a good look. But keep in mind that it is a continuing “work in progress” that has a few million miles to go!
One of the areas I’m continuing to work on is the side bar “My List of Real Heroes.” It is ever expanding as I find the time to write. Most (but not all) of the individuals are “linked.” For most of my Catholic heroes, they are linked to the great Catholic Encyclopedia of 1914, found at the New Advent website. For the others, I’ve used Wikipedia. However, keep in mind that Wikipedia is written by anyone, and may not always be accurate. Additionally, my heroes may not be yours for a variety of reasons. Fair enough. But it’s my bit of Internet heaven, so there you go.
I’m also updating my favorite blog sites and websites. Any help (suggestions) with these from the Cave Dwellers would be much appreciated.
Lastly, I will try to update this on a daily basis on whatever interests me that day. But it will usually be something about Traditional Catholicism, the nuttiness of the Novus Ordo, the U.S. Military, gun rights, the war with Islam, or Conservative politics.

Hope you folks enjoy this very amateur effort of mine. http://fidelismilesmilitis.blogspot.com/

And I'm proud to say that I'm the first one to sign up as a 'follower'!
Who's next?
PreVat2! PreVat2! PreVat2!
And just when I thought there wasn't enough to read!
This will help me avoid reading Fox News over and over and over and over.
And I'll even learn good stuff.
What about adding Generals Stonewall Jackson and Robert E Lee? I just read an account of the character of each of these great men. Jackson is considered by some, and this I never before heard, to be the greatest general in history, and had he not died before Gettysberg the War likely would have gone to the Confederacy (although I don't see how).
JLS,
Agree re: Ge. Jackson. However (although I am a Longstreet fan), I remain uncomfortable with the whole idea of professional officers, having taken an oath to defend the Constitution, then siding with the CSA.
Still haven't thought it all through...but you make some fine suggestions! Thanks.
PreVat2,
I've only recently been introduced to some of this history, and am at the curiosity stage.
I'd wonder if the reasoning had to do with defending the Tenth Amendment, ie states' rights.
Perhaps Lee believed that Lincoln violated the Constitution, and he defended it.
Was it FDR who "nationalized" the state militias?
I may have a knowledgeable resource to go to; if so, I'll post the results. No doubt also that I'll receive a stern lecture and a boxing of the ears while I await delivery of the reply ... something about messengers that some of my friends don't seem to get ...
Thanks Cavey! Council 9001 will feature him on our blog as well (http://kofc9001dunn-nc.blogspot.com/) and as always we commend you on your support of the Traditional Mass. Keep up the good work. You truly display the character of a Catholic Knight.
PreVat2
I went ahead and checked: Lee and Jackson resigned their commissions, thus relieving them of their oaths. Different system then than today.
They believed that the federal government was violating the Constitution, and it seems as it was indeed doing so. But this point may not hold up, since the alleged violation was not dealt with by the Senate or Supreme Court, as far as I know.
