The Silence From Rome Is Deafening
The time is NOW!
This guy is by definition, a liberal American Episcopalian. If this ... "individual"... so desires to be a liberal American Episcopalian, great. Cross the Thames, catch a flight out of Dublin International straight to Sham Francisco, from there, have a ball. Heresy it up, baby.
In the meantime, do us all a favor and at least make your schism formal. You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here. Even better - Rome can actually do something about this de facto heretic.
Here's the article from Ireland On Line; (Emphasis and comments mine)
Bishop questions ban on women priests
14/11/2009 - 09:21:48
Bishop of Killaloe Willie Walsh has questioned the right of women to be ordained - challenging the papal ban. (No, it's not a Papal ban. It's a Jesus ban. If Christ would have wanted women priests, He would have ordained women priests. But He didn't. Must be that whole The Church is their bride thingee. After all, women can't have a bride, right?)
Bishop Walsh - who'll celebrate 50 years as a bishop this year - expressed sadness at the Church's exclusion of homosexuals and divorcees. (More red flags here than a May Day parade in Moscow. BTW, The Church does NOT "exclude" homosexuals or divorcees. The Church DOES make very clear what their status is. Hell, this is basic Catholicism 101 here.)
He also challenged a lesser Vatican rule which refuses the Eucharist to Protestants. (A "lesser" Vatican rule? The Eucharist is central to Catholicism. And do I really have to revisit the Protestant denial of The Real Presence, again? But I digress, this is Catholicism 101 here. What child wrote this alleged news article?)
Bishop Walsh was addressing the Association of European Journalists in Dublin last night where he said Ireland's Catholic bishops 'owe a debt of gratitude to journalists for investigating and exposing' the abuse scandals highlighted in the Ryan report. (Noooooo.... maybe if many of your ilk would have kept active homosexuals from being ordained, and then if many of your same ilk wouldn't have covered-up the same scandal, then there would have been no need for investigative reporting. Basically, if many of you bishops would have just been honest and shown just a modicum of integrity, none of this would have happened to begin with. But no... You and yours are too stupid to realize that with active homosexual predators comes homosexual rape. But for whatever bizarre reason, this is the fault of the Catholic Church, and not you evil men within the Catholic Church.) St. Charles Borromeo, pray for us.

For a minute there, I thought you had posted a picture of Andy Rooney in his Halloween Costume. HA!
So this "wolf among the shepherds" does not obey JP-II's Apostolic letter, Ordinatio Sacerdotalis, which states that the Church's position regarding ordination of men only is to be "definitively held by all the faithful?"
So the not-so-good bishop is not faithful?
Geez Louise! It's no wonder the Faith is taking a beating in Ireland with crappy bishops like this!
One more thing:
Bishop Walsh - who'll celebrate 50 years as a bishop this year - expressed sadness at the Church's exclusion of homosexuals and divorcees.
50 years as a bishop? I don't think so. Perhaps the journalist meant 50 years in Holy Orders or as a cleric (priest & bishop). At least (hopefully) his opinion will die when he dies and goes before the Particular Judgment.
Why does this bishop now waste his breath asking for the ordaining of women? For very soon he will be able to ask Jesus face to face.
See that statue of Our Lady in the background. Look closely. She is weeping.
