And The Mormon Outrage Over Harry Reid Is...
Where, exactly?
WARNING! Harsh Language Alert.
I've made no bones about it - I believe that most of the Catholic bishops here in America are at best, political animals. At worst, moral cowards who are paving the road to hell for more than a few souls.
And to be sure, every so often we have the likes of an Archbishop Burke, Archbishop Naumann or a Bishop Tobin... but for the most part, bet on a milquetoast spiritual descendant of Judas Iscariot to be in residence of your local Chancery.
Anyhow, I've been wondering where the Mormons are when it comes to one of their own being part of the Unholy Trinity of the Democratic Party. Oh, I'm sure that there plenty of Mormons that are as disgusted with Reid as I and many of my traditionally-minded fellow Catholics are when it comes to the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, the entire Kennedy clan, etc.
But at least we have some (not many) of our shepherds that have had the guts to take a stand against the flat-out evil that permeates what the Democrats espouse.
So where the hell are the honchos of Mormonism when it comes to Reid? I've only heard two things -- 'Jack' and 'shit'. And Jack just left town.
About the closest I've come to anything even close to "official" is this bit of gutlessness from The Mormon Times;
I was saddened by recent posts calling Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's church membership into question. That's it? Could it be that the reason the Mormon big-shots won't say a damn thing critical of Harry Reid is because Harry Reid is very, very powerful? And they consider it very nice to have a Mormon in such a very, very powerful position.
Where, exactly?

Hi, Caveman,
Your best posts are the ones that have the harsh language alert. Describing the idiocies and deviltry of today needs harsh language. Thanks!
Political animals AND moral cowards.
Mitt Romney, the former Governor of the People's Republic of Mass., is a prominent Mormon who is the scion of a distinguished political family as son of the beloved former Gov. George Romney (MI). I know many did not believe he was sincere in his turnaround on abortion (i.e., becoming an opponent, but he was an able businessman prior to his political life. Consequently, I tended to favor him when he was seeking the nomination as the Repblican candidate for President.
Mitt sure makes Harry Reid seem even worse than he really is, if that is possible.
Living in the heart of Mormondom, I have noticed the same thing as have several Mormon acquaintances.
The buying and selling of souls is has to do with one's own allegiance. Those related to God do not trade in souls.
I am a Mormon who thinks Harry Reid can't be a good Mormon and support what he does. On the other hand, he has done nothing against the LDS Church's teachings worthy of excommunication; no matter how much I would like to see him denounced.
Since you write this post in relation to abortion, officially support of abortion legislation is not a Church offense. The official position is only the actions of abortion are worthy of denouncement; although the life of a mother or other circumstances might limit any sensor. There are more liberal Mormons who think that Glen Beck should also be kicked out of the LDS Church for his harsh criticisms. I don't believe even as a conservative that the LDS Church should be acting as a political guardian.
JB,
After reading your post, I can't help but get the impression thast Herod would have no problems with the official teachings of your denomination.
"I can't help but get the impression thast Herod"
What is that supposed to mean?
Jettboy, how does it reconcile with the story of the Good Samaritan for an LDS politician to advocate, encourage, vote for pro-abortion legislation? How does it reconcile with "Am I my brother's keeper"? Common sense ought to tell us that being against bank robbery means not only your own bank but all banks. How does your position reflect Jesus' lesson that one is obligated by neighborly love to help pull his neighbor's ox out of a pit? Or do you take these Scriptures so literally that they only apply to oxen, people's genetic brothers, only banks owned by your next door neighbor, and merchants who ride around on donkeys? Have you ever heard of the Golden Rule? How far would you go to prevent your own mother in law from having an abortion? Or do laws have no concern for actual people that you know? Are people who have abortions bad people and not worthy of protection, and the same with the babies who are aborted? Where are you when it comes to laying down your life for those being butchered in the nearest abortuary? Do you know if Sen Reid can spell the word "hypocrite"? Jett Boy, are you perceiving a gap between the teachings your refer to and those well known that I have referred to? Have you ever considered reading what the Catholic Church teaches, has always taught, and has never changed in twothousand years? A Church with more martyrs, saints, and heroes and heroines than the mind can count? What is more important, family ties or God? Is God in the air, in your prayers, in your good fortune, in those who succeed big time? Where exactly is God, and how do you know He is there? Is He in your blessings but not in the blessings of someone who is poor or in trouble? Has God abandoned politics, abandoned us to the fate of politics, abandoned us all to our sentiments so that we can believe what we want and not have to put the pedal to the metal? What did God say to Cain after Cain murdered his brother? Did He say as long as you believe in me you can do whatever you want without breaking the rules written on your heart? Jett Boy, do you ever see the problem with religion as a sentiment not applicable in public life?
Jettboy,
You've already answered your own question -- "he has done nothing against the LDS Church's teachings worthy of excommunication"
Make no mistake about it--the Mormons are NOT pro-life.
Although they are quick to say they "denounce" abortion, they allow it for rape, incest, life of the mother, "health" of the mother, and deformity of the child. The very same exceptions liberals insist upon in any legislation.
And if a Mormon woman wants to get an abortion, she need only pray to God for guidance, and if He sends her a "sign" that's it's OK by Him, well, then it's permissible.
Makes you wonder how exactly they define the word "denounce"?????
(Don't believe me? Look up the teachings of their last "prophet" Gordon Hinckley from October 1998).
