Is Reform Of The Reform Missing The Boat?
If there's going to be 'reform', let's get serious about it
Yet another article about liturgical corrections from the 3 Ring Circuses many of us have been subjected to. Yes, corrections are sorely needed, I'm certainly not going to argue about that.
But if there's going to be real reform, is excommunicating a self-proclaimed "radical lesbian feminist" (who was a professor at the allegedly-Catholic Boston College) asking too much? Obviously, it is.
But then again, one of the premier baby-murderers in this country gets a Catholic funeral, replete with a Prince of the Church 'presiding'. Oh, and at the same allegedly Catholic funeral, the Abortionist in Chief said the eulogy.
In it's current state, 'reform of the reform' is simply a toothless dog. And the laity knows it.

The Reform of the Reform folks start from a flawed premise: the reform was hijacked after VCII by modernists and radicals. In truth, the whole 20th century liturgical movement was radical and modernist, and Sacrosanctum Concilium of VCII was penned by the most radical modernist/liberal of them all (Bugnini).
I liked what Marini said at the Year for Priests Conference, and I blogged about it, but if this pontificate is to stay true to its own liturgical principles ("there can be no participation without adoration") then it needs to steer a course for the Church that will eventually lead to the abrogation of the novus ordo and a repudiation of the liturgical movement's notion of "liturgical piety".
David,
Possibly a more correct slogan for this should be Reform of the Deformed.
Vir,
The entire publication of Marini's is over at NLM. I read it and shrugged. It will be ignored in this country by the majority of bishops and priests.
I quit fighting this fight and have just moved on. As you know, we either attend the NO Mass in a small chapel with no choir (will NOT tolerate Haugen/Haas), or we go to the FSSP chapel.
It is a hard time to be Catholic IMHO
Vir,
Christians in Malaysia are being attacked and churches burnt by Allah's terrorist. The reason is becasue he Christians are using the word Allah to refer to the muslim deity. Allah's followers dont want anyone other than themselves to use the word Allah. I think we need to teach em a lesson and refer to their relion as Allahism and refer to the followers as Allah's followers. i have a much worse word in mind , its a prison slang for buggery. Can we establish some new words to deal with Allahs jihadist and fanatical followers.
Even if you could take the stink off s*** (and I doubt you can), it is still s***.
I do have a video posted on my blog, whereby The Ordinary Rite of Mass is taken from Protestant Sources:
I ask the question as to WHAT Bugnini was thinking.
If it was not for the Gold Plated Tabernacle at The Centre & the Singing of The Kyrie in Greek, Agnus Dei in Latin, The Communion Antiphon being chanted in Latin(Gregorian Chant-Plainsong) & the Occasional Chant of Sanctus in Latin, The Mass would look Quasi-Anglican in form. The Hymns sung are stately & NO "Haugen-Haas" Material is ever sung in this Midtown Catholic Parish on East 43rd Street. There is even the Option of kneeling at the Altar Rail in the Ordinary Rite as Option, as well as queueing. It should be noted that in this RC Parish that The Traditional Latin Mass of The Roman Missal of 1962, is offered on Sunday at 11AM & is partially reflected in the Ordinary Rite.
"I ask the question as to WHAT Bugnini was thinking."
Bugnini made it very clear. He wanted to eliminate all stumbling blocks to protestants in the Mass. That means watering it down and changing it to be protestant friendly as much as the Pope allowed him to, which in some cases he didn't let him go as far as he wanted.
