Does The Editor Of NC Catholics Even Read What The Pope Says?
I have to wonder...

I just did a posting concerning the call from The Holy Father warning of the continued degredation of our Holy Priesthood. Or as The Holy Father himself says;
"it is important to avoid the secularization of clergy and the 'clericalization' of the laity."Pretty simple, pretty basic stuff here, no? One would think. Until I read the latest from the diocesan magazine, NC Catholics.

On page 7, I see three different articles. One (and of complete indifference to me) was wrapped up in the usual drivel about how St. Francis was really a hippie, as well as the latest in men's wear as modeled by some nun(?) who appearantly knew him.

The main article on this page was one entitled "Weekend Recognizes Importance of Lay Ministry". All 440 words of it.

Below it, was the third article in question entitled "Mass in the Extraordinary Form Offered at St. Mary, Wilmington". All 221 words of it.

Personally, I don't think it was by accident that the Traditional Latin Mass article was at the bottom of the page, and that the photo of the Lay "Gee, Aren't We Great?" Ministry article was twice the size as the photo on the TLM article.

The message sent was about as subtle as a cop looking over your shoulder at Mass just waiting to arrest you.

The photo is not even a picture of the Mass in St. Mary's. If I am not mistaken, that's a photo of the right priest but the wrong Mass. Looks like a thumbnail of "the Dunn Parish" to me.

It's St. Mary's...I'd recognize those kneelers anywhere!

That was a NUN? I thought it was a receptionist. And that poster of planet earth? Shouldn't there be a Crucifix on the wall?

This is my first post on your blog. If everyone would go to the Latin Mass, we could ALL worship God together. We wouldn't have to have division along racial lines.

Good one, Vir, but surely as terrible as things are going in this county, we're a long way from police at church. However, when that day comes, rejoice!

"Happy are you when people abuse you and persecute you and speak all kinds of calumny against you on My account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven; this is how they persecuted the prophets before you." (Matt. 5:11-12)

"Lay ministry" is a pet peeve of mine. It seems to me that men in holy orders have ministries. The laity have apostolates. Another blurring of the lines.

As for St. Francis: Sheesh, didn't you ever see Brother Sun, Sister Moon? Until I saw that, I never know St. Francis was a hippie who traveled the countryside singing Donovan songs.

We just got our monthly issue of the Idaho Catholic Register with an article by one of our socialist priests. In it he made fun of the TLM, EWTN, the people that attend a TLM, and on and on. My blood was boiling by the time I finished it. He said the folks at the Latin Mass on EWTN had "glazed" eyes.

A few months ago he wrote an article in defense of Palestine and called Israel a "mean little country"

And you probably read my post calling out the editor of that rag, who referred to people that objected to their kids watching the Obama school speech as "partisan pygmies and political polliwogs"

Shameful and discouraging. The FSSP chapel would be our permanent home except we deary love the 80 year old priest in one of our other parish churches (we're a tri-church parish.) So we go back and forth for now.
